Loctite Threadlockers and many plastics lead to very sad owners. With ABS plastics it slowly disintegrates the plastic which begins to crack, then crumble. Never EVER apply Loctite directly to plastic, and I strongly recommend you NEVER use it on any fastener that even passes through plastic and into a metal part. It is just not worth the potential grief. We report this information in various threads here every year, but inevitably we see sad stories from some people who just do not get the message. Goose

Have the motor out of the scooter do do a few enhancements on it and had a problem last night. I was able to get 15 of the 16 head studs out of the block, and literally the last one I went to do would not budge with a double nut setup. Put Red Loctite on nuts and let it cure over night, and still wasn't budging. A little more torque with a pipe wrench and it let go. I was getting concerned. Never used Loctite to disassemble something before. Gary

Well, I found out today that blue Loctite eats paint, and eats plastic. I loctited the bolts on my windshield, to keep them from coming loose. I didn't think I used very much. I put everything back together, and came inside for a few hours. I just went outside, and see the damage is done. It runs all of the way down my lower. If I try to wipe it off, it just takes the paint off. The clear deflector is etched now, and will have to be replaced. I will probably wait until winter, and then have the lowers painted, and paint the deflectors to match. It just pi$$es me off, is all. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Damage001.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/Damage002.jpg

HELP!!!!! I don't know why they made these little screws that hold the side storage "bags" to the mounts SO TIGHT!!! Here's my problem: I wanted to remove the bags for maint. however, in the process I stripped the heads, the cavity where the tool goes in to loosen them up. Now I can't get them off. HELP!!!!! I bought the bike used and at some point before I bought it, the previous owner had the dealer put on new tires. So, I assume the mechanic either tightened the screws too much or put that blue Loctite on them.
