Valerie and I spent the weekend riding the Cherohala Skyway and Deal's Gap and while there we stayed in Tellico Plains at the Lodge at Tellico. What a treat! We heard of the place just before we left to go and I posted a note here asking about it. So cancelled our hotel in Marysville and booked with the Lodge. We arrived late Friday afternoon and received a friendly greeting from Walt, the proprietor as he was taking BBQ from the smoker, more about that later. We checked in and he showed us to the garage to park the bike and then pointed us to our building. The lodge is made up of 4 large cabins with each one divided into quarters. Each room is very large and comfortable with a king bed, sleep sofa and bathroom. Some also have a soaking tub and fireplace. The rooms also have wifi and Direct TV. The place was spotless. The basement of one of the cabins is the bike garage. Those that opt for the garage are given an electronic key to the door to come and go as needed. In another basement there is a game room with a pool table, ping pong, foosball and air hockey. After resting a bit we walked back to the office/restaurant for dinner where we had a very tasty meal of pulled pork and fried catfish. The meal was a great value and it was just a few yards from our room so we didn't have to get back on the bike. http://www.lodgeattellico.com/default.htm Prior to starting on our ride Saturday we stopped at the Tellico Grains Bakery for breakfast. Afterward, we rode across the Cherohala and Deal's Gap twice each. A great day of riding although it was a bit cool, cold on the Cherohala which was at 37 degrees each time we went across. I've posted a few photos at www.traynorphoto.com/tellico Dennis

Has anyone stayed at the Lodge at Tellico near the Cherohala Skyway? We're planning to be there this weekend (Fri & Sat nights). They seem to get good reviews online and was just wondering if anyone has first hand experience staying there. http://www.lodgeattellico.com/ Thanks, Dennis

For the Cody bunch, it seems we dodged a bullet. Local weather channel announced that there was 15" of snow in Red Lodge Montana yesterday (10/06/09). Furthermore, the same weather service noted that the Mt. Rushmore monument (official visitor center, I suppose) was closed due to snow.

Went on a beautiful ride on Saturday (4/25/09) to Graves Mountain Lodge, near Syria, Virginia. Attached are a couple of pictures. There were five in our group -- three oilhead BMW twins, a Concours 14, and my Venture. Saturday lunch is served family style, all you can eat, for $10.75. Good, old-fashioned comfort food. Check them out at http://gravesmountain.com/ . Following the meal, we went downstairs and sat on rocking chairs overlooking the valley. It was hard to get off the rockers and ride home! http://i570.photobucket.com/albums/ss146/gssuzukiguy/GravesMtApril2529.jpg?t=1240869965 http://i570.photobucket.com/albums/ss146/gssuzukiguy/GravesMtApril2525.jpg?t=1240870022

Diane and I are planning on riding all of the Skyway & Blue Ridge Parkway this summer. I know a lot of you have done this. We are planing on staying the first night in Front Royal in Virgina. Has any one stayed in that area before? I see there is a Super 8 any others? The next stop would be Peaks of Otter It's about 192 miles, I'm not sure if we can cover 192 miles of Skyway & Blue Ridge Parkway in one day. Has any one done this before? How many miles can one cover in one day on the Ridge? Has anyone stayed at the Peaks of Otter Lodge or the Doughton Lodge or the Mt. Pisgah Lodge? Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thank you

I would like to infom anyone who is a member of a moose lodge and didnt know (like myself) that they have an organization within the moose called "Riders of the Moose ". After much research our lodge has decided to start a chapter of our own. It is an easy way to start a riding club with existing friends and to make new ones. They also do a pile of charity work for local organizations and Moose heart wich is a orphanage per say located in ill.You should check out the websites. google them "riders of the moose" and "mooseheart". We are actually planning to attend their blessing of the bikes at the end of may .

Eileen is a great photographer but she uses a 35mm camera and we haven't got the film developed yet. Here are a few pics that our son Dylan took with his little digital camera though. As you can see, Eileen and I found the fireplace at the lodge to be a great place to hang out. The first picture is of Round Lake shot through the screened window of our cabin.
