I'll try to explain where my problem exists. On the side of the rear fender, bolted to the fender, there is a chrome strip that the passenger "Oh Sh** handle" and the forward luggage rack support bolts to. I found two bolts missing, one for the passenger handle and the front luggage rack support. My question is; Are there nuts on the inside of that chrome strip, or are there threads built into the strip or some kind of plate fixed on the inside of the chrome strip that the bolts screw in to? Do I need to remove this strip? Does it require removal of the rear wheel? Thanks in advance for any answers.

I have an 85 that needs the seals on the luggage replaced. Asked at the dealer just for fun but they are discontinued. What are people using to seal the luggage? Where can I find it? Also are they still shpping the carb boots from the above link, $60 for 4?? TX

Just finished installing this stainless steel rack my girlfriend found on ebay. $45 bucks and some fasteners and junk I had laying around bought us a serviceable rack. This is a low budge bike from the git-go, so I'm just sticking to my theme. Thing is, due to a mixup, we ended up with 2 of these racks, so I figured if anybody else could use it, if you want to pay shipping, I'd happily give it to you. Who needs a very inexpensive generic looking luggage rack? heh heh heh

Leaving Saturday for a 12 day trip from Kansas City, MO to Bar Harbor, Maine, then down along the coast and eventually winding our way back to KC. Here's my question. When we go on our longer trips, we have a few more things than normal, and since we are going up to the NE, and the weather will be cooler and rainy from the looks of it, we will pack some extra things for that too. Now, I can get it all on the bike, including using the luggage rack, with the bag made to attach to it. When I calculate my weight that I will add on the bike, and then add myself and tailgunner, we are running pretty heavy, I think. We have done it for many miles that way but I am setup on the bike and have a nice little trailer that I can pull along... So, if I take all that weight off the bike (luggage, not tailgunner) and put it in the trailer with a tongue weight of about 20 pounds, would that be a better option? I will have less weight on the bike, but more weight behind me, and gas mileage goes down, and so forth.... So what say ye? What would be the preferred way to do this? Thanks Ex

Instead of trying to fit a trunk to my RSTD, I am interested in finding luggage that can create similar capacity to a Venture trunk and be attached the rear factory accessory luggage rack and the passenger sissy bar. Any real life experience with this type of product or suggestions would be appreciated. Mike

I need help finding replacements for the four hard rubber round washers that mount between the luggage rack and the trunk lid on an 08 RSV. I removed the rack to do some power polishing and the washers seemed to have grown legs and walked away. I have checked every local hardware store and those they have are either too small/large, or wrong strength and curl up on edges when tightened. Local dealer says I will most likely have to order another rack just to get the washers. I don't think so! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Last November I picked up a 1984 Goldwing luggage rack for my VR. It had the right mounting locations and dimensions for my large top box, and it looked to be in pretty good condition. Today I finally got around to installing it and I have attached a pdf file with pictures. Please look it over and comment Thanks! GaryZ

Just curious if anyone has ever used this vendor? http://www.rumblingpride.com/ Here is one of their mount kits that does not interfere with the trunk opening and closing? http://www.rumblingpride.com/Touring_Class_Mounting_System.htm Then of course there is always the luggage rack mounts...but don't those get in the way? I am especially interested if anyone has ordered from them before. Thanks, Wally

I just received an e mail from this ebay seller that I bought a tail bag from a couple of years ago (Motopak Luggage Roll). They have a new web site and have a 35% discount on a bunch of items. I can only speak for the Motopak roll bag and it is quality gear! Keith http://redlinemotoparts.com/

Not planning on spending $600+ on the cd changer from Yamaha but was thinking that rather than mounting my ipod on the handlebars and clutter things up, couldn't I put the iPod in the side luggage (where it will stay dry) and connect the audio out from the iPod to the pin connector for the cd ? Anyone try this ? I have a 2009 RSV. In the left side luggage is a cable which I believe is for a cd connection.

http://img1.jpcycles.com/product/831-495_A.jpgOur friends have a T Bag that sits on top of their luggage rack. They have an Harley Ultra Classic. The brand is T Bag, but it's designed for the Ultra Classic. This isn't the exact picture, but close. It's got a few zipper pouches and water bottle pockets. Our luggage rack for the Venture is smaller. I have looked at JP Cycle but I'm not seeing anything that would fit our rack. Does anyone have a website and picture of one that fits the Venture. We're leaving on vacation in 10 days, and I'd really like to have one by then, that I can order. I don't care what brand it is, but hopefully I can keep the cost reasonable. Thanks for any help!! Deb

This guy must have a great bike to have a VR from 1998. Maybe it's worth so much because it has MKI luggage. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=10682044&cat=144&lpid= Dave

Well this is my first try at posting some pictures, I think I have uploaded the pictures and if I have you will see that I have a Uni-go single wheel trailer, works well and I have pulled it about 3K to date. We use to have just the one Border Terrier (Connor) and he rode on the back in a box or in the box on the luggage rack if Mary Ann was along. This worked great and drew a lot of looks and picture taking. We we got another Border Terrier (Piper) and the box was just to small and the luggage rack shouldn't have 40 lbs on it . Need, the mother of invention, Put a removable floor in the Uni-go and made the metal cage, added a little canvas work and there you have it. The dogs love it and now they both can go. Just got back from 6 weeks in Florida and they probably rode over a thousand miles in it, Just say "Motorcycle" and they jump in

Hello all! I'm Steve. I have a 1997 Tour Deluxe and I need a sissy bar and luggage rack for it. Anybody have one for sale? To be honest, the bike already has a sissy bar, but it may be custom made because I havent been able to identify the brand and it seems like all the luggage racks are brand specific! I'm gonna link a pic of the sissy bar I currently have on the bike, if anyone can help that would be fantastic! Thanks http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm6/beendad/backrest.jpghttp://http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm6/beendad/backrest.jpg[/img]

Looking for options use on the luggage rack on the trunk for long trips. (Yes, there was a thread about 4 years ago)... I have seen the Cordura Bag by Yamaha made for the trunk, but I can't tell if it is toploaded or side loaded (like a suitcase). Also does anyone have any pictures of their bike LOADED DOWN for trip? Thanks.

I'm giving away the luggage off my 83. Bags are in good shape, trunk has usual cracks but repairable. The side covers are also available, but have the tabs missing. I would like it to go to one place (the luggage) but not required. These would be good if you want to do a repaint. Pay for shipping and they are yours.

Anyone know where I can get the rubber grommets for the luggage rack on the travel trunk I have looked at alot of bike part stores and can't find them. Tom
