I recently just finished my redo of my 1987 Venture Royale and took my first road trip on it to St.Mary's Ga from Atlanta and back I was pleased with the overall look and performance but was somewhat dissappointed in the original Audio radio/CB. intercome hair lip audio sound. I am contemplating ripping the orginal out and replacing it with some current technology. Does anyone have some advice on components and installation?

If you happen to notice a wobble in a high speed turn, one you lay into, I found a long time ago that running too many miles in a straight line [along with a little throttle up and braking] will square off your tire leaving a lip that you wobble over in a turn, so your constantly fitting this square edge in a corner. just a thought

OK, just curious here, I changed the coolant a few weeks ago and have had a slight drip out of the plug under what I am assuming is the water pump (what I used to drain the coolant). I went into the local shop and ordered the gasket for it (part 13 on the attached diagram). This is a metal part with a lip on one side. Is that the right part and if so, which was does the lip go. I was expecting a rubber gasket or something to hold the fluid in! http://images.powersportsnetwork.com/fiche/images/YAMAHA/1989/Motorcycles/327_waterpump.gif

Just a question. Being as I am from NC we have been undedr constant highway road construction for as long as I can remember. The wife and I were riding a few days back and a tractor trailer was moving into our lane with us beside it. Now as the next lane over was clear it would usually be no prob, but the road is under renovation and they had just repaved that lane. This leaves a 2-4 inch lip to get over and at 65 mph we only felt comfortable with hard braking instead of trying to cross this hump/lip while running in the same direction as the lip. I've had cars have a hard time with this type of uneven type of road constuction. Guess my question is, how do you folks handle getting over in this type of situation? Is it safe to go over these types of lips/humps at hyway speed? any input is appreciated. David

Still wrenchin' on the '91
Condor posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Pulled the covers off the '91 to get to the #4 carb and it's non--reactive diaphragm assembly to see why it's not working. Sad to say I pulled out what looked to be a brand new diaphragm, and whoever installed the thing didn't make sure the lip bead was seated in the groove properly and crushed the bead when they screwed down the cover, and then left it that way. It's been sitting in there for lord knows how long and the lip has been deformed to the point where it will no longer seal. I did pull out a used one that had a half dozen micro holes in it, gave it a shot of Plasti--Dip, and got the slide to start working, but not good enough to match the movement of the other 3. So, I trying to get this bike preped for Cody in two weeks, and I need one good assembly with no holes....fast. Anyone have a good used spare I could buy and they could priority mail it to me?? -
Just a quick question - do 1st gen trunks have a seal (?rubber?) around the "lip" of either the upper or lower part of the trunk?? I am not a "fair weather rider" therefore I do ride in the rain.......that being said water has found its way into my trunk and I'm having trouble trying to figure out where it's coming from. I can't see any obvious cracks or holes and it appears that the design of the lip around the trunk and lid may not require one but then again I don't know if I'm missing something or not. advise, comments, hints and suggestions all welcome Thanks Ed

I'm so bummed... My Federal tire exploded while seating the bead. had beads heavily lubed with ruglyde tire lube. Exploded around 100 PSI. Scared about 10 years off my life... but nothing hurt but my pride and my wallet. Guess I'll put the old tire back on until I find another tire. Has anybody tried grinding the huge lip on the wheel off? It would certailnly make beading these up easier... safer too.
