Seems a lot of people seem to like the EBC FA179HH front and FA123 rear but 2 sites said HH did not go with our bike and recommended the FA179V semi sintered for our bike has anybody went with these still would probably go organic rear to help soften the lock up. Any input would be appreciated quite confused right now. Also spark plug $3 standard or $10 iridium have to pull the tank to install passing lamps so want all the parts to be ready for spring.

When you've stopped at a restaurant or a gas stop/pee break .... in other words, you've left your bike unattended to go inside a building for a period of time ... 10 min - 2 hours or so.... do you lock your helmet on the helmet lock, do you store it inside the trunk, do you take it in with you, do you leave it on the seat or hanging from the mirror or something?

Went to use one of the helmet locks on my RSV and discovered that the "guts" of the lock are gone. I can see a small spring at the back of the opening and the lock and "hook" are still there but the rest is gone. Is it possible to get just that part or do I have to search out a whole new lock? And if I get a new lock, is it possible to change over the old lock cylinder so that I don't wind up with a second key? Thanks, Andy

Sooo New guy here trying to remove the starter clutch so i can send to Dano. I got the covers off no problem. How do you lock up the rotor to get the bolt out and do you have to take the gear loose before you pull the rotor? Thanks Kevin:confused24:

I'm still trying to convince my wife to ride to Vegas and back. I've sent my seat to Butler for the customization, and to lower my seat so I'm flat footed with the floorboards and to give her a little more height forward view. Planning on getting her an extra boost in the back seat also for more forward view. Right now she says her eyes are planted right in the center of the back of my helmet and she is always turning her head way left or way right. Getting neck strain in just a ride less than 60 minutes. Maybe a few books on CD. Stopping at upgraded overnight stays. A visit to our granddaughter both down and back. Also reshape the inners of her helmet to relieve stress points. Oh ya, having my machinist Goldwing buddy mill a set of passenger arm rests. Maybe I can find a coffee holder with Starbucks imprinted on it. A luggage rack for her suit case. Lastly a spending budget. There is just one more thing. If I could just figure out a way to gently lock her helmet in place with some flexibility. She has recalled back in our youthful days on my 80 Goldwing that she sometimes would like to take a nap. I think that would do the trick. So I'm engaging the group for some creative solutions for the helmet lock. Humorous solutions like getting a new wife isn't going to work. I love what I have and am afraid what I'd get on a trade in. I don't think I could out live the break in period. So put on your creative thinking hats.

Does anyone know where I can find a T bar handle to put on the trunk of my trike? I've seen them on others, but can't remember who had them or where I can purchase one or two. I want to change out the lock on the trunk and would like to install a T Bar handle instead of just a lock. Any help would be appreciated! thanks Don

I recently picked up a 98 Royal Star Tour Classic and I'm unable to work the seat lock. I have an ignition key and a key that releases the fuel cap. Which key is used to release the seat lock? Neither key seem to go in very far. I sprayed a small amount of PB Blaster into the lock, but still no luck. Thank you, ~Jason

Coming home from MD weekend the left side of the trunk latch wouldn't open when we stopped to eat. I was able to force it open but then it wouldn't latch. When we arrived home the right latch wouldn't open. Again I had to force it. When I pulled the latch assembly off the trunk I found that the lock mechanism is held in by 2 screws, one was loose. Turns out there is a spring on each side that is continually trying to lock the latch, the lock cylinder pulls a mechanism against the springs to unlock. With the loose screw the pieces misalign causing the trunk to be locked even with the lock cylinder in the unlock position. Fortunately I was able to reassemble it and it now works fine. Just a tip that you might want to check those screws are snug. Apparently they can work loose in 20 years.....

