Hi, A very good friend of mine just moved from Wisconsin to Maine, and I'm planning a solo ride this summer up thru the UP, across the Soo and taking what 17, 417 and what appears to be 40 across Ontario thru Montreal to Augusta, Maine. Looking like a mid-late July trip What kind of roads can I expect? typical summer weather patterns in that area? Pretty long distances with few gas stations on the western side? Need to watch out for Moose? :confused24:Advice or input welcome...Have NEVER ridden in Canada...Have passport etc... but certainly need advice from riders who have been there, done that. Thanks, Clay Menomonie ,WI

Headed to Maine on Friday 3 June until Thursday the 9th. Unfortunately I'm flying from Seattle to Portland and not taking the Royal Star. If ANYONE is near Richmond Maine on Sunday the 5th of June meet me at the Richmond Grange Hall and help us celebrate my parents 55th wedding anniversary. My Dad has already invited the entire state so I'm inviting the rest of the nation.

I travel to work day in and day on my 05RSTD! I'm only grounded during ice on the road otherwise rain, snow, or heat doesn't matter I'm riding. Like my old Sergeant use to say "There is no such thing as a rusty Ranger!" Just curious on who also rides all year and how far north do you live? The Maine picture was where I lived as a kid in Loring AFB, Maine. Actually did not ride then.

In a few weeks, I will be travelling to Portsmount, NH, then all the way up the coast of Maine to Eastport. I would like some advice on hotel/motel reservations. Should I make some? And how far in advance? I really don't want to book anything ahead of time. I want to see where the wind takes me. For example, I will probably spend one night at Old Orchard Beach. I notice there are plenty of logdings along the beach there. Will I find something when I get there? With the economy the way it is, will the vacation spots be less crowded? Cheers!

My wife and I will be zooming up to Standish, Maine to check up on my house and put togeather a suprise birthday party for her mother (80). From the 18th to the 26 we will be putting on some RSV miles. If you Main-a's know of any motorcycle or local events happening during that time please let me know. Thanks. ken

Hello Friends: My brother and I are planning a trip to Maine this August via PA,NJ,NY,CT,MA,VT,NH,ME. Just wanted to know if there are any spots along the way that are a must see or visit. We will be gone around 8-9 days and hope that my new friends here on the web can give me some advice as to places to visit, ride suggestions, or anything else we should consider for this trip. No such thing as a bad suggestion, we are always open to any and all ideas! Thanks, Steve

Breakfast lunch or dinner in maine Ok I just rediscoverd this place the other day while riding around portland maine. it looks like an old private school that was converted to a restaurant. its setup Buffet style with a large selection. best bet is to head upstairs and get a chance to dine at the Dinning hall. the room is setup like an old boarding school with long tables and benches in the main hall. The schools history and menu can be found here http://www.dunstanschool.com/directions.html and incase anyone wants to plan a trip here's where it is on the map. might be a good stop for our portland meet and eat. http://www.dunstanschool.com/images/map.gif
