Was just sitting here wondering if it would be possible to add a "Restorations, Modifications and Customizations" forum section, where we could create our own threads based on our own personal motorcycle related restorations, modifications and or customizations and be able to add related photos showing the "before and after" progress of such, where we can keep this information contained in one forum and separate and not mixed in with, the watering hole and or other forums. Can somebody elaborate which calipers can be used to upgrade the front and rear calipers of a MKII Venture? Which years R1 or R6 are a direct bolt on using the same disk position and diameter. Also, which modifications need to be done to the brake hoses or which hoses are used as a replacement? Do the Ventureline chrome caliper covers fit over the updated calipers? How is the brake feel with the stock master cylinders after the caliper upgrade? Any modifications necessary to the master cylinders? What models could be used? Thanks in advance, I know it's a lot of questions, but some of you have done the upgrade and might want to share with the group. Klaus

I have a '97 RSTD. Is there a hard trunk assy. like the Ventures have that can be mounted on the bike without a lot of modifications?

I note that a lot of people here complain about the 2nd Gen RSV has poor low speed handling, so they go about changing the bike by adding "leveling links", lowering the front end or by putting a narrower front tire on, or a combination of these. However I note on page 9-1 of my Owners Manual that it states that the RSV's Minimum turning radius is 3500 mm (137.8 in). This equates to a little under 11.5 feet..................... Who has the guts to do a U-turn in under 12 feet in stock trim????? I am TRYING to do it...... More practice and more part number 4NK-27496-00-00 and 4NK-27497-00-00 might be required. Now for the challenge: How tight of a U-turn can you do? Also please state any modifications to your suspension like in the first paragraphs of this post. If you have any modifications, I would expect you to be able to U-Turn in under 11.5 feet... BTW the MSF course double U turn box is either 24 or 20 feet wide while most police motor officer training courses are set at a MAXIMUM of 18 feet... Click HERE for a range.

Judging from what I have seen so far many of the modifications we make to the bikes are possibly illegal on the federal level. In my area there are also the mods that are illegal on the local level, like no mufflers, that seem to be ignored by the police....so far. There was an interesting link to the Motorcycle Riders Foundation posted by Steve (Bummer) in another thread. Also the federal laws. Going by MRF many of the more common modifications such as Vmax rear end, plugging the AIS, muffler change or modification, jet changes, air filter/air box changes, rev limiter changes, cam etc. assuming not using something that has been certified for the bike, could be trouble. At this time I assume the only thing we could remotely see are violations for exhaust changes. They would be easier to tell then final drive gears changes or jet work. Is it likely? Not from what I see of the uncorked Harley's in Tucson. I still wouldn't be surprised if one day there is a crack down here but no sign yet. If someone with power gets fed up here it could even swing the other way and go 100% compliance. How about in other areas? Has anyone run into examples of enforcement? Anyone have a good guess as to what the future may bring? Jerry

Problems with the factory CB/FM/AM antenna system? This site give some ideas on viable modifications: http://bludolphintravel.com/gmg/marshallmod.htm
