decided to get a lift for my 2000RSV. thought i would try the new tractor supply and buy the big red 1500lb lift for 119.00. lift seemed ok but noticed the welds on the locking mech were bad and was bent too. I had them order a new one and it came back just as bad. needless to say i returned it and went to sears to look at the craftsman 1500 for the same price. I had them open the box so i could compare before i took it home. The craftsman lift seemed far superior in most ways--foot pedal release, spring loaded locking mech, attacheable T-handle to move were a couple. **best news it was on sale for 99.00. guess now it is time to get a lift adapter or takle making one myslef.

I was sitting on the bike for a minute after getting to work this morning when I discovered that you can use the ignition lock to lock the forks when turned to the right. Why? They sit at such an upright angle when locked to the left that I couldn't imagine locking to the right and walking away from it. I just can't reason why Yammi would go to the effort of drilling an extra hole.

Well we finally got the 'real' bracket back from the water jet cutter. with a few little tweaks we installed it on my bike. it works just as i had hoped, easy on and easy off. as we were doing the final install, my friend came up with (another) brilliant idea - one of the items which drives up the cost of this unit is the 'locking mechanisms. he figured we could replace those mechanisms with spacers (would be welded to existing bracket) and provide knurled thumb screws which connects directly to the chromed side fender mount, using the hole already in that piece (it is currently blocked off by a chrome cap). of course this would do away with the security of locking the tour pak to the bike. or the other option would be to use one locking mechanism and one knurled knob. my bracket will be painted today and installed tomorrow, i'll post some finished pics. here are a few shots of our final unpainted product. http://i39.tinypic.com/2dueeci.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/eqv9mv.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/2e36anl.jpg

This site has the most knowledgible people (How's this for suckin up), I'm hopin someone can help my brother. He has a 2003 V-Max. I rode it this past weekend and boy does it have front end wobble. I attempted to tighten the nut at the trippletree and discovered a locking shim down through the two big nuts. Am I going to have to remove the Handle bars and the top of the tree, to tighten up the front end??? This shim is a small square that fits in the slots of the two big nuts, and sits in there up and down, locking them together. Help! Saddle_Bag
