I stumbled upon what I think is wrong with my bike.. I took the airbox off my 85VR brownie and my left rear carb slider isn't moving like the rest. It is motionless. I checked the diaphragm out. Does this mean my float is stuck?

Never, ever, ever forget to put your kickstand down, especially when you're parking your 800lb Venture next to your other motorcycle! I got lucky there, at least. I heard plastic cracking and freaked out that both bikes were screwed. The fairing hit the lower fork of the Vulcan and just put some paint on it. Didn't even knock it over. Cracked the fairing pretty good, popped the radio console out, tore loose the screws on left side and f-ed up the left airvent in the fairing. So the glue is drying now, and the bike will look just a little more worse for wear when I get it back together. Anybody have a spare 2-tone brown 85 fairing they want to sell? What a freaking brain cramp. At least I wasn't moving when it struck.

OK i let the bike set up for well since Isaac came through i put some unknowingly bad gas in the tank from a gas can i filled up before the pending visit of Isaac i must have gotten the bottom of the tank i ran some berry mans treatment cleaner in my tank the whole can in the 4 gal. of gas it was running bad lose of power before i got back to the shop that's when i added berry mans and ran it for about 30 min. then shut it down that was Friday i just cranked it and it was still running bad so i drained the tank at the fuel filter the gas was dark yellow like old gas hooked the line back to the pump and cranked it. it was still slow response on throttle all 4 cylinders are firing so i took the air box apart looked in all 4 carbs are spraying gas but slides were not moving i assisted them by moving them with a screwdriver now i have only one not moving on its own could it be the diaphragm any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before i take cover off carb diaphragm and tank has fresh gas the crappy ethanol gas

When Barb and I were on vacation on our 89 Royale, we were enjoying some of the roads in NW Georgia. We were on a rough one, and I wanted to increase the dampening on the rear shock. I reached down and tried to twist the knob.....it wouldn't move, it was stuck on #2. Today when I was putting the side covers on, I remembered that I couldn't adjust it and started to play with it. It started to move a little and I kept moving it back and forth and it started moving between #1 and #2 normally. However, I still can't get it to go into #3 or #4. #2 Dampening is great for normal use, but I'd like to be able to adjust it when I want it stiffer. Any ideas? Frank

Just in case anyone wants to put this on their calander.... We are very proud to announce the 2012 Patriot Ride in Ham Lake, MN. This is the 7th Year of Minnesota Motorcyclists are making a difference for our military here and abroad. Sponsored by Dennis Kirk this ride came from the idea that citizens needed to do more to show their support in more ways than just slapping a ribbon magnet on their cars. Last year just over $100,000 was raised to support the MN Patriot Guard and the Minnesotans' Military Appreciation Fund. That money makes a meaningful difference to those in uniform from Minnesota. What really matters is that you show up and show you care. The crowd size, the cheers, and the tears all help make up the biggest military support ride in the Midwest. Along with the vendors and military equipment displays is a special Moving Wall. Many of you have seen a Vietnam Moving Wall before and wondered at the sacrifice. This year our friends from the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Association are bringing down the Canadian Moving Wall. I was personally stunned to learn that 121 Canadians enlisted in the US Military and made the ultimate sacrifice. How they must have felt watching the draft dodgers going the other way to Canada as they were coming to America to enlist.

Okay, I bought the Aluma MC10 to haul the Wing to distant lands. I now need the best wheel chock to put on it and protect my bike. Which one is the best? I saw a posting or ad some time ago that discussed a chock that locks the wheel securely so you just have to use straps to keep the bike from moving sideways...can't seem to find it again...not even sure if it is the best anyway. Appreciate any help you can provide.

Just felt an earthquake. Felt like someone came up and was pushing on my chair. Computer monitors were moving. Not usual in northern Ohio. Was centered in Virgina, about a 5.8 Gary

Ok been hearing about how all the second genners moved their trunks back to give their passenger a little more room. I was tols that it was already det up just had to move it. Ive been looking for a way to do this on a 1st gen. Looked at moving the trunk itself but dont have the skills to remake the mounts . Then considered moving the trunk rack mount back but it seems that isnt possible as it sets at an angle just behing the back light. Is there anyone out there who has already done this mod to a 1st gen and if so how did you do it? Any help would be appreciated David

My brother just graduated with a masters in history. He is moving tonight or tomorrow to go to New Mexico. Him and his wife have done some searching and apparently there is a need for teaching jobs in New Mexico. Can anyone from New Mexico or surrounding states comment? Maybe for some sort of specialized field? I hope the best for my brother but considering the economy and schools around Indy are laying off instead of hiring I have my doubts

