I am going to share a story with you about something that happened to me last week. That I only found out today what happened. That still scares the hell out of me. Last week I was out on the ocean fishing when I happened to look north and saw a storm heading my way. I headed toward Barneget Lighthouse inlet as fast as I could so I would be at least in the bay. Well unfortunately the storm caught up to me. I got to the bay and was still quite a way from home when out of nowhere a bolt of lightning went across the sky and the clap of thunder immediately followed. This scared me. Then two seconds later another bolt of lightning with the loudest noise I have heard in all my life. It sounded like it hit something directly behind me. This now terrified me which I thought I was literally going to sh** my pants. I didn't know what to do. I had to get off the bay NOW. I was almost going to head to land and just beach the boat till the storm passed. Well I decided to get the hell home ASAP full throttle toward home. I made it to my lagoon and jumped out of that boat the fastest I have ever did it. I MADE IT. HOME. YAY Well now we go ahead a few days. I was doing some pre-checks on the boat as I was going fishing again the next morning. Well the boat started like it always did but for some reason my GPS, Fish finder and gauges were not working. So I checked my wires and fuses but couldn't find anything wrong. I talked to my mechanic and he gave me a few things to check. I went home and started to inspect the boat again when lo and behold I found my problem. That last bolt of lightning HIT MY ANTENNA just above my head. Thank you God for watching over me. I still get the willies thinking about it let alone looking at the pictures. Check them out. WOW.

Ok, for all you computer nerds out there, here's a question that I am trying to figure out. Is there a way to tell whether the problem is my motherboard or if it's the processor. Several months ago lightning ran in on my computer and killed it. I think it was just static electricity and not a direct hit with lightning. There was a pop and it died but this was while the computer was turned off and unplugged. Anyway, I took it to a place for insurance estimate and they told me it was either the motherboard or the processor. Insurance paid off, but I never had it fixed. Now I've decided to try to fix it myself. I did mange to salvage my harddrive to another computer so all data was saved. I'd just like to tinker with this one. So, ya'll get your thinking caps on and see what you can come up with.

Watch out when the weather gets bad. I know I have been less than brilliant and rode through some VERY BAD Lightning Storms before. I will be pulling over and letting the weather pass from now on. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517985,00.html Motorcyclist Killed by Lightning While Riding Back From Charity Event Sunday, April 26, 2009 LAWRENCE, Kan. — A 45-year-old Lawrence man was killed when he was hit by lightning as he was riding his motorcycle as storms swept through northeast Kansas. Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig says the man was with six other motorcyclists who are members of the Bikers Against Child Abuse group. He was hit by lightning about 5 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 24 between Perry and Granville. A man riding next to the victim was treated and released at a Topeka hospital. The other five members of the group were not injured. Herrig says the motorcyclists were returning home after visiting some children they had helped in the past in their work against child abuse. He calls the man's death a "tragic, sad thing."

And I got soaked. Almost home, tried to detour around the storm, but it exploded. On the south edge, heading south, I couldn't outrun it. Here's the route I planned: http://tinyurl.com/6bbwou I abandoned the route at Jay, and headed south to Locust Grove to miss the storm. As soon as I turned south, the heavens opened up. Lightning, rain, wind... I stopped to pitch all my pocket contents in the trunk and don my jacket. I resumed until I reached Locust Grove, then stopped for an early supper until the storm passed. After supper, I headed west until I saw more lightning ahead, then turned north at Inola, to get back to my original route. As I danced between raindrops on the final leg, I saw downed power lines. If I do this ride again, who's in?
