Tx2Sturgis, Brian, here is a rig that is being slowly moved...that combines your line of work with my old line of work. http://www.autoblog.com/2012/11/06/this-192-wheel-vehicle-is-carrying-nuclear-waste-to-utah-right-n/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl4%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D232024 This rig weighs in at 700,000 lbs., can only be moved at 25 mph, and will take three weeks to go 800 miles. Oh, and it is 400 ft. long, and has...192 wheels under it. Imagine the pay that this truck driver...or crew of them...are getting to move this.

Somebody can help on how is the best and carefull way to remove the HD pipes to reinstall the original ones? I already remove the clamp, but seems that the inner pipe didn't moved at all when I can see that the bracket on the back already moved at least 3/4". Even the buffer is out, but I don't want to scratch anything. Thanks, Carlos :stirthepot:

A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat. This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, She complained to the driver and he had the man arrested. The case came up in court. The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) What he had to say for himself . The man replied, 'Well your Honour, it was like this: When the lady got on the bus, I couldn't help but notice her condition. She sat down under a sign that said, 'The Double Mint Twins are coming' and I grinned. Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, 'Logan's Liniment will reduce the swelling,' and I had to smile. Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said, 'William's Big Stick Did the Trick,' and I could hardly contain myself. But, Your Honour, when she moved the fourth time And sat under a sign that said, 'Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident!' ... I just lost it.' 'CASE DISMISSED!!' :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:

I got this bike (83 Venture) about 6 months ago and ever since I have been hunting a very loud annoying whistle in the fairing. I have moved duct tape from this vent to that port over the chrome strip under the windshield but could never find it. this last Friday coming home from a ride I went to shift and as I moved my hand over the clutch lever the sound changed, so I kept moving my hand around that area until I found it. there is a hole on the under side of the ball end of the clutch lever. once I covered the hole half of the noise went away so I covered the brake lever hole also and SILENCE IS GOLDEN GOLDEN. It sounded so good not to hear that noise (in stereo) I had to take a 350 mile round trip on Saturday to watch one of my grandsons play football. I almost turned my wife into a Popsicle. We didn't get headed back for home until after dark and the temp dropped to 40. But there was no whistle.

Hi All, My buddy has an 84 venture, he traded for it and it had squeaky rear brake so he put new pads in. He tried and tried to get the brakes bled. I personally read every first gen brake bleeding problem here and on the other list trying to help him. It turns out, that he thinks the problem was, , GET THIS, the brake pedal had little to no free play in it, the footpegs were put on the most forward location, once he moved the pegs and brake pedal back one notch, the brakes bled just fine thank you. He finally had noticed that the brake adjuster was at the very end of its travel so , having everything else fail, he moved it back and tried bleeding it. He is theorizing ,sp, that the master cyl was pulled past its proper travel, therefore stopping any actual brake bleeding. This is the first time that I have heard of this on this and the other list, so I will be posting this as a theoretical possibility so others may know what happened. I would appreciate comments from anyone else who has had this problem as well as anyone who knows for absolute sure that this ,,theoretical assumption is a possibility.

I said I had some extra parts and such for sale and posted it on the watering hole forum as I have seen others do. I went back later to read it and found it had been moved. Where was it moved and why? I can't find it. Reno

Beth and I received some bad for us news yesterday, our tenants are moving out on June 1st....so we won't be able to make it to maintenance day in Ohio. THAT SUCKS! MD is the trip that I look forward to every year more than anything....I am NOT a happy camper. We are going to have to stay home and prep the rental unit for rent:confused24:......we need to rent it out quick, the payments are a bit of a killer. I shudder when I think of the clean up involved....I had let them paint the master bedroom...it's one ugly color, and they did an ugly job of it.....geesh! So...no MD lunch, no MD renewing friendships and making new ones, no partying at the Comfort Inn with all you crazies, dang it, no cheaper than Canadian priced wine, no getting the heck away for a weekend. Gonna miss meeting Aussie Annie and Quickie....er, I mean Quickstep...did I mention I'm not a happy camper....this is worse than snow! Just a wee bit of history then....when Beth:bighug: and I met, she lived 4 blocks up the street, we married, moved away. Her house sold, mine didn't, bottom fell out of the real estate market along with everything else. We decided to get a larger home when we moved back. It's been a battle with tenants ever since, the market is not good here in Windsor, and selling just isn't in the cards right now due to being locked in on the mortgage and the fees to get out of it are huge. In a nutshell..I guess that's it without a whole lot of boring, if not already BORING details. So...have some extra fun while you're all there at Don's, and think of us while you're doing it! We are going to miss out big time, $#@#$%%% it. gunk:depressed:

This is driving me nuts! I went out for a short spin today and all was good. The radio was loud the sun was shinning and the traffic was light. Then it happened. I hit a small bump in the road (cuz they aren't as smooth as glass in Niagara), and my radio went into seek mode. It flipped to a new station and then moved onto the next station. It did this for quite a while. Obvious to me I have a short somewhere but I'm not sure where to start. I was thinking about opening up the left handle bar control to clean it. Any thoughts on this? Anyone? Thomas

Tooling along I-64 in Southern Indiana near exit 39 and my Venture quit moving forward. Engine still runs, but bike will not move forward. Bought a trailer at tractor supply and found a pickup to tow it the rest of the way to Waynesburg, KY. Im not moved in yet and I have not had a chance to check out the problem, but when the bike is in gear, there is a terrible noise either coming from the middle gear section or the final drive itself. It's so loud that I cannot tell where it's coming from yet. This was done on the side of the interstate waiting on help. Well anywho, I'm in Kentucky now in a motel waiting for some lectricity at the house. Once I get moved and settled in, I'll tear into the bike. 99 Venture with 99,600 miles on it.

well i came home about 2 hours ago after picking up some choke and puke for dinner. when i saw a nice officer looking over the motorcycle. i parked the car got out and said officer is there something wrong? he said well i been driving by here for the past week and noticed this motorcycle is still parked in the same spot. so im writing up a tow it sticker? i asked did you run the plates to see who it might belong too? he said im about to do that? i said well im the owner and i live right there. in that apartment thats about 14 feet from the bike. is my front door. he said oh well you should move that bike so we know its not stolen and abandon? i didnt want to tell him it was coverd last 6 days so what makes him think someone just up and left it? and it has current tabs? today i pulled the cover off. to do some cleaning on it before i install the master that will be comming shortly.. and explained i do not have off street parking here. as do the other 2 renters. but to make him happy i fired up the bike to show it runs. left it in neutral and pushed it 5 feet backwards. therefore moving the bike. he said ok it runs and it has been moved. i said yep thanks. he then said i will be back in 72 hours to make sure its moved again? damn what a jerk. if he would have put that damn super sticky red ticket on my new windshield. i might have went to jail.

What started out as a quick fix and a long summer of riding has turned into your standard "make it look real pretty" job. Thanks Earl for the mod spacers for the carbs. I will need to look into some threads to get an idea how to deal with the adjustable needles. Here are a few pics to show the progress. At present, I am doing some modifications since she is taken apart. Moved the TCI box, will get at carbs soon, changed oil, strengthened the plastic because some day it will crack there! Lube what I can lube and generally looking at every bolt. I think, well the little lady thinks" I should go with a single color close to the original brown with the burgundy tint. I will probubly add some more metal flakes to it.

Went for an awesome ride today (thanks for leading Randya), but in the middle of the ride the spedo started screaming. Then it decided not to come home with me. I suppose that means we've moved past the "lube it and it'll be ok" point. How much is this going to cost me?
