Im sure if there is anything out there for motorcycles that acts as a blind spot sensor. What got me thinking about it is an 05 pacifica that im parting out. It has a back up system that uses leds as a warning device. Unfortunately its tied into the cluster computer system otherwise i could yank it and mount it in the bags with leds under the mirrors. Any thoughts or ideas?

I'm putting my 1993 VR all back together right now but I'm confused about how certain parts are supposed to be assembled. My primary points of confusion are with the lower part of the upper cowling and the mirrors. I didn't take pics of mine like I had planned to when I was taking it apart and can't seem to find any on the site that just show a VR with all the side covers removed except the upper cowling. The parts fiche isn't really easy to understand where this area is concerned. The mirrors look like they should be supported better than just mounting them on top of the ABS plastic covering the metal frame in that spot. It looks like it would be easy to crack the ABS by mounting a mirror there but I don't see any spacers spelled out in the arts fiche or anything. This information on body plastics is sorely lacking here on the site, there is nothing in the read-only Tech Library section for First Gen. With the loss of some of the older photos from threads I was unable to find anything promising in a search of the First Gen Tech Talk area. Please help out if you can?

Has anyone found a good set of similar to stock mirrors that have an extended stem. With the addition of my dog trailer I need some additional height to my mirrors to see over it. The right side is a left handed thread on the RSV. I just found that out as well so the vast majority on the market will not work. I wouldn't mind just adding an extension, but again they are right handed as well. Thanks

I want to put convex mirrors on the top outside corner of the OEM mirrors. I"m thinking the 2 inch convex might be too big but I haven't been able to find anything smaller. For a 1st Gen Mk II Any suggestions? I'd suggest it is so I can keep an eye on the 2nd gens behind me...but I am looking for help here so I guess I'd better not.

ok, so if your tall like me (6'3), you might have some problems with 1st gen mirrors. i do. i see mostly shoulder, and that wasnt cutting it any longer. i had a difficult time finding mirrors for our ride that have a 1" center-to-center mounting. in fact, i couldnt find any at all. several hours worth of research later, and i decided to do this: i used the old mounts, bought some mirrors from Dennis Kirk (after looking through dozens of them!), and hooked em up!. the mirrors came in a pair for 16.00 plus shipping. i like the price as well as, the cool 80's look they have. they are EMGO ROADHAWKS. first, i removed the old mirror from the mount. then, i drilled out the hole to hold the new mirror. fit perfectly, except....you cant fit a 10mm nut in there. so...i drilled out a space for the nut to fit in, being careful to not drill it out fully. i didnt want the nut to spin around. problem solved! a little finessing, some locktite and final adjustments....VOILA! custom mirrors. enjoy!

I have been thinking that turn signals could be added to the stock Gen 1 mirrors. Has anyone seen this or tried it?

Mine wants a new air horn, vented wind screen and new mirrors. Letter sent to Santa last night!

I was unhappy with the positioning of my mirrors after putting the Flanders bars on my RSTD. Seemed like I had to turn my head too far to look at the mirrors. So I bought some bar clamps and moved the mirrors forward as seen in these pictures. Had to buy some mirror stems because I could not find any metric reverse thread nuts for the stock stem that required it. Now I only have to slightly turn my head !

On my way to work this morning driving the Company truck. A scooter passed me on the Interstate before daylight doing about 80. I barley seen him coming with the frosted mirrors on the truck. My outside temp guage said 32. What is the windchill running 80 at 32 outside. Must be one of those electric suits he was wearing.

Had a little oopsie today and cracked the swivel part of the mirror. The base is still good and no other damage to the bike. Had a quick search on eBay and did not find any for sale. Found a few old threads referring to tapping the base for aftermarket MC mirrors or perhaps using Ford Ranger mirrors, 91 or earlier I think. Anyone done either of these mods? Only 14 days before I need to leave for Cody and I'm having a panic attack.

