*** "SOLD" *** DossDan's Son Got It! Glad he'll get more use out of it. I'm moving this Summer and I don't have the means or desire to drag this parts machine and my stores of parts along with me... I have a 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale XVZ13DW WITH TITLE Free for Pickup by the end of May. Bike has been partially parted-out to feed my running machine. All body plastic still in beautiful condition (maroon). Engine blew head gasket in ~2010 and appeared to be seized on my last crank attempt in 2017 and remains in frame. I have 2 working rear monoshocks in addition to a blown unit from my running bike. The parts bike monoshock is included and works, it's just no longer attached . I also have multiple radios, antennas, CBs, floorboards, trim pieces, odds and ends and other items in addition to the parts I pulled off the hanger queen. I would love for someone to get some use out of all these parts, however 2 local salvage yards have passed on the offer due to the surplus of this make/model in their parts bins (which I find hard to believe). I'm located in Gladwin Michigan near the intersection of state highways 30 and 61. Reply to thread with any questions about what I've got and I'll reply the same way. Contact me with PM for date and time arrangements for pickup.

After being in the used bike business for over 40 years my wife and I sold out.. It had taken me a few years to come to the conclusion that the economy, at least here in Michigan, had probably gone beyond that point of probable recovery within the working years I have left.. I discovered, much to my disadvantage, that even waiting the 6 years to do this cost us thousands of dollars in lost revenue. Instead of the .75 on the dollar we could have gotten on inventory 6 years ago we ended up at about .30 on the dollar.. Dont misunderstand though, even though I do have real mixed emotions about seeing all my bikes and inventory go I still am thankful that it sold.. This last season was a real eye opener for us.. Couple of quick examples, Had a complete 2003 anniversary Harley motor and trans - less than 4k miles on it, TC88, started at 2400 a year ago, went to 1800, 1500 (lots of offers to sell at 500) finally sold to a custom shop for 900. Another one was a good old 1986 Honda XR350 that was street legalized (pre 9/11 we sold a number of these converted XR's and never under 2), it was a gorgeous bike!! Started out at 1700, early summer dropped to 14, late summer dropped to 9 (I had almost that in parts in a complete top end - lots of lookers and people wanting to trade for cameras and boats and lawnmowers and on and on).. Finally a guy drove all the way from Wisconsin to get it for 600 bucks.. I am still gonna spin wrenches and buy and sell (wife says I have two stroke oil for blood) BUT at an extremely downsized rate.. So here is a question for you folks, I still struggle with the idea that this Michigan recession is really that bad across our country.. If we moved out of our beloved state and headed for a warmer, dryer (low humidity) climate - is there anywhere in the country that still seems to be economically desirable for bike resale - off road, on road dont matter.. Have you folks who live in these climates noticed a slow down on sales of motorcycles (or quads) you have seen sitting in peoples front yards? Are there any of you who have attended live auctions thru the years and noticed a steep decline in local auction prices for bikes and related stuff or is does your area seem to be holding steady? I welcome any input on the subject matter!! Thanks Scott

Well, it's drawing closerso it's time to make plans! On Wednesday Sep 6th we are saddling up and heading for Mt. Rushmore on the trike! First stop Wednesday night is the suburban Detroit area to visit with my sister in Bloomfield Hills. We are also planning on hooking up with Ragtop69GS for a brief time and hopefully any of you Michigan people wanting to meet up lets make plans. Our goal is to get to SW Michigan by Thursday evening. By Friday be almost across Wisconsin, Saturday across into South Dakota, and actually be in the Mt Rushmore area by Monday. Our timetable is very flexable! Our primary route is Interstate 90 west of Chicago going out, and Interstate 80 on the way back. We want to meet up with Ventureriders along the route!! It was a great thing to do this last winter when we went to Florida, and are looking forward to meeting more people face to face!! So if you are along our route, let us know and we will try to meet up for coffee, a meal, or whatever!! Being retired we have no real timetable but want to get back in 2 weeks or so, a week out and a week back...

