anyone know why I can't download these items from the tech library? It can't seem to find the files so I am wondering if this is a temporary thing or if I am out of luck. thanks

I haven't posted to much, but what a great site. I would like to thank everyone for the info that I have received already by reading previous threads. But to my problem. My 84's timing is out of the marks, and can't find any way to adjust it back. Looked through all manuals that i could find, and read what i could on this site, but couldn't find where to go! Any help at all would be great!! everything else is ready for my 10,000k trip in july except this.

I'm a new member but have been reading your posts for the last few weeks since I bought my new-to-me 1st gen. It came with a myriad of small problems, most of which have been corrected using tech info that you fine folk have posted. Many of these posts came with detailed step by step instructions and pictures to boot. As a career mechanic, I have seen repair manuals with far less information. So hats off to y'all for such a great website. Looking forward to the day when I can meet up with some of you folk. Thanks again!

Where is the relay located on a 2009 RSV. Mine has been replaced by a non self cancelling and I want to put the original back in. The service manuals on this site seem to indicate that it is under the rider seat? If so, it must be under the battery then? Thanks

I bought an '83 standard in about 40 pieces, Pretty much everything is there, trying to restore to normal. Choke cable; where does it attach at the carb end. Have and checked manuals but no mention of choke in carb sections or anywhere else, so where? Thanks in advance, Denny

I had posted on the welcome forum, but it was suggested I move my questions here. I just purchased a 1997 XVZ13AT Royal Star Tour Classic. I was always tinkering and playing with my old ride (97 Honda Shadow VLX), and plan to do so with the new one. My initial problem is that the guy I bought it from had nothing more than a single key for it, no manuals, tool kit, or anything. I don’t even know what grade oil or an oil filter number for the first change. So two initial questions to get me started: 1) I’ve seen at least 2 versions of printed service manuals and 3 versions of electronic service manuals and am looking for recommendations - both good and ones to steer clear of. Also, any good sources – used is fine. 2) The only project that is a priority is changing the pipes. The bike has performance pipes on it that, well, are too loud for me. Maybe I’m getting to old, but I’ve got to change them. I haven’t looked closely at the pipes to tell you the brand, but my initial feeling is to replace them with a complete set of used original pipes. Anyone know of any good sources? I haven’t really seen anything on E-Bay, this forum, or anywhere else I’ve looked. Anyone upgrade and looking to sell their originals? Thanks for any recommendations on either!

Is anyone else having trouble bringing up the 1st gen service manuals and parts diagrams in the 1st gen tech library? I just tried to see a wiring schematic of the later 1st gens anti-dive system and none of the manuals will come up. I have the early 1st gens repair manual but it doesn't have the schematics for the later first gens. I need to compare. Dick

Hi, this is my first attemp at this so please bear with me? My wife, Claudia Ann and i have 2 of the 1st Gen XVZs, a 1984 and a 1990. I have purchased shop manuals for each but find nothing in the manuals about either setting the idle mixture screws or how to find them on the carbs. I've read other threads that talk about the proper setting being 2 - 2 1/4 turns CCW from very carefully closed position. That's great, but i've looked at the carbs on both bikes several times and have not found what would even seem to me to be 'idle mixture screws'. I have even purchased parts manuals for both bikes and the exploded parts diagrams of the carbs and accompanying parts list does not list 'idle mixture screws' anywhere so i cannot tell even looking at these diagrams where they might be. Does anyone know what Yamaha calls these screws if it is something different than 'idle mixture screws'? It might be less confusing for those of us that new to this sort of thing if in the threads everyone would use Yamaha's term/names for parts and what is being discussed. How about a few pics to show where they are located? Anyway, thanks in advance for any help offered! fmandcac
