Got back Sunday evening from a long weekend in Wellsboro, PA with my riding group, using my new (to me) 2000 RSV. I only managed to get the bike on Thursday afternoon and we were leaving Friday morning, so I didn't have much time to get acquainted, as it were. I was impressed by the looks and finish, especially in that gorgeous red paint with the extra chrome accents the previous owner had added. First impressions? The Royale has better weather protection but the RSV has a much more solid feeling front end. The fork may be flexing but I don't feel it whereas there was a looser feel to the Royale fork even with the Progressive springs. The RSV is heavier, but thanks to a lower cg, it feels lighter at parking lot speeds and while maneuvering around using leg power (Important to us 98 pound weaklings, you know!). The fork on the RSV does , of course, have a tendency to want to "flop" at low speeds due to the weight of the fairing but I'm getting used to that. I did appreciate the auxiliary plug in the tape deck so that we could use our MP3 player. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the trip and found the RSV to be quite comfortable, so it looks like we get to do more touring. Once I've got the Royale put back together, it will be going up for sale. It's a nice bike, but after sampling both, I definitely prefer the RSV (Oh God, here come the howls of outrage from the first gen camp!). One thing I did miss was the lack of bag liners for the RSV (The Royale didn't have any either.). While we did get everything packed away, getting it all into the motel room was a bit annoying. I found three companies advertising liners for the RSV...Star Yamaha Accessories ($79.99 for three pieces), Bestem USA ($65.95 for three pieces) and TLC Products ($89.99 for three pieces). I checked out J.C. Whitney and noted a review mentioning a problem with the suggested bag liners being a bit short in height (Hopnel liners) which left an empty space at the top of the saddlebags ($40.00 for 2 saddlebag liners and $34.99 for a Harley Tour Pak trunk liner (As suggested by someone on this site)). Has anyone had experience with any of these liners? I really would like to use something other than the assortment of bags we used this time. Anything that makes life easier for my honey means more touring time! Andy

Just wondering what everyone uses, if anything when you're going on a trip. Do you use the economy liners made by Glad or Hefty, whatever you might have available (gym bags, duffles, etc) that fits in the saddle bags or have you gone out and purchased the Yamaha liners that are suppose to go in there? Just kind of wondering what everyones thought were on the subject. What you've tried, what works, what doesn't.

Hello to all, Am looking for the availability of saddlebag and trunk liners for my friend's 2007 Royal Star Venture. I saw posts (and sites) for TLC and Yamaha, then saw posts from the guy called Beer30, and want to see what he has available at this time, maybe some pictures of them, etc. I was not able to find a site for him, so I became a member so I could post (I ride an 85 BMW K100RT). If Beer30 reads this (and is still making liners) please let me know how I can contact you... Speaking of which: it's beer o'clock right now! Keep the shiny side up! John

Just in case anyone is looking for some, I just put a set of Star Bag Liners for 99-2010 RSV (and I presume 05-09 RSTD) in the classifieds. I have only used them a few times and there are no rips, tears, marks, etc - zippers work flawlessly. I am selling these because I have recently picked up a set of Beer30 liners (thanks Gene!) and no longer need these. $50 - to your door via USPS in the Lower 48. I will consider shipping to Alaska, Hawaii or Canada however I will need to look into the additional cost to do so. I will also deliver to anyone in the Vancouver area (or any one coming to the Kruisin the Kootenays), however, you'll need to let me know you want them by this coming Wednesday 30/June/2010. I'll certainly consider other offers so if you have any questions or think my asking price is too steep, just let me know. FYI, I just completed a small run of Saddle Bag and trunk Liners. I will have 6 sets of 2nd Gen and 1 set of 1st Gen MKI available. I had made 3 sets of the 1st Gen MKI , but 2 have already been spoken for by 2 other VR members. All Liners are Black and made of 1000 Denier Cordura Nylon (Mil Spec)with Heavy Dury #10 zippers, sewn together with 135/138 Bonded nylon threads and Double stitched binding tape on interior edges. I did not have time to complete liners for the 1st Gen MKII due to pattern complications........(I forgot something:think:). The cost is $80.00 per set and will be deliver to MD. Any liners left over will return back to the shop and can be ordered after the 30th when BEER24/7 and return back from our vacation. BEER30