I have never been there. I am planning on maybe a mid to late June weekend trip down. Leave early Friday morning, ride the Tail a few times on Saturday and some of the surrounding scenic roads. Then head back to Michigan early Sunday morning. Any interest in a group thing? If so, I could look for some rooms to book. Let me know your thoughts. Randy

Looking for riders to join us on the Midnight Run, the weekend of Aug 20th. The ride is sponsored by GWRRA - Michigan Chapter G. The ride starts 12:00am (midnight) in Rockford, MI, Saturday Aug 20 and arrives at the Mackinaw Bridge around 8:00am with 4 schedule stops along the way. Many events are schedule during the day at the Kewadin Casino in St Ignace, MI. More information can be found at http://www.mi-gmidnightriders.org/2011midnight_ride.htm. Those interested, a group will be putting their kickstands up at 8:00 pm, Friday Aug 19, at US-23 and North Territorial Rd, which is exit 49. We have a block of rooms reserved in Mackinaw City, but not many remain available. After taking in the schedule events and a nap, planning on a dinner run later that evening. Those who are not interested in riding the early hours of the morning, let’s plan a ride to meet the Midnight Riders Saturday morning. So VentureRiders in and around southeastern Michigan area let’s see if we can get to know each other and enjoy a weekend ride together.

THE RULES OF RURAL MICHIGAN ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1. Pull your droopy pants up. You look like an idiot. 2. Turn your cap right, your head isn't crooked. 3. Let's get this straight; it's called a 'dirt road.' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way. 4. They are cattle. They're live steaks. That's why they smell funny to you. But they smell like money to Michigan farmers. Get over it. Don't like it? I-94 goes east and west, I-75 goes north and south. Pick one. 5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. Grain farmers have $350,000 combines that they drive only 3 weeks a year. 6. So every person in rural Michigan waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept. 7. If that cell phone rings while an 8-point buck and 3 does are coming in, we WILL shoot it out of your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time. 8. Yeah, we eat taters, gravy, beans and cornbread. You really want sushi and caviar? It's available at Jim's bait shop... 9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer season. It's religious holiday held on the 15th of November. 10. We open doors for women. That applies to all women, regardless of age. 11. No, there's no 'vegetarian special' on the menu. Order steak. Or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham & turkey. 12. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three seasonings - salt, pepper, and ketchup. Oh, yeah....We don't care what you folks in Detroit call that stuff you eat...IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!! 13. You bring 'coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice. 14. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be homegrown, cute, knows how to shoot, drive a truck, and she better have long hair.. 15. College and high school football/basketball are as important here as the Lions and the Pistons .... And more fun to watch. 16. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards -- it spooks the fish. 17. Colleges? We have them all. We have State Universities , Community Colleges, and Voc-techs. Folks come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at everybody when they come for the holidays.. 18.Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump crap ain't music, anyway..We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers. Refer back to #1. 19. Four inches of snow isn't a blizzard - it's lite flurry's. Drive in it like you got some sense, and DON'T take all our bread, milk, and bleach from the grocery stores. This ain't Alaska . Worst case you may have to live a whole day without croissants. The pickups with snowplows will have you out the next day. 20. By the way.... If you want to talk to God in Michigan , it's a local call.

I was stopped at the Rail Road tracks in Genesee today and a black RSV pulled up next to me flying the USA flag and a POW-MIA flag on the antenna's. I tried to talk to you but you either didn't hear me or just didn't want to talk to someone in a green van. Was it someone from here?

Well, the good news is that Eileen, Dylan and I are on our way to Texas. We had planned to leave tomorrow but got away late today. Only drove about 5 1/2 hours or so but made it just south of Louisville, KY today and stopped early. The bad news is that I got an email from my company today. I need to enjoy this vacation because they just told me that they are increasing my territory. I used to have Ohio, Western PA and Western NY. They then replaced Western PA and Western NY and gave me Indiana and Michigan. Now they are telling me that I am keeping Ohio, Indiana and Michigan but they are adding back Western PA and Western NY and also giving me all of Kentucky and all of West Virginia. So there are some busy times when I get back from vacation. Oh well...I DO still have a job.
