A young kid working as a Jimmy John's driver was at the curb and really not moving as I traveled 3/4 block at 25mph. Just as I reached him he hit his left turn signal and then turned in front of me, headed to a driveway to turn around, as I was driving by. He started lying about things and if it goes to court he'll probably claim I was illegally passing him on a residential street by then. Little by little he's changed his story so far. My view, he negligently failed to check his side view to ascertain that it was safe to pull into lane much less to cross traffic to driveway on opposite side of street. I had the police come out but officer said he is supposed to write a ticket if he can but he didn't see it and didn't feel able to write a ticket. He didn't even record our respective views on the accident at the time. So much for professional witness. He might still be useful if there is a court appearance, but it would be nice if it didn't come to that I suppose. It seems that police here don't write tickets to protect motorcyclists from disregard of car drivers. The kid's dad says he wants to possibly try to save the kid's insurance by paying me on the side for damages. I may have bent forks, anti-dive busted off, bits of signal plastic and other stuff all about. I haven't had a good daylight look at it yet but it rolled all the way over onto the left side cowling so I expect bad things. I had removed side plastics but also engine guards while I'm working on some stuff. 1. Should I have this painful, firm, tuna can sized lump on my thigh checked out? 2. Should I try to deal with this guy or just go to my agent? Got Liability only. 3. Please give me a ballpark estimate of costs if you're able, sorry the description is so vague but I need orders of magnitude. 4. I have the blue color for 1993, what other years had this same color and what is it called? 5. What am I not even thinking of that I should be concerned over? The car insulated the young kid from the accident while I took it on physically with my motorcycle and myself.

While at work today, I walked to our mailbox and just as I turned to go bac to the office, I hear a motocycle coming towards me. Well of course I looked up and I saw a very nice looking MK2 blonde go by and turn into the dealer next door. When I got done with work, 15 minutes later, I go to the dealer to get some YamaLube to change the oil in my "84. Well, the owner of the MK2 was still inside. He is the owner of one of the local construction companies. We had a nice chat inside and then went and looked at his bike. He told me he got it form a guy on ebay form Corsica, SD. It is a 1987 Royale and has many of the extra bells and whistles, including but not limited to, venturline trunk rack, venturline drivers backrest and what look to me to be some sort of original driving lights. Of course I told him about the VentureRiders.org and all the help that I have recieved from all the great folks here. He is looking for some fairing parts since someone in the past damaged the right rear corner and tried to fix it with bondo. Hope to see him here, and on the road, soon. Dave

I owne and ride 35000km a year mostly two up, on a 08 Concours 14, but my wife received knee replacement surgery and we decided for the adventure to continue that a more comfy ride was needed, so I purchased a 1991 Venture Royale with 106000km and will receive it next week-end, I also purchase a 1983 VR, stripped the bike completely for parts(mk1 and mk2 have alot in common but some parts are different), this site is really full of great expertise and helps me plan on making my new ride as efficient possible. I will change and inspect parts defective, all fluids and grease where needed. Based on my reading, special attention and replacement of front forks springs to progressive, new steering bearing, fork brace and my favorite 'brakes, I tried and really dont like the linked brakes system and would like to delink, plus my right rotor is fried blue and needs replacement and will upgrade to R6 Calipers witch I got a pair in the garage. I figured finding a pair of rotor would be easy to find because on my C14 I have spare parts like, complete forks and brake parts, exhausts etc. All bought on eBay and really cheap. Surprise no front rotors and worse no new rotors, except the Chinese whom have 282mm but only 5mm thick and ???quality. There seems no compatibility except certain early VMax or Fj, but nothing offered, those rotos are rare to say the least. Anybody with a mk2 right rotor. Mike

Mk2 rear hub interchange
Grisolm1 posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
While doing the vmax rear swap I noticed my wheel hub's teeth are about 1/3 worn off. Plenty of Mk1 wheels on Flebay. Will a good hub from one of these fit a Mk2? What about Vmax or 2nd gens? Inquiring minds want to know. -
Right inner fairing and pocket!
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
just adding this here, i'm looking for a 1st gen mk2 inner right fairing and pocket.. anyone got one laying around ? -
I have an 85 trunk that I want to put on my 84. I have the trunk and the bracket that holds it but I'm missing the bar that holds the antenna. Does anyone have one that will fit they'd be willing to part with? I was wondering if the Mk2 would be the same. 84 is shorter so won't reach past the edge of the trunk and is not attached the same way. Wayne

Hey Gang, I am SLOWLY trying to get the old 86'VR back on the road after the trailer accident and was wondering if anyone has a front fender skirt or "Mud Flap" for a First Gen. MK2 that they would like to part with. If you had the fasteners as well that would be more than I could hope for but if not that's OK. I've been trying to buy a fender with one off of Ebay and the prices have been unbelievable! I would be very grateful for any help in locating this item. I can PayPal you or send a check. Thanks in advance, Earl