Does anyone have any experience with these Saddlebag Liners? They looks pretty nice and the price is great. I wanted to get some opinions before I spent my birthday money on them. They offer free embroidery also, but you can't return them after having them personalized. Thanks for the input in advance! http://www.tlcproducts.com/servlet/Detail?no=24 http://www.tlcproducts.com/catalog/ed_1_sbl_24_1.JPG http://www.tlcproducts.com/catalog/rst.jpg Ben

I just listed a very nice set of Venture saddlebag liners by Bestem in the 2nd Generation secion of the Classifieds. Since I traded my 2006 Venture, I don't need these anymore. They are really handy and in like new condition. I paid $39.95 plus $10.00 shipping when I bought them. Will take $35.00 which includes shipping. PayPal account is listed as pdr1254. Thanks!

I just received, a couple days ago my purchase from New Enough. I bought the Venture Air Mesh pants and Intake Air Series 2 Jacket. I am very pleased with New Enough's prices and shipping. Ordered it on Friday morning, got it on Tuesday. Also very pleased with my selection. Both jacket and pants have windproof/waterproof layer and a quilted insulated liner, as well as multiple sections of Armor and padding. The liners can be utilized together or seperately in any configuration or they can we worn without any liners. Its really working well for me as I can wear the liners when I leave at 3:30am for work, 55 degrees and then ride home with just the mesh when its reached 80+. If I had any complaint I guess it would be that the items do not store very compactly. I have to take the jacket in because it won't compress down small enough to fit in the bags or trunk along with the other things I carry. This wasn't a problem with my leathers. It seems to be the Armor that is causing the issue. So here is my question: Does the Armor really add significant protection or could you take it out? Thanks for the info/opinions in advance. Jay

Good news, it will be almost 50 in Northern IL later today! Bad news, it was only 17 on my ride in this morning! Worse news, I'm at work, doh! Well, I did volunteer.... I can't wait for my heated glove liners to arrive. Happy Thanks giving to all. file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/I273136/Desktop/8_5_31.giffile:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/I273136/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/I273136/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg

I've been PM'd almost to death here lately in regards to Saddle Bag liners . Because of my heavy schedule , I have not been able to get to make any here lately . Well the Boss said "OK" to make them here at work . I have the patterns for the 2nd Gens and they will work for the late model 1st Gens . I also have the pattern for the earlier 1st Gens , but yet made any yet other than for a few here . So here's the deal . All 3 bags (2/saddle bag liners and 1/ trunk bag liner) for &75.00 per set . Made either from 1000 denier cordura or 1050 Ballistic nylon (black only). I have other colors , but they are more military patterns . You can call the shop here to place your order @ 910-325-1000 (High Speed Gear Inc.) M-T , 8:00-6:00 , Friday ,8:00-4:30 . I'm going to get several sets made up ASAP and will continue to make them as they are ordered . We have a small break in work and estimate a 2 week slow down in other production (end of physical year government spending), so it would be best to place your order as soon as possible , because as soon as this slow break ends , no telling when I will be able to get back to these liners . BEER30 P.S. I have patterns for the Vulcan Nomad as well .

Hey guys (and Gals if applicable), I am going to pick up my new to me '99 RSV in a couple of weeks. I am buying it from a friend that let me use it one summer when he was busy. The question I have is this: I have a set each of the saddlebag liners from my Ultra Classic AND from my old 1500 Goldwing. Does anybody know if either of these bags will work acceptably in the RSV bags? Thanks very much – I enjoy the site and appreciate the willingness of others to share the wealth of their knowledge.
