I was told by a fellow VentureRider that it is not if, but rather when my VR will go over. Well, it did recently, and left some minor scars on the corner of the fairing. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make these scars that you can see in the pictures less visible without repainting the fairing?

So .... Having completed the IBA SaddleSore 1000 on my XS750, I am in desperate need of something comfier ... Mrs Twigg is all for this idea I found This: http://i1092.photobucket.com/albums/i418/twigg2324/1986%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale/IMG_0465.jpg It has done 56 000 miles, and has a few issues, mostly cosmetic, but not all. It needs some love, and I shall give it some. It needs minor things in the main, but they add up to quite a bit of work, so I will be busy.

For those who were at the Pork in the Pines and asking about Cheap Shot. Just spoke with him a while ago, and he is OK. Minor little glitch in his life. Other than that, all is well with him and his lovely co-pilot.

Just returned from Illinois with a 2008 RSV. Yamaha's are new to me as I've always been a GW rider until I got stupid and dumped mine off a 12 ft deep embankment, but I couldn't resist this bike when I found out it only had 1969 miles on it and the previous owner just needed to get out from under the payments. So far like a lot of posts I've read the biggest problem has been getting use to moving my feet forward instead of straight up. The other thing is the engine sounds a bit tinny to me compared to the 6 cyl wing, and doesn't have near the power. Other then those minor changes I love my RSV. I'll be making some changes to the lighting as soon as my pocketbook allows and possibly a seat upgrade. Thanks to everyone who has posted what they've done to improve this great machine. Hope to meet some other RSV riders who live around the DFW area. Until then keep the shiny side up. Jim

I'm pretty good about riding with a helmet, mostly because I like tunes as I ride. Tonight I'm away from home assisting tomorrow in the MS150 ride for Multiple Sclerosis, I went to top off the tank and could hear some minor rubbing on the rear brake rotor (only in one spot, not all the tme) Do you think opening the reservoir or the brake line bleeder valve solve the issue? Just did my first carb synch on my bike and I have a quick question. While taking off the rubber hose from one of the carbs I noticed it had a cut/split, does it have to be replaced or is it just a minor thing? BTW: 1st time doing it by myself = 20 minutes. Saved $250 and 8 hours because that's what the shop wants.

Made some minor mods. What do you think?

OK folks...I am going to have to update the software here to address some recently discovered security holes. I am getting ready to do it now so if you see some minor hiccups...don't panic. I will be panicking enough for all of us.

Ok, I'm on a roll now. I been putting it off all winter and now the bike is close to being ready to ride and I am finding more things to mess with. I had my saddlebags and trunk down in my basement shop cleaning them up and installing new LED marker lights where the reflectors were. A little wiring, making bags liners for the bottom, just killing time. Now I got the polishing compound and the wax flying and I notice there are a few minor, very minor cracks in the bottom of the bags and at the back where the mounting studs are. If I press around them they show up pretty good when I put pressure around them other wise they are not much more than hair line. No biggie, I'll just run a bead of epoxy on the inside and tie them back together. Now I never noticed this before so maybe I'm not paying enough attention but when I opened the bags to look at the cracks from the inside they aren't there. Before I strip down the bag shells and remove the aluminum edging are these shells laminated or what? They don't appear to be two layers but cracked on one side and not the other? Not possible. There is no damage to the bags, just a few hairline cracks. I'd prefer not to make repairs to the outside until the day comes that I decide to do what minor body work needs to be done and do a new paint job. Stress cracks make me crazy.

Hello all, First off I just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a great christmas and a wonderful new year. I have not posted here in a while as I have been dealing with some health issues, which I think for the moment have passed. On another note I got rid of my last remaining motox bike, traded it off for a 87 venture royale with all the goodies. Now I have to decide which one to keep,I also have a white 88. As some of you may recall last winter I made a bad judgment call and took the 88 out for a joy ride in the beginning of february, nothing wrong with that unless you live in wisconsin and it's 10 below. I got the 88 back to running cond. however it still needs some work. top trunk lid, a good right side fairing, head light bezel, other minor plastic repair and paint. The new to me 87 needs a air ride controller and holder, and a few other very minor details. the po gave me reciepts with the bike totaling 1500.00 that he just stuuck into it this last spring. Which include all new carb slides and diaphragms, carb sync, valve adjustment, valve cover gaskets and seals, clutch, Tci and other misc. however this bike has 80000 miles on it wher as the 88 has just under 30000. also I really like the look of the 88. well that is about it for now just wanted to say hey and that I missed you all Kurt

After not riding for 25 years I purchased another Royale. Having to do some work on it to get things back to where i'd like them. Here's one. After replacing the speakers I discovered the cassette deck still works fine. It just needs a little nudge in FF to get it to play. I would like to find the cover that goes over it if someone has it. The radio took a little more work, after cleaning the contacts I now have a radio that works without having to hit it. I do still have some minor issues; I am getting static from the speakers with the bike in gear from idle up to about 2500RPM (not sure since it is hard to tell when driving). Also get feedback from the speakers when I turn on the ignition switch, it's like the hissing you used to get when a (tv)station went of the air but much softer. Any suggestions? I took the two button remote apart to see what I could see. It now works as well. One minor problem, I had three springs roll out of it; two to hold the metal balls for the contacts and one slightly longer, thinner one. No clue where that fits, but no biggie since the remote works. Just curious! Lastly, since I cleaned the contacts and got the radio to work it seems that i've had more E4 errors. Coincidence or are they connected some way.

We went to Freedom Fest this weekend and put about 7 and a quarter on the clock. Had a great time and this was our 4th year. Not sure what happened but there were 3 times more bikes this year than in the past. Weather was good the whole time and it was tough leaving there this morning in the 60's and as we got closer to Fredericksburg this afternoon it was 95 or so. What a realitity check? We made our way up to Black Water Falls Park on Friday and the roads were great everywhere we went. I did see one 05 (I'm guessing) Silver Venture on the road and a 99 to 01 two tone green on Saturday as they pulled through the Exxon lot at the vendors and kept on going. I was going to walk over and see if he was a member. Oh well, maybe next time. I did have one minor issue with the bike not wanting to start. I checked the battery and sure enough there was the gray looking film on the cable. Cleaned it the best I could with the knife and that solved the problem. So when you're doing your maintenance don't forget to shine up those cables. Hope everyone has a good week. Spotsy

Hey folks, any suggestions on a bike jack to lift up the bike in my garage to clean and do minor repairs. Any suggestions and tips are useful. Thanks, John...
