The guy that wrote the RSTD manual, or translated it from the Japanese, or whoever put those shift points in the book. Ok. I admit it. I'm a fairly anal guy. I do read the manual, follow the reccomendations, etc, etc. I used to ride a V-Star 950 cruiser, nimble and quick, but when I rode with the local yamaha association last year the Ventures and RSTDs would make me work to keep up. This year I traded up, carefully rode the beast home, read the owners manual carefully, and started riding, using the reccomended shift points. Felt like I was driving a truck. Weak acceleration, sounds like it's working hard just to get going. WTF? The guys must have modified the engine the get the acceleration I was seeing last year? Then I found this forum. Read all the threads about shift points I could find. I'm still in break-in. 600 km and climbing rapidly. I haven't cranked it as hard as some suggest, for that reason, but, oh my, can this thing fly. Still not as nimble as my last bike, but pull? Loving it! Loving it! Loving it!

Hi everyone, Just want to take a moment to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and concerns while undergoing my 2 surgeries and now as I begin my recovery at home. No words could express how much I appreciate your friendships that we've acquired over the years through Venturerider.org. I know it's going to be a long painful recovery, but knowing I have so much loving support and continuing prayers from the venturerider family members, it'll keep me going. Once again, thanks to all. Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon. Charlene

For those of you that were at Marcarl's Venture In, on Saturday, May 23/09, here's an update on Mary's condition after her fall with my bike. There is no bruising, but there is some swelling. She is feeling much better, thanks to Marca's "Tender Loving Care". She is only taking regular Advil for the pain, and is putting on ice packs. She is moving around unaided on her own. She had a good sleep last night and is now resting comfortable on the couch watching TV. Thank goodness it is only a pulled hamstring on her right leg, it could've been worse. A very special thank you to Marca and Carl, Sonny, Wayne, Robin, and everyone else that were there to help yesterday with her mishap. It just goes to show you what a great, big, loving, caring "FAMILY" that Venturerider.org members really are. From Mary and I, a great big "THANK YOU" to all. Jopie...

Hi All, I used to have a 1983 Venture, went a LOT of place on her, she had a good soul. Next bought a 2001 Kawasaki Voyager, a nice enough bike, but didn't care much for the handling, powerband , etc. Anyway, I just bought a 2006 venture about a month ago. Loving it so far, except for "the whine". Sometimes it REALLY annoys me, other times I don't even notice. Took a 400 mile ride to Vermont and back last Saturday, was LOVING the bike. Anyway, does anyone have any advice about installing Sirius Radio on the Venture? Any recommendations on engine oil? I used castrol synthetic in my Voyager, seemed to work well. Any recommendations on Highway pegs or boards? Look Forward To Hearing Back, Thank You Marty
