  1. Tried to make an album for a presentation I went to last night. FlyinFool tried to work me through it in chat but I'm a slow learner. More pics coming once I get it figured out. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/dbtgallery.php?do=browse_user&userid=28474&gal=gallery&id=5802&type=albums
  2. My Dad and I took a ride up to Barber's Motorsports Park yesterday. It is a quick 120 mile trip for us. We've been to the museum before but not to the Vintage Bike Races. There were some real cool bike there. You have to love the atmosphere of that place. When we were looking for a place to park our bikes, an attendant told us we could park in the circle in front of the museum. He told us to park and go where we wanted. He said we cater to motorcycles here. Great people there. If you have never been to the museum, I strongly recommend you go. It is amazing how far motorcycles have come along throughout the years. The Vintage Bike Races were great. Dad has a '65 BSA 650 Lightning that he hasn't started in almost 30 years. Now we are thinking about restoring it. One fun part of the day is we stopped at the Rider's Harley and I had my Yamaha gear on. Sometimes my Dad doesn't claim me. He had to buy a couple of parts for his Road Glide. The Harley place was nice to me and said they would even take my bike on trade. Told them mine was paid for and I was going to keep it for a while
  3. A friend of mine invited us on a ride to Kerstings Motorcycle Museum in Winimac Indiana. My friend described how he and his brother in law stumbled on this place quite by accident, this trip was designed to end there. Links" http://www.kerstingscycle.com/muse.html http://www.teamchicago.tv/Kersting's%20museum.htm It was a nice ride, if you like bikes, this museum is awesome. No venture in the place but it was awesome seeing some old and unusual bikes.
  4. Okay, I like to get out of dodge on memorial day weekend. I am in east central Illinois. Looking at a destination 500 to 600 miles out for a $100 hamburger, yes I am a pilot to. Was thinking about ft rucker Alabama to take in the army air museum, anybody know of anything better. Other thing to cross my mind is riding part of natchez trace. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
  5. i was talking to a rider last yr he said the sac museum was a must see place but i forgot where he told me it was at, have any of been there or know where it is thanks, steve:Venture:
  6. So, who's been to the Ford Museum? Greenfield Village? WIfe and I are going to ride up on Friday and come home on Monday, should be plenty of time to see most of each of them, right? What's a absolute don't miss part of this trip?
  7. Aussie Annie and Allan made it to our place in Eureka, Illinoi. So far a great visit. Going to take them to the Route 66 museum tomorrow. Good Day mate
  8. I notice there are several flying fans on this site and thought I'd let you all know that the museum has updated its WEB site. It is now a "walking tour" and pretty realistic. http://www.nmusafvirtualtour.com/full/tour-pkg.html
  9. What a fun day riding to the SC Railroad Museum today! Even though it was hot, the train ride was awesome! Of course, we had to stop at DQ for a cool refreshment afterwards! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic/2011/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20201106116%20SC%20Railroad%20Museum/
  10. If you've never been to this museum it's quite a place. It's in Northern VA and is in my area. Some low life must be looking to get their ass kicked for doing this. http://www2.insidenova.com/news/2010/oct/18/bullets-shatter-glass-marine-corps-museum-ar-570891/ By Julia LeDoux Published: October 18, 2010 TRIANGLE, Va. -- Vandals fired shots at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle early Sunday morning, causing approximately $20,000 worth of damage to the building’s glass roof and a steel wall at the base of the structure. Museum spokeswoman Gwenn Adams said the building was unoccupied at the time. The museum remains open to the public during the ongoing police investigation. “No artifacts were damaged,” she said. Approximately five holes could be seen in the glass roof, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. Police did not know Monday what type of gun was used or where the bullets were fired from. The side of the building damaged faces Interstate 95. “The important thing for us is our visitors will not be impacted,” Adams said. “It does not take away from the overall experience of the museum.“ Marine Corps Base Quantico military police, Criminal Investigative Division, is assisting in the investigation. “The authorities are handling the investigation and we have full confidence that they will find the responsible party or parties,” said Adams. Adams noted that the museum has on-site security staff and is also equipped with security cameras that cover the interior and exterior of the property. Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. You don’t have to give your name, just the information and you could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward. Military editor Julia LeDoux can be reached at 703-369-5718.
  11. We had a great time today at Blackjack's North GA Monthly M&E! The weather was perfect! We met Sling and Peggy for breakfast in Augusta and then rode to the museum. Blackjack brought in his group and then we toured the museum! Really neat cars! Even a couple of scoots there! A trip to DQ was in order afterwards and then Sling and Peggy and Sleeperhawk and I went home via country roads. What a ride and even saw another Venture! Here is the link to the pictures! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic/2010/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20Microcar%2020101009/ Thank you, Blackjack (and all of you), for putting this together!
