  1. This will be another hard PGR Mission…. Every PGR Mission is hard… except for the one we did recently for a very much alive 90 year old that went for a ride on a trike. Monday I was informed that a friend of mine had passed after a sudden illness. Today they issued a Mission Notice that we were asked to complete a PGR Mission for him. This will be my second PGR Mission for a close friend. That just makes it harder, but yet more of an honor. I had the honor to baptized Harry many years ago. I was going anyways, now I get to honor him in another way. MISSION NOTICE: Harry Vandervoort enlisted in the United States Navy and spent four years defending this great country we live in. After the Navy, Harry joined the Arizona Air National Guard and spent the last 18+ years of his life in this service field. U.S. Navy Veteran Vandervoort was diagnosed a little over a month ago with a terrible illness and passed away suddenly on 3 January 2015 at 56 years of age. U.S. Navy Veteran Harry Vandervoort left behind his wife Rhonda, of 25 years and four children. The Patriot Guard has been invited and it will be a privilege to stand in honor of his service and love for this country.
  2. Never seen this before...thought it was interesting enough to pass on: http://defense.aol.com/2012/06/25/bizarre-navy-flip-ship-turns-50/?icid=trending2/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000058?test=latestnews
  3. The USS Carl Vincent and her escort ships will dock out in gauge roads tomorrow, and navy personnel will enjoy our twin cities of Fremantle and Perth. They will also take part in our Anzac Day march on Wednesday WELCOME U.S. NAVY
  4. Maybe I'm just tired, but can not find the detailed instructions on how to install the flanders bars on the rstd that the Navy Lt wrote up. Any help?
  5. Hey BommerCPO The U.S. Navy is in town!!!! Party time in Fremantle :dancefool: The USS George Washington is out in Gage Roads, and she's a Big 'Un Her escort is the USS Cowpen. I've never seen such a humungous ship !! Do you know that my first ever pen-pals in my teen years were two U.S. navy guys. Took them home and mum fed them well, and they enjoyed "home hospitality" for a while. Still have their letters stored somewhere, and a deck of cards we used to use( is in the cupboard.) One of them(Jim Leahy) even came back for a visit when he got out of the Navy! Back then the officers and sailors used to enjoy going to a family home for a few days, instead of night clubs, getting drunk and you know- what- else. Whenever a ship was in town, the Aussie navy would do an announcment on the radio, for people to attend the dance get-together in Fremantle to meet the U.S. guys. I've even had lunch in the mess with everyone, and got lost going to the head !!
  6. First of all let me introduce myself. I own a 2007 Venture and live in FL near Cocoa Beach and I am currently active duty NAVY in the submarine force. My questions are: Have any other's had a rust problem on their bikes? Does the warranty cover this issue? On my antennas at the joint where they fold is just covered in rust. After taking the saddle bags and trunks off last week to do a thorough cleaning (field day for you navy folk) on the bike i discovered more rust on the chrome under the trunk and a few spots on the forks. I couldn't find anything on this issue in the warranty info that I have. Thanks for your help Bill
  7. It just occured to me to ask, do we have any members here who served in U.S. Navy VP ( Patrol plane ) Squadrens ?? P5-M, P2-V, or P3 Orion Squadrens. ?? Just wondering--- Anybody serve at the Adak, Alaska Naval Station.
  8. Oh yeah, Big Navy Guy all tuff and Macho. Well here is squidly getting some ink layed on him.
  9. I was just thinking what can I say to thank all of you Veterans out there? I never served in the military. I actually wanted to enlist in the Navy when I got out of nursing school and be a Navy nurse, but my Father would not let me serve. My Father was in the Army and Ron was in the Army too. I want to just say I appreciate the sacrifices that you made to serve our country. And I think we all need to take a moment from our busy lives to think of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice serving the USA. To all the families that have lost a loved one in the wars in the past and in the present. We have this day to think of them all and to pray for them all. May God Bless the USA and all our Veterans. Thank you. Yama Mama:325:
  10. I had the honor of participating in Riverside's 3rd Annual Salute to Veterans Parade. I'm with the Patriot Guard Riders, and there were about 50 bikes and 3 cages representing. I had the special honor of flying the Unites States Navy flag on my Venture up at the front along with the other services flags. Of course everyone loves a parade, but one honoring our veterans has to be the best. I actually got to meet and shake hands with a Marine Veteran who saw action in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. This Hero looked to be in his 90's, and he was just beaming with pride as we stood in awe of his life. I also shook hands with retired Army Colonel Lewis Lee Millett, a Congressional Medal of Honor receipient. Another Hero I shook hands with was Tuskegee Airmen Buford A Johnson. We were near the end of the parade, and during our three hour wait to get going, I was able to see and talk to a lot of interesting people. I especially appreciated the WWII Veterans. My dad served in the British Royal Navy during WWII, so I was thinking a lot about him as I saw these aging Heros. I had the privilege of serving aboard the battleships USS Iowa and USS Missouri when I was in the navy, and I had my USS Missouri ballcap on for the parade. A lot of the older sailors had stories about the battleships from their days. I don't have any really great photos to share of the parade itself, but I'll attach a couple from before it. It was a great day.
  11. This one's been around before . . . too funny.