I'm looking for one of those to put on the sidecar (which will make my wife happy). I know JCWhitney has some very basic ones, but I am looking for a door mount style with a cone shaped housing. I need the right hand side one. Every website I have gone to either requires a log in or asks for a make and model. They just don't seem to list my sidecar. A friend of mine has an old car sitting in a barn but he seems reluctant to let me pull the mirror off. Something about it being worth 60K (as is). If you have one of this style mirrors lying around and want to part with it shoot me a pics and price; if you're better at surfing the web and finding this kind of stuff, I'd appreciate the link. Y'all have a great weekend, riding tomorrow!! :happy65:

Yep. Title says it. I've got my first bike. First thing to do is change all the fluids, get new tires and for the Love of Larry, I gotta get rid of those damn flame mirrors. I can't see diddly through 'em. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/GAWildKat/Volusia%20Intruder/Volusia-HDR.jpg Here's the best photo I have of it so far. If you want to see more of the baby http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v281/GAWildKat/Volusia%20Intruder/ ^ go that way!

A friend of mine got bar end mirrors for her Norton. Anyone ever try these on a Venture or RSTD? Ever ride with them? Do they make whistling noises? She says they make a handy clearance gauge when she is "white lining". It's sure a different look, and maybe impossible to get used to. Dave

I just finished mounting and wiring my rear view camera and display today, and it works like a charm!! Now I can see the whole world behind me right up to my trunk!! With the type of driving Ido, which is a lot of interstates as well as main roads, I have my left and right mirrors adjusted the way they would be on a cage, with the right miror looking down the lane on my right, and the left mirror down the left lane. I have a pair of parabolic mirrors on each mirror which helps the view directly behind me but not as good as I like. Now with the camera and display I can see everything I want and need to see!! Glad I made Becky buy me this for my birthday last month...:wow:

FWIW, here are a couple of pics of the final version of my mirror mount mod: Billet Aluminium mirror mount http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad39/UxHamby/vehicles/bike3/7204bc1f.jpg?t=1276049880 Mirrors from Ebay http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad39/UxHamby/vehicles/bike3/79c1c8ab.jpg?t=1276050706 I think they look good and the new mirrors have worked out much better than my old OEM mirrors which just wouldn't stay put anymore. Hope this if of interest. Cheers, Brian H.

Hi, I got tired of the original mirrors on my bikes, for various age related reasons, so I built a mount that adapts the Venture 2 screw mount to take the conventional M10 x 1.25 threaded shank of a conventional motorcycle stalk mirrors. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/ad39/UxHamby/vehicles/bike4/98280491.jpg?t=1275875559 I built a couple of different versioins before settling on a final design. The pair that were the version before last, as shown in the picture above, are quite useable but will now only sit in my junk box, so I thought I'd offer them 'Free To Good Home', to anyone here at VR.org who's interested in having them. They were hand fabricated as prorotypes so certainly don't look 'laser cut' or anythng, but are entirely functional and quite presentable I think. They are a left hand / right hand threaded pair for compatibility with Yamaha mirrors. LMK if you'd like them. (BTW, I bought the mirrors I used on Ebay as shown in ebay auctions 110370409134 and 110515482095. I am quite happy with both.) Cheers, Brian H.

I must admit to having had MY car set up improperly. Take less than 2 minutes to properly adjust the mirrors on your car, saving both your life and others. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwzUE6PHk4U]YouTube- AutoFocus - Are your car mirrors adjusted correctly?[/ame]

Has anyone tried the split mirrors? The ebay link below shows an example of what I am talking about. So far I have only found them to fit a Harley. It seems like it would add a lot of extra viewing area. Has anyone mounted a Harley fitting mirror on their RSV? What is necessary to make the conversion? These mirrors do not appear to have any Harley branding on them so it wouldn't cause any goofy questions or comments. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350270020543&_trksid=p2759.l1259 Merry Christmas to all

I saw a Venture in Forestburg TX awhile back that had replaced both stock mirrors with a style that had LED turn signal indicators in them. Anyone know where to get these?

I guess after 11 years, what ever friction material holding the mirrors on my RSTC is starting to give up. I constantly have to readjust them. Short of super glue or duct tape has anyone come up with a way to tighten up the swivel joint between the back of the mirror and the mounting arm?

Gonna take a camping trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive. Turns out the tent/chair/sleeping bag W/air mattress is taller than the mirrors can see over. has anyone seen a taller mirror (2" ought to do it). Or maybe tried stacking two of the OEM extensions on top of each other??? Was thinking of stacking the extensions, but don't know that the treads are the same.

During a ride on my 2nd gen today, it occurred to me that the rear view mirrors are kind of small and insignificant for such a fabulous masculine machine. Has anyone replaced the originals with something that is functional, good looking and clear viewing? Thanks. Jdix.
