When I went out to get the morning paper a hummingbird buzzed me. When I looked around I found it had built a nest in some old wind chimes a few feet from our front door. Nice!

I am seriously considering buying a 2nd VR. This one is an 86 model that needs a bit of work, but has low mileage. One issue is the left side muffler. The owner told me that there is a problem which he suggested could be caused by a restriction such as a mouse nest. When I looked at the bike, the muffler was noticeably blue from overheating. Any thoughts on likely causes and related fixes?

I've recently found out that Eagle Nest, NM has a 4th of July parade. I've also heard that it's usually attended by about 5000 spectaturs, which I find is very remarkable given the small size of the town. Anyhow, to "toot my own horn" so to speak, I've signed up to play in a band for the parade. A former band director from Amarillo, TX now spends 3/4's of the year in Eagle Nest. He had the brainstorm of an idea to form a band for the parade. I just happened to find out about it when looking up some old friends on Facebook. Anyhow, if any of you guys and gals just happen to be attending this parade this year, keep an eye out for an exceedingly tall tuba player riding on a 20' trailer with a bunch of other former band geeks.

Hmmm, my wife has been asking me to cut down the maple tree in my front yard for two years now. The power company has hacked the tree pretty bad, and it's hollow. A local stray cat had a litter of kittens in the tree about a year ago. So I finally get the tree service scheduled to come out and cut the tree down when my wife says a bird is nesting in the tree. I walked out there and sure enough, a robin is firmly wedged into her nest. Wikipedia says the eggs should hatch in about 12 days, and the baby birds should be out within another two weeks after that. I suppose the tree has been there for 60 years, whats another month, right?

I been fighting Yellow Jackets. They have built in the wall beside the door way entrance to my camp. Determined not to let me in. Round one I hit them with some foaming spray the other night. I think they enjoyed it. Tonight I tried a different spray and was able to get about 1/2 a can up where I think the nest might be. Both nest I have found this year are above ground. The first one was in the hitch on my fifth wheel camper. So far the score is Yellow Jackets 1 and me nothing. I'll know more tomorrow evening. I might have to level that place a little sooner then expected. I could try the old fish on a string above a pan of dish water but I got a pesky raccoon that upsets all Mamamo's flower pots at night.I plan on camping Friday night got family reunion at the park beside the camp this weekend.
