I'm looking for a new tent to replace the one I've had since I was in my teens. Which is a 6' dome tent. It still suits me fine when I'm alone, but my better half dosen't like it very much. She's not big on camping like I am. So I got her an air mattress to make her more comfortable, but it won't fit in my dinky little dome tent. I borrowed my parents tent a few times and depended on tents others brought with them that were big enough to put the air mattress in for the past few years. But I feel like a mooch when I do that. Due to her bad back, I need a tent that is big enough to stand up in. And big enough to sleep about 6, so we have enough room to put down two mattresses if need be and/or to put all the extra gear in out of the weather if needed to. I'm looking for a dome tent that big but not to heavy and not take up a lot of room in the trailer. I was also hoping not to spend any more than $150 - $250. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Bill

Hi guys, After pitching my tent in Scooter & Karen's back yard Saturday, I believe I'm just not quite as young as I used to be. I've never needed anything under me except my sleeping bag for a good nights sleep. Unless of course I had the wife with. Then I had a queen sized, double thick air mattress in a very large tent to sleep on. But due to recent events, I find only myself in my small tent. Nope, I still haven't given up all hope for us as of yet. But any who, or is that any whom? I need suggestions for a small, good air mattress or cushion for just myself to sleep on. Small and light when stowed is a must. Or at least preferred. Thanks guys! Bill

Last night I had a hard time falling asleep. No idea why. And I was up a few times during the night which is also not normal for me. This morning I got woke up early feeling really cold and clammy. While lying in that half awake state trying to figure out just what was going on, is when I noticed that everything around me was soaked. The sheets, blanket, pillow, everything. So now I am trying to figure out if I just had night sweats or heaven forbid, did I wet the bed..... Well that thought got me out of the half awake state and into a get the heck out of the bed quick state and head for the shower. But wait no that would be a bad idea since I still need to strip all up the bedding and get it down in the wash. I should do that BEFORE I take a shower. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am not a morning person, just because my body is up and moving does not mean that my brain is up and/or functioning. So I run all of the bedding down to the basement and toss the first load into the wash machine (with no phones included,,,,,sorry:stickpoke:) well now the wash machine is filling so I certainly do not want to get in the shower with the hot water turning on and off. So I grab some cleaning stuff to clean up the mattress. First I dried if off as best I could with some towels and took those down to the basement. when I got back up stairs and was about to start scrubbing the mattress, its like WTF it is all wet again. so I grab some more towels and dry it off again. and this time just start to clean it right away. WTF again there is a little squirt of liquid that shoots up out of the mattress toward the headboard. That is when it finally dawns on me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, tonight I get to go shopping for a new king size waterbed mattress to replace this 34 year old one....... It sure is a good thing that Erika is still not home with her bum foot yet. We would have been accusing each other of wetting the bed, and that old water on her bum foot would have been really bad news.

So I was without my daughter this past weekend and had a wild hair to go camping. After getting all my gear together that I normally take (in the car) ... there was no room for me on the bike. King size Air mattress, Tent, Deep Cycle Marine Battery (have to run a CPAP to sleep at nite), etc.... I started to look at options. Most places wanted 30.00 to get a site without electric....so I still would need the battery... 40 or more for a campsite with electric (a bit high but saves me from lugging the battery) Cabins were 100+ (not going to spend 100 on a cabin for myself... might as well get a hotel room) Then I foound this place...almost right where I wanted to be camping ANYWAY. http://www.steelsteedscamp.com/ for 45 a nite... they gave me a HUGE tent with a REAL king sized bed (no air mattress) sheets (nice thread count too), electricity to my tent and all the over fluffy towels I needed for the wekend! Bob was super nice (owner / manager) They also had travel trailers for rent (A/C etc) and other tents with air mattresses (for a little less). Bathrooms were SPOTLESS. If you find yourself in central PA Up around Bucknell (williamsport / State college is close enough) give them a look for a place to stay.

PRAIRIESBURG, Iowa -- The Linn County Sheriff's office is investigating a fatal crash in which a motorcyclist was struck by a mattress that flew out of the back of a pickup truck. Police said John Saddler, 73, of Cedar Rapids, was riding his motorcycle near Prairiesburg on Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a mattress that blew out of the bed of a pickup driven by Roger Ockensfels. Saddler, who was wearing a helmet, was knocked off his motorcycle and onto the shoulder of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is just unbelievable how many pick-ups do not tie things in the bed down! I see it all the time. Bryan

The Highway Patrol says 48-year-old Wesley Thompson and 45-year-old Cheryl Thompson, both of Thompson, were taken to a Grand Forks hospital. Authorities say the mattress flew off a pontoon trailer pulled by a pickup on Grand Forks County Road 18 between Thompson and Grand Forks. We all run over something once in awhile, but usually will stop when it's safe and check the vehicle out.....especially if it starts to run a little different. A woman ran over a mattress but was in too much of a hurry to stop. The mattress got caught underneath and started what she described as a "slight driveline shimmy at high speeds". She still didn't stop until it caused a hole in the fuel tank. THAT is what caused the vehicle to stop. The tow truck driver looked underneath and this is what they saw when they got it on the lift at the shop...........I wonder what a BIG shimmy would feel like?
