We could all learn so much from this elegant and gracious lady. You might recall that John Hinckley was a seriously deranged young man who shot President Reagan in the early 1980's. Hinckley was absolutely obsessed with movie star Jodie Foster, and in his twisted mind, loved Jodie to the point that to make himself well known to her, he attempted to assassinate President Reagan. There is speculation Hinckley may soon be released as having been rehabilitated. Consequently, you will appreciate the following letter from Nancy Reagan to John Hinckley: To: John Hinckley From: Mrs. Nancy Reagan My family and I wanted to drop you a short note to tell you how pleased we are with the great strides you are making in your recovery.. In our country's spirit of understanding and forgiveness, we want you to know that we bear no grudge against you for shooting President Reagan. We are fully aware that mental stress and pain could have driven you to such an act of desperation. We're confident that you will soon make a complete recovery and return to your family to join the world again as a healthy and productive man. Best wishes, Nancy Reagan & Family P.S. I just got a call from Nancy Stills (Meandog's wife), they just found out her Daddy has advanced non cell lung cancer....She asked me to post up a request for prayers for her Daddy, Mama, and her family. I sure hope for their sake all goes well for him. They will be putting in a port for his chemo on Friday, and starting chemo. This family has been through so much already, with Mark. And the prayers from all of us helped them in knowing someone was there for them when they were at their weakest point. Nancy also said she regrets that she will be unable to go to the St. Jude's ride, and hopes we will understand. We for one will be keeping them all in our thoughts and prayers.

Nancy, is was great meeting you at Skids last weekend, Meeting you was the highlight of my trip, Seeing those pictures of Mark through the years made me feel like I had know him for years, thank you so much for going out of your way to come and see all of us.......... You and Mark did a fine job of raising Kenny, and just by talking to Kenny for the short time I can see that Mark was more that just a father but a friend and mentor to him...........I hope to get to your area in the near future and learn more about Mark, and who knows maybe Kenny can go for a ride with us.......... Hey All, I wanted to take a minute and let you folks know of a memorial ceremony that will be held for Mark Still (AKA Mean Dog) in New Manchester WV on June 29th. This will be held at the New Manchester Volunteer Fire Dept. between 12 noon and 2 pm. I have talked with Nancy and Lonna has also talked with Marks daughter, Missy. They would love for as many of you that can attend to come over and spend the afternoon with them. This will be the Sunday that Skid's ride in ends, so it would be real nice if folks that were already in the area could stop in. I am planning on being there after the Skid in and if anyone would be interested in a group ride heading north from Jeff's place in Gassaway. It's about 175 miles from Jeff's place up in the north handle of the state, this is where Marks family is located. Looking forward to seeing as many VR members as I can, Nancy and the family would greatly appreciate it also. Here's the complete address to the Fire station...