I had the pleasure to work on Jayceesfolly's 89'VR over the winter and we came up with an unusual but effective way to add some additional light to the rear of his bike. The bike came to my "little shop by the creek" missing the right side helmet lock. Jim expressed an interest in getting a lot more light during braking and was not nearly as interested in replacing the helmet lock. I removed the left side helmet lock, and fabbed up a bracket that was mounted on the two "tabs" that held the helmet locks. As you can see in the pics, I used a light bar that has found a home on MANY Second Gen. Motorcycles, as a matter of fact, this particular light bar was slated to be installed on a Second Gen. later this month. I have since had to order another one for the owner. Both Jim and I were pleased at the results, and the light output from this light bar far surpasses the original tail light. So if you can live without your helmet locks, this is an excellent way to add a considerable amount of light for BOTH running lights and brake lights on the rear of a First Gen. PLUS, if you did your shopping for an LED light bar at Maint. Day this year, (with all the Second Gen. bikes that attend) you could add this light bat to your First Gen. for only a few dollars! Enjoy the pics. If you have questions, feel free to PM me, Earl

Where would I go to price tires for an 09 HD Ultra Classic? I know the sizes but I don't find them at SW Moto. Does HD have a lock on these tires? 130/80B17 65H (front) 180/65B16 81H (rear) He prefers WW but either would do.

Have a new to me 97 and don't have the cables to lock my helmet under the seat (not sure I like that option anyway). What has anyone else done as a useful option that they are pleased with? I as looking at the Kuryakyn Universal Helmet Lock, but have two concerns; 1) Is it wide enough to mount on the stick sissy bar? 2) Does it rattle? I've seen a few reviews saying so, but they seem to be in the minority; the rattle would be a deal breaker. Thanks!

I have bought an 05 Kawasaki Concourse and want to put a throttle lock on it because it doesn't have cruise control like my 89 RSV. What is the best to buy?

The lock on my aftermarket trunk broke again (2nd time) and after paying 35 bucks for the replacement I refuse to buy another POS. Does anybody have a trunk thats toast but the locks still good with key they care to sell? I'm hoping I can improvise it to cover the bolt lock hole and connect with lower section. Any help would be appreciated. God Bless Mike

Hi guys. When I got my bike last year it had brand new front rotors on it and the brakes were not very good. I asked and was told it would take a few hundred miles for the pads to seat nicely. I put on a couple thousand and am still really disappointed with the front brakes. The back will lock up easily and does too often because I think I am over-compensating for the fronts. The odd thing is I've read that some people find the fronts very touchy. So, what is your experience?

I need thoughts "pro or amatuer" on a gps mount. I am thinking of the N-B238U standard mount on the plastic cowl, forward and to the left of the gas cap. a 3.5" arm N-B201U to get the unit up closer to the speedo and cass. player. I have the garmin nuvi 255w and i'm thinking this will help keep it out of the wind and weather. the steering should go lock to lock without it beeing in the way, i think. any thoughts please chime in, thanks. tired of getting lost......

I lost one of the Helmet Locks off of my 2003 Venture. Bought a new one from Yamaha and took it to a locksmith to get it re-keyed to match my other locks. It could not be done. Yamaha has replaced the old lock with one that has an opposite key shape. The old key will not even fit into the new lock. Does anyone have an older lock that they want to get rid of or do you know where I can find old stock?

I wanted a spare key for travels on my '06 RSMV. A friend said that ACE Hardware had the blanks. I had them cut two keys and both were unable to work the ignition switch. They would operate the trunk and the saddle bags, and turn the ignition from Lock to Off and Off to Lock but would not turn the ignition from Off to On. I went to the dealer who said I might not really want an extra key. The blanks were $46 from Yamaha. I don't remember the Owner's Manual saying anything about a chip in the key, but that much for a key doesn't make sense otherwise. Anyone have the word? Just curious. Mel

Some time ago I read about someone changing the locking mechanism on their Piggybacker XL but can't seem to find the post. The cylinder on mine broke in half and fell out during vacation this year and I must come up with a replacement. The lock is probably the weakest feature of the trailer and I had planned to eventually replace it. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks! Don
