Getting ready to paint my 83 Venture. I have all of the fairings and side covers ready to shoot, and finishing work on the luggage and fenders and then I'll be ready for paint when I get a warm enough day to do it. I want a color that will be a bit more modern and I've settled on either 2008 GM Atomic Orange, or House of Kolor Sunset Pearl. What do you guys think?

Hi from Atlantic Canada! Moncton, New Brunswick actually. I currently own a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic and would like to move up to a full-on touring bike for my wife and I by next summer. I've tried out various Harley touring bikes and find them quite nice but I've seen so many used late model Royal Star Ventures going pretty cheap, it's hard not to take these into consideration too. I've never had the opportunity to try one out for myself, so I'm trying to get as much info on the internet as I can find. Looks like a lot of bike for the money. I don't know if I'd go the Goldwing route, so the Venture might be the bike for me. It seems like a bike that falls somewhere between an UltraGlide and a Goldwing? Even though the Venture is only a five speed, when cruising down the highway, it doesn't cause buzzing at the handgrips or floorboards does it? Are there any negatives in dealing with the four carbs, rather then modern fuel injection? How are the brakes? Most modern large-sized touring bikes now have ABS or offer it as an option, does this cause you any concerns as it's such a big, heavy bike? Any input from you Venture owners would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Well, wow, how does one part with ten years of great rides and memories?! A bittersweet moment in my life is about to take place. I am selling my 1999 RSV. It is time for a change. The Mrs. is not too happy, but she knows sometimes you just have to make some changes and move forward. I am flying out to Belton, MO this week to pick up a 2009.... oh god I can't believe I am going to write this.... HD Ultra Classic. Yeah, I know - hard to believe, even for me it is hard to believe, and then ride it back home - 11 hours on the road. The thing is this, I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for Yammie to update this bike. I want the modern "stuff" that HD puts on their bikes. I rode one a week ago, it felt smaller than our RSV's, and not quite as "robust", but it was smooth, lighter for "me" (I am small guy), and I liked all the modern gadgetry. Now I did not just get whatever the local Dealer had... I read, researched and looked for what "I" wanted - features and colors scheme. I still think the bikes are a tad over priced. If you want to see The Soon-to-be new ride I still have my 2006 Yam Stratoliner for my tootin round town fun. So let the chastising begin! So if ya know anyone looking for a very loaded, clean, well kept, pristine, 1999 RSV - send em my way! I put an ad here on VROrg and it is listed on CraigsList

What a nice bike . This thing has the all stuff we have been crying about for years. I spent close to an hour with this bike at the show yesterday and can tell you there will be one in my stable shortly. I watched two Hd guys try to pick this bike apart, they walked away saying "they did it". A modern day Ultra. Priced with the Venture, not the HD . It a shame that yamaslow is letting this market pass them by. I love my Midnight but just like to try different things.

I'm posting this because maybe this way when the modern parable thread gets pulled, we can see who had the closest square. Redneck said 7pm sunday justjt said 9:35 sunday. I figure that a lot of folks aren't looking at the 'puter today because of the weekend, so I'll say 2pm monday.
