Regarding "Tradedy in Conn." .... Would like to thank the Moderators for letting the thread go as long as they did and then closing it on request of the original poster. What started out as expressions of sympathy for the victims and their families turned into a discussion on gun control. I'll admit to going beyond the original intent of the thread but after seeing families in their grief came back to the realization that this is about the families and discussion of guns (pro and con) has no place here. Was a civil discussion... but was time to end it. Thank you again.

I was hoping more members would have read this article if I posted it someplace else besides the watering hole, but out of all the members we have only 112 have done so,which I find disheartening. I may catch some flak from the moderators and the boss, but I feel very strongly about this as those who know me personally know. 12 year old girl looses battle to cancer...........

Hey Folks, Got a call from the Boss last night. He's in Minisoda at a conference and they have his laptop for upgrades. He wont have it back till more than likely Thursday Evening. So if you need to get ahold of him be paitent as he has no means to communicate with us here. If you have questions for the site contact myself or one of the other Moderators. He apologises for the inconvienence and will get back with everyone as soon as he is able. I kinda like it that he hopefully can relax a bit without worrying about this place

Recently acquired a 2009 Venture I had to wait several weeks on. Looked everywhere for a manual to read while waiting for delivery. Found it here: http://labs.trunkful.com/LIT-11626-16-15_18.pdf Slow server takes four or five minutes to download. (Moderators: please delete this if it's common knowledge and already been posted.)

This post edited by Freebird. Folks, we have adopted a ZERO policy on political threads. This was a decision voted on and adopted by the membership here by a GREAT majority long ago. We were a bit lax for a while in enforcing the rule but due to the increasing frequency of such posts, there is no more letting things slide. The moderators here typically discuss any post before deleting it but that practice has been suspended for political posts. The moderators on myself will delete any political post just as soon as we see it or it is brought to our attention. Please try to follow the few simple rules that we have here.

OK folks, there are two actually two new moderators that I wish to announce. One has been a moderator for a while but I don't know if I ever officially announced it or not. Eck was made a moderator back when he started the VentureRider Parts Exchange Program. That give him the ability to edit and maintain that forum area and also to help out with any moderation duties site wide. I truly respect his dedication and efforts and am very happy to have him as a moderator. Today I have added one other moderator. Please welcome V7Goose as our latest victim. Kent has actually been added as an Administrator. How does this differ from a moderator? It gives Kent access to the templates and etc. that are used on the site which is where much of the custom programming and etc. takes place. Kent has a background in programming and some server management experience so can hopefully help when I am having any issues with database errors, server configurations, etc. In addition to that, he is on the site a lot and is always willing to help with any technical issues regarding the motorcycles and has a good head on his shoulders if any actual moderation duties are necessary. I hope you will join me in welcoming both of these gentlemen to our team. This site takes very little moderation and there are often weeks at a time where we don't even communicate with each other. These guys are here more to help our members with any questions about the site than they are to actually moderate so please feel free to contact any of them should you have a question. For those who may not even know, our Admins and Moderators at VentureRider.org are: Admins Freebird V7Goose Moderators Squidley Black Owl Buddyrich Eck

I was reading an interview with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in Imprimis, a publication by Hilsdale College in Michigan. It reminded me of the moderators on this site and some recent threads that got off topic. I came away with a greater appreciation for the rules about discussing politics and other contentious subjects. Here is a quote from the interview with Justice Thomas as published in the October 2007 issue of Imprimis, when he was asked why he won't discuss ideas with brutes: Once again my hat is off to the moderators of this site. P.S. Calumnies = lies. I had to look that up.

Folks, I am by no means a prude...... And I enjoy a good joke as much as anyone, and I know I have told more than my fair share of "blue" jokes in my yound life. But, please remember that it is our intent to try and maintain this as a PG rated site. That being said, I have done a soft delete on one of the jokes and will have the other moderators review it. If they feel it is appropriate, it will be reactivated. And I will stand corrected and will personaly apologize to the member that posted it. Thanks you.
