  1. Well the Idaho Delegation and her faithful minion erv are packing to hit the road for Cody mañana. Salmon is pretty close...with in a long day...especially going through Jellystone Park...We plan to be in Cody Sunday.. We decided to head toward Bozeman and go south either on Montana 89 to Mammoth and east to Cody from there or Montana highway 191 south to west Yellowstone then east to Cody...a bit further ride but I hear tell it quite scenic. 89 apparently has a hot spring resort sort of thing called Chico hot springs, there is apparently no camping and waiting to make reservations as long as we have find there are no rooms available. There are quite a few camp areas down 191 but getting a spot would certainly be the luck of the draw....so at even this late moment we are still somewhat undecided about our route. Sure would be swell to happen to hook up with some other Venture riders on their way but figure that ain't gonna happen. Have cell phone and the number to call is: 208-303-0993 no doubt a message would need to be left but we check the phone when ever we take a break...and I imagine we will breaking often. Rocket and Rod asked if we could bring along a keg but we figured that by the time we got it there on bikes it would be so shook up we'd never get to drink anything other n foam. We do plan to check with the local Cody distributor to see what may be available. Nothing like keg Cerveza and Fish Tacos... ahem...ahem... and the old Owls road kill chili along with the Utah's diplomats mighty fine tasting ( or so I've heard) and that is if they plan to make chili...Dave? Any comments? Anyway we sure look forward to meeting folks in Cody and find ourselves excited to actually have an opportunity to visit with Lowell again. Ride Safe and see ya there, Teri n erv
  2. Dirt roads? We ain't afraid of no dirt roads! Stu and Marvin...any of this look familiar??? We did run into a fellow from California who said he figures in Montana and Idaho the term road construction really means "sent out for repairs." Teri (Roja of Pakidaho)
  3. I finally got some pics on the web of our trip out west. I have them broken down by states. The beginning pics are of Minnesota and Wisc. We stopped for a couple of days in South Dakota the MTA bike rally there. Pics of Rushmore, Crazy horse and some of the other sites were taken on a day tour in a van. From there we rode west till we got to the coast. Way too much beauty to take in all in one trip. We totaled around 7100 miles and it was worth every one of them to see the places we saw. [ame=http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjd_/sets/72157621448138805/show/]Minnesota, Wisc and South Dakota[/ame]. Montana is a beautiful state but we pretty much were just passing through. [ame=http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjd_/sets/72157621908822994/show/]Montana[/ame] Idaho is beautiful... We stayed in what they call the high desert. Not much grass and trees in those parts but following the rivers through there was great. You will see a lot of different kinds of country. The mountains and the glacier fed lakes are beyond belief. [ame=http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjd_/sets/72157621911681720/show/]Idaho[/ame] Oregon is a gem. We stayed in an Inn on the Snake River. You will see the pictures of all the handmade things in the gardens and around this ladies yard. All done by local Artists. From the mountains, rivers and then to the coast. [ame=http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjd_/sets/72157621787434253/show/]Oregon[/ame] California... what can I say. We rode one of the curviest roads I have ever been on. That would be Rt. 1 on the coast. The ocean, the redwoods, Napa Valley are all worth seeing. [ame=http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjd_/sets/72157621803843753/show/]California[/ame] Just click on each state and you should see a slideshow. I haven't uploaded Washington. I will have to do that soon. If any of the links do not work let me know. Bob
  4. Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, British Columbia, and Alberta....amazing scenery every day!! Glacier/Road to the Rising Sun Banff and Jasper But the scariest ride of all.....Beartooth Pass from Cooke City Montana to Red Lodge Montana!! We were higher than the clouds! You can't tell it on the map, but this one's crazy!!! And grizzly country to boot! Here's a few pix but they don't do the beauty justice....And to all the Canuk's....thanks for the wonderful hospitality your country hands out! Gary and I will never forget this trip!!

  6. RE: Our ride of a lifetime I can't believe we attended Sunday morning services in Rapid City, South Dakota, and just ate supper with our daughter near Washington DC this Tuesday evening. We arrived safe and dry, thank the Lord. For those who know of our ride through the blizzard in Montana, we had a great ride to Olympia, Washington then back to Yellowstone. This time the weather was great! The pass over the Bighorn National Park was awesome - Mt Rushmore - indescribeable! We have a week to spend here with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandkids. Then we head back to Arkansas via the Blueridge Parkway. The only trouble we've had (other than the blizzard on two Montana passes) is that my Piggybacker XL is EATING TIRES. 6,000 miles plus and counting Missionary Rider
  7. Shooting in Butte, Montana Butte, Montana November 5, 2007 Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine. Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun. Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals. When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive. It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest. Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news........an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants.......and she wins, she is still alive. Now that is Gun Control ! Thought for the day: Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist"
  8. Has any one rode to Lake Louise ??? I probably spelt the name wrong...but hey...its early... I am from NW Montana and have been there years ago in a cage, but would love to ride there...
