Heading down to New Iberia, Louisiana on March 28th, job interview and flying back home on the 29th. Hopefully Cargill likes what they see, make a decent offer.....and we'll look at relocating way doooooown south......we'll see how it works out, there is a lot of unanswered questions and variables right now. Anyone have any insights into the New Iberia area? Good area? Quality of life in that area? gunk:shock3:

We took Bradt, NaughT and their daughter Brooke on a Louisiana swamp tour at Honey Island Swamp while they were here and to New Orleans the next day. Here are some pics of the swamp tour, didn't take my camera to NO. http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m232/kebranton/Swamp%20tour%204th%20july2011/

Five years ago I sold my 2000 Millennium Venture - went to a VTX 1800 and then to an Ultra Classic. Last week I found another Millennium Venture and it only had 13,000 miles. I got it for 6 grand! I'm going to pick it up in Louisiana on our way home from Texas in two weeks. I had planned to ride it home but it is snowing today in Iowa so to be safe I will get a trailer. It is good to be back!

hi folks back at the '09 international rally i meet two new vr riders from baton rouge,la. deeta & joe. i told them about a ride i had been thinking of, to the tobasco plant in new iberia, louisiana, where the hot sauce is made. it is about a 4-5 hr trip from houston. i have only been there by tugboat to pick up salt for barges for the winter road use. i thought this would be a great way to have a m&e with our fellow v/r riders from the great state of louisiana. i would plan on this around the 26'th of september '09. i'll put this out there for everyone's thoughts. on their web site i saw were you can buy a GALLON JUG of tobasco sauce, just found out they now offer a tabasco brand soy sauce, hot da--. www.tabasco.com. best reguards don c.

What a joy to wake up and see snow pouring down and actually sticking to the ground this morning. We had several inches across southern Louisiana and Mississippi. School was called off because people don't know how to drive in it here. A friend was driving to Florida today and had to turn back because the interstate was closed down about 40 miles from here due to the snow and then an ice storm. I have lived in Louisiana all of my life (55 this month) except 3 years in the army and probably have not seen snow here 10 times. It did snow a lot the year I was sweating in Viet Nam. My wife made me a snowman and froze it in the freezer until I got home. It was ice then. Glad it doesn't happen often but it is fun once in a while. About half of it has melted now. It is supposed to be back in the 70's by Sunday. What weather we have here. Lyle

As some of you know, next summer Im planning on a long trip BUT as im researching some state laws about handlebar height, pipes ect...it turns out that my bars are illegal in AL,AK,DE,GA,IN,LA,MD,MI,MO,NE,OH, RI,TX,UT,VT & WV...THATS 16 STATES. What sux is that Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Indiana,Missouri and Texas were on my path. My pipes are illegal in AZ,CA,CT,DE,FL,ID,IL,KY,MD,MA,MI,MN,MS,MT,MS,NV,NH.NY,ND,OH,OK,OR,PA,RI AND WA...THATS 24 STATES! My trip will take me into Florida,Illinois, Kentuky,Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma. I REALLY dont wanna change my bike all around and have to buy new bars and risers and exhaust...my question is- how vigorously do these states enforce these laws.