Cager Club Sandwich.. Hold the Yamaha...Dip on the side
Snaggletooth posted a topic in Watering Hole
I've been off work this week burning last of my vacation time for the year. As it's been a dreary week, cloudy and raining most the time I've spent a lot of time in the garage working on little things on the bike. Last of all a new set of pads all the way around. I'll post a couple of pics on that story later. LOL! Got my moneys worth out of the last set for sure. But I figured it was NOT raining today so a trip out to check the bike and seat the new pads would be a good thing. Almost ended up poorly. I rode for a few hours and stopped by my store to pickup my security keys for Monday. Stopped and BS'd for a while with some co-workers and they followed me outside when I was leaving to look at the bike. As we talked I was gearing up, armored jacket, leather gloves and the full face helmet and they were giving me static about all the gear, as usual. I just laughed it off and said "Parking lots are the most dangerous place for a biker." Not all that far off really ya know. I had just pulled away from them and as I turned into a lane through the lot I saw two sets of brake lights light up in two cars across from each other and as quick as the lights came on the backup lights lit up also. I hit the brakes and stopped as fast as I could. (YEA!! New pads!) Both cars shot out of their parking spots and met with a pretty good impact that crushed both rear quarters, folded the bumpers and sent pieces of taillight flying everywhere......all about 3 feet in front of where I sat. WoW! Cool! My co-workers came running over as I put down the side stand a waited for the cars to decide what they were going to do. All I could do was laugh and say, "See, what did I just tell ya!" Both drivers left their cars where they were and got out. A couple of Blue Hairs. You know... the ones that do 15 mph under the limit in a 25 mph zone. They had more speed backwards than they do going forward. They decided to exchange info before moving the cars out of the way. Now they are moving at the speed of mud as they do this. I'm just shaking my head and laughing. So the Cager Club Sandwich ..... Hold the Yamaha, makes sense now right? So where does the "Dip" come in? That would the three cars that pulled into the lane behind me, RIGHT behind me a felt the need to sit there and lay on the horns. Dips would be a nice term for them. I had a couple of other names for them but nobody would want that with a sandwich. I'm not a lil fella at 6'3" and dressed in full gear. I pulled my helmet off and walked back to each car and made my statment, "Ya'll back your a$$ up and go on your way. NOW!!" That worked, I love that Bambi in the headlights look, I really do. Some people say I have a nice smile. My daughter says it looks like I'm showing my teeth. Well, whatever, the effect works. LOL! So the lil old Blue Hairs both came over and asked me if I saw what happened. They both were fishing for a witness. "Yep, I did. And if either one of you contact me to be a witness I will gladly come to court and be a witness for the OTHER driver. You both screwed up!" So that sort of set the whole thing off and I was starting to see a remake of the famous Star Wars lightsaber fight with a couple of Yoda Blue Hairs and canes. Eww! So I rolled back and made my way out of the lot. Slowly. Safely. Back to the safe harbour of my garage. Ahh, Home. So folks, keep your eyes moving in the parking lots ok. Things happen fast in very little space. A few more feet and at best, I would have been rebuilding my front forks ....again. Ya see that Earl!!! Won't be needing anymore parts for a while! Ya'll ride safe, Mike -
I've been moving my handlebars around some trying to find the most comfortable position for me. I think I finally got there by rotating them down toward the tank quiet a bit. All is good, but the turn signals, cruise control stuff, etc are now pointing down too much. I've tried loosening them to rotate them up a bit, but they don't seem to want to move. Can these be rotated around and if so, what am I missing?

Well the trailer for Annie and Allen to use is sitting at Dano's and I thought the weather should be getting better to start moving it again. I talked to Marilla (Vicco on the site) and she said the trailer could stay at their place in OR. They live about 2 hrs south of Portland. Figured it might be better to keep it somewhere in the family till they get here. So if we can start thinking of who can move it closer it would be greatly appreciated. With this group I know we can make this happen. We've moved stuff before. Thanks Margaret

I was the guy on Superior street with a truck full of furniture watching you go by. Bad news...she is moving in with us for a few months Good news.....she is a nice kid and loves to bake. Bad news......looks like I might be gaining even more weight.

Just in case you dont hear from me for a couple days, and think I crashed...lol My internet may be down for a bit. Depends on how easy I can run the cat5 cable. Can't do it sloppy, like I usually do. I'd rather not go wireless, cause I play some games and dont trust wireless to be as good as the hardwire, for shooting the badguys. Had the collector welded where it goes into the muffler, on the scoot. Was pretty nasty, but he fabed some stuff and its better than ever now. At least since I've had it. I may get another year or so out of this one. Looks like the other side will need addressed, end of season or next spring. To get under the bike, we just tipped her over. No prblems at all, I put down some furniture blankets to rest her on. PS: Moving it hard:crying:

The links from some time ago have expired. I just scored a new set at the local HD dealer for $75. I am very excited to get moving. I did already order the clamps on ebay thanks to you guys. any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thank you. I have a new to me 2005 rstd and love it.