  12. I rode over to Chandler to the old Seaba Station. It has been turned into a Motorcycle Museum. They do not have all the bikes in yet. It was still pretty interesting. Starting this Sunday (Aug 29th) and ever last Sunday of each month they will have a breakfast ride in. It will start at around 8:30am or so. It is located 5 miles west of Chandler Ok on Route 66. Here is photo show" http://www.photoshow.com/watch/TS7Ve6Df
  13. Anybody been there? Wife and I are going to Milwaukee in about 10 days. Thought about going to the HD museum.
  14. We have been to both Eastern Grand Canyons these last few weeks. The first visit was in PA at the Leonard Harrison State Park. The second visit was in New Yorks Letchworth State Park. Both something to see in there own right but nothing compared to Arizona's Grand Canyon. After the ride to Letchworths park we took a ride around Lake Keuka one of the Finger Lakes. At the southern end near Hammondsport N.Y. is the Glen Curtiss Museum. He was one of the early pioneers of aviation. Before becoming involved in aviation he built bicycles then motorcycles and was dubbed "The worlds fastest man" in 1907, before being beaten by a man in a airplane later. The motorcycle he rode is on display there. All I can say is 136 M.P.H.. He was a braver man than I'll ever be.This was the only museum that I've ever seen that lets you enter the restoration shop. For all you Cushman lovers out there I added the lineup of Cushmans that were there at the museum. We bought this Venture to tour the country and now can do it {between work}. It now gets 46 MPG and purrs like a kitten.
  15. We went out with our military contingent for a 200 mile round trip up to Fredricksburg to the Admiral Nimitz/Pearl Harber Museum. We started out at Fort Sam with a safety check on all the bikes. Lonestarmedic and I were the only ventureriders but we ended up with 26 of us, traveling in 3 groups. We headed up US 281 to Blanco for a short pit stop. As the better half and I pulled in to the gas station, I stopped next to some of the other bikes and went to put down the side stand. I went right back up and we went over on the crash bars.........Embarassed can not describe it. I have not put this bike down ever, and now in front of everyone. Marsha said it was because she was on with me, but I should have been able to hold it up with both of us. The rest of the ride was uneventful and we had a great time at the museum followed by lunch downtown. We had a great time and the weather cooperated very well. 80s-90s. JB and I had one of the other riders asking about a venture because his wife won't ride with him on his warrier(do you blame her) Pictures to follow
  16. For anyone that lives within striking distance of Birmingham AL (or for that matter, anyone wanting to take a road trip!), the 3rd Annual Vintage Festival takes place Oct. 19-21 at the Barber Motorsports Park. Here's a link to follow for more info: http://www.barbermotorsports.com/events/barber/event-ahrma-general.php We included the Museum during last years' AL Meet & Eat. It is an amazing and highly-recommended place to visit! Terry
  17. What can I say. Linda and I road down on Saturday (great day to be out) and had aterrific time at the museum. They have done a fantastic job of restoring the old bikes. Are the ever cool. If you like motorcycles, and who here doesn't, you owe it to yourself to go. Would make for a great meet and eat. You can trace the eveolution of mc's back to the begining, and work you way up. HD made some very interesting stuff that you would not think would be made by them. I will try to post some pictures.

This event keeps getting better and better every year. Here is the link to the website http://www.abbeyroadontheriver.com/ There is also The Muhamad Ali museum, The Louisvill Slugger bat museum and 6 flags park (the wife still likes the roller coasters) so there is a lot to do in the Louisville area. motel bull

The wife and I haven't been able to do much riding this year due to family problems. But we did get to do two, two day jaunts. The first one was down to Pickerington, Ohio to the AMA museum and the second one to Hersey, Pa. to the Hersey museum. On the first one when we stopped for the night at about 4:00 P.M. we went to two motels that had hardly any cars in their lots and were told that they were full. No problem we just went up the road to another one and stayed. The next morning we were up and riding at 7:30 in the morning. I made sure the next morning to look to see if the other motels that we had stopped at to get a room were indeed full. NOT! I thought oh well their loss and let it go. The next two day jaunt to Hersey, Pa. we encountered the same "full up" bull. What gives? Has anyone else encountered this bigotry against motorcycles? We have ridden in a lot of western states and have never come up against this issue. Is this just a east of the Mississippi hospitality?
