the verdict is in on carb sync rpm's... i usually set mine at fast rpm 2000-2500 and it always ran great and got good mpg's 39-43. so after reading some threads about doing it at 1000 rpm i tried that and well my mpg's kinda sucked, 35-38 was all i could get. so i went back to hi rpm sync and went back to 42mpg on the first tank. i figure 90% of my riding is hiway at 65 mph so why not set carbs to that.. i will admit the throttle response was a bit better at 1000 rpm but top end and fuel mileage suffered. anywho for what its worth those are my results. all thats on 89 octane.

Here are a couple of pics from last weekend's ROT rally. Going to the Rally had everything loaded up. The two tubs on top contain the a/c unit and cloths. Yes my wife packs light. Also had the cooler full of beverages and ice. Yes it was heavy. Didn't have any problems pulling it, left the bike in 4th and set the cruise at an indicated 65-70. Got between 30-35 mpg's. Coming home I let my FIL carry all of the gear, and the cooler was empty. That was an easy pull. 5th gear and cruise on 75, no problems. Getting 35-40 mpgs. Actually got cold at night with the a/c unit, had to turn it down and borrow a blanket. The air mattress works ok, but not used to such a small bed, and every movement gets transmitted to your partner. May have to look for a memory foam instead, but not looking for more bulk to haul.
