Anybody have a jet block gasket for an 83? I probably have to swap another carb body out. I got everything back together and on the bike, and got it started. I was then checking that all the mixture screws were set the same. They all turned execpt for one. I could feel the screwdriver slipping so I took a look. The head of the screw was starting to strip out. I tried a few more times to get it out, but it would not budge. Then I tried an easyout, which broke. They must have had The Hulk put this screw in. It will not budge. Luckily, I have a spare carb body, already soaking in the parts washer. Just need a gasket to swap the jet block into the new carb. Also, anyone in Columbus, Ohio have a carb sync tool to use? I have an old Motion Pro mercury set, but I loaned it to someone a few years ago, and they were kind enough to let it fall over and it lost about half of the mercury. Pretty sure there is not enough left to use it properly. Thanks in advance

So my buddy had his manometer laying on the garage floor with half of the Mercury laying right next to it. I tried everything from a syringe to scooping up with a flat piece of paper and could only get half back in. He decided to let me have the now useless gueges. Is it trash? can I purchase or collect enough from old thermostats or can I substitute someother material for mercury?

I have had for 15+ years a mercury sync stick. Lately during sync's on my venture, I have noticed a 'clear' substance, of different amounts, rises in the tubes above the mercury, and got me wondering when I sync'd, lineing up the mercury line, if I was really in true sync-ie:is the clear substance changing the vacum level imposted on the mecury? So today I decided to check calibration, went to fish store an got 5 way hose adapter, and applied vacum with pump up mityvac. My mercury lines are off a little +-.5", but more interesting, I had to apply continous vacum, as vacum bleed off fast, and was unable to hole mercury at a constant level to be sure where mercury was really at. Considering opening mercury tank and removing the clear substance, and vacum test all the lines/tubes. Q. Is it normal for sync sticks to bleed vacum? Supposedly thru the liquid mercury pool

AFAIK there are four affordable (Under $100) carb sync tools on the market for four cylinder motorcycles. The Morgan Carbtue which uses stainless steel rods do indicate vacuum levels about £55 (aprox US$82) or £62 (aprox US$92) with a tool pouch (Mechanical) http://www.carbtune.co.uk/Images/SSL11411SC.jpg Emgo Gauge Set which uses four vacuum gauges to indicate vacuum levels about $70 (Mechanical) http://www.denniskirk.com/denniskirk/b2c/product_images/3/8/0/600pix/38040005.jpg Motion Pro SyncPRO which uses "New mercury-free design uses non toxic manometer fluid" (Liquid) about $100.00 http://www.motionpro.com/images/enlarged/08-0411.jpg And my personal choice the mercury manometer (AKA mercury Carb Sick) that costs about $55 and will NEVER go out of adjustment, however the mercury is not a nice substance to have around your home... and to transport it you need to drain it. (Liquid) http://www.saber-cycle.com/store/media/parts/08-010.jpg CLICK HERE TO BUY ONE if they still exist Does anybody know of any other affordable (under $100) for the home mechanic Carburetor Synchronizer tools that are on the market???????

it is now 2:57 am and I just rode home from working on my motorcycle. Along the way I was thinking it was a mite nippy out.---When I got home I decided to check the outdoor thermometer.--- Well what can I say the mercury was sitting at 27 deg F ( -6 C ).---kinda explains it don't it

I bought an old mercury style carb stick from someone and when I used it today (1st time) it darn near sucked mercury into the manifold! I yanked the first and second tubes off just in time I think! I think I followed SOP? I warmed the bike, shut down, attached the hoses, started engine, and began to adjust 1and 2. I had bliped the throttle a couple times no problem and was teeking when 1and 2 started to continually rise. no change in engine noise though. Before I pulled the plug I noticed the Mercury had seaperated with air bubbles. Any clues? I'm baffled and I dont want to suck mercury in the engine!

Today on my way home from work, I seen what I believed to be about a 2006 Venture (black cherry and raven) heading east on US-10 in Midland, Mi. I gave the riders a thumbs up and proceded to pass them in my black 2000 Mercury Sable. They then followed me into Freeland, Mi. by way of M-47. I turned off on McCarty road and they continued toward State St. in Saginaw. Was it anyone here? It was a nice looking Venture! Big Mike

on my 05 RSTD (12k miles) and it was WAY easy. If anybody in the DFW needs help, let me know, I have the mercury sticks and it didn't take 10 minutes. Now if only the valve adjustment would be this easy...
