So after being tipped off by DarkLeftArm about a 1st Gen carcass in a motorcycle junkyard behind a local shop, I finally stopped in to see what was there. There were actually 2, but one is very gone. The other is stripped, but has some good parts left. The shop seems very reasonable on selling parts off of them. It seems to be a MK1, 83 to 85 vintage. The guy at the shop said he would look for paperwork to confirm actual year. I’m thinking of seeing what I could buy the one carcass for and then strip it down. Wish it was a MK2. Here are some pictures. If anybody needs anything off of these, let me know. Thinking maybe the hitch sale would pay for the carcass and then i could 'Pay Forward the other parts and stuff.

I'm curious, and wonder if any of you have any knowledge on the matter. this 87 blonde is mechanically very sound, but i'm finding more and more bodywork that is cracked, specifically on the right hand side. i think it went down on that side, or may hve dropped from a standstill. it's all cracking to bits, and i'm not sure what years will fit? would bodywork from a mk1 fit a mk2? also, i'm considering going over the inside of all the larger plastic pieces with fiberglass to strengthen it. anyone done that?

Let's try this again. I quit monitoring the other thread because activity got slow and those requesting parts that I did have seemed to not follow through when I PM'd them letting them know that I did have the parts they were looking for. But I, noticed today that there had been some recent activity that I was unaware of. So, I'm starting this new thread to let everyone know that I do still have a bunch of 1 gen parts mostly MK1 83- 85 but some MK2 86-93 parts. Most of the most asked about plastic is gone but I do have the following left 83-85 MK1 both saddle bags tank cover rear fender Complete frame Almost complete engines 1200 and 87 1300 controls parts and cables brakes and system parts and a bunch of other misc parts I would like to move them and get them out of the work space and I'm done trying the ebay route so these parts are going super cheap and in some cases free as long you will pay for shipping. If you need some thing PM me what it is and I will answer you back by PM. I'm real motivated to help out other members by clearing these parts out to new homes that need them.

OK I just got done sorting out some parts and here's what I'm trying to get rid of next. I have 2 left mirrors in fair condition, one has rashed chrome, the other has "whited out" reflective surfaces around the edge of the mirror. Both are serviceable and better thsn no mirror at all. $5 each to cover the flat rate shipping to US. I also have a couple of MK1 front fairing frames in good shape. Pay shipping or pick up and they are yours. I also have 2 pair of stock horns. Pay shipping, probably $5 flat rate box will work. 3 pair of MK1 passenger grab rails in good shape, rust free. Pay shipping. I have a ton of other parts I will be getting rid of over the winter. If there is something specific you are looking for PM me...

Saw 4 1st gen ventures total other than mine. A awesome Mk II two tone gold Royale, a Burgundy Mk1 that was in great shape that I parked next to for a few hours. A black two tone Mk II royale that looked brand new! Wow that was a sweet looking bike. and a Burgundy Mk1 that.... well.... I've seen parts bikes that looked in better shape. but it ran! I see 2nd gens all over the place, but they disappear into the harleys so you have to look close, some very nice custom ones. and NO fjr1300's. I wanted to show my wife one and there is none to be seen. I'll post some photos later, Having too much fun.

I now have a complete front fork assembly with upper and lower triple trees for a MK1 ist gen, in need of a rebuild. Shocks leak like a seive but it is low mileage parts. Only 15K on bike. Hydraulic anti dive units included. You pay shipping costs or pick up. Also have complete set of MK1 calipers available in working condition but probably should be rebuilt seeing they are 25 years old... Last, a MK1 front fairing frame in very good condition, virtually rust free. If you need any of these things, just PM or call me. These items are free for the asking. I need them out of my garage...

A few weeks back I changed rear tires and noticed wear on the spines on ring gear. I thought about swaping ring gear and plate with a MK1 84 which I have on hand off a parts bike but noticed that bolt pattern is different. But my question is: Does any one know why I can't swap the whole pumpkin on my MK2 87 XVZ1300 with a 84 MK1 XVZ1200 pumpkin by unbolting from the drive shaft end from swing arm. Will they interchange without a problem.

I have been searching all morning for what to use to replace my fuse panel with something that is far better and more modern. what have the rest of you used? what fit's in the same spot? I really want blade fuses, and would like to expand it from the all used up 6 circuit to an 8 circuit to allow me to separately fuse accessories. Also has anyone upgraded the switched with a relay and a secondary fuse panel?
