Just a thought- Has anyone considered creating a letter to Yamaha from this group as a whole, signed by any of our members that want to, that would express our collective admiration about our ventures as well as our frustrations with recurring issues (i.e. the whine), the lack of updates and give our suggestions regarding new models? The idealistic part of me would like to think that if we were able to send this (ultimately as a hard copy as well as electronically) to one of the upper Yamaha corporate officers that it may at least peak their interest. Even though the cynic in me says "what's the point", I've always tried to live by the motto that if you don't try to improve things you don't have the right to complain. I'm a fairly new venture owner, and maybe not intimately familiar with all of the venture issues, but I would be happy to help in creating such a letter with help from the group if the interest was there.

Curious about this letter that was received for my stepson about his layoff and would like to know if anyone who is employed at FMC would know the answer. He received a letter stating that since he is considered a part time and not yet fully hired on as full time but still gets the benifits and now is laid off and drawing unemployment from FMC the letter has offered him a position in either Chiago or Kentucky and has to fill out this form and send it back certified. The question is if he doesn't fill out this form and don't send it in will he lose his unemployment and possiably his chance for rehire? Does anyone from FMC know? Thanks Joe

This is very nice. Merry Christmas To All, Again ............ The "W" in Christmas Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peaceful experience. I had cut back on nonessential obligations - extensive card writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending. Yet still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the precious family moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas. My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting season for a six year old. For weeks, he'd been memorizing songs for his school's "Winter Pageant." I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd be working the night of the production. Unwilling to miss his shining moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there'd be a dress rehearsal the morning of the presentation. All parents unable to attend that evening were welcome to come then. Fortunately, Nicholas seemed happy with the compromise. So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in ten minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the room, I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats. As I waited, the students were led into the room. Each class, accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then, each group, one by one, rose to perform their song. Because the public school system had long stopped referring to the holiday as "Christmas," I didn't expect anything other than fun, commercial entertainment songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer. So, when my son's class rose to sing, "Christmas Love," I was slightly taken aback by its bold title. Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps upon their heads. Those in the front row- center stage - held up large letters, one by one, to spell out the title of the song. As the class would sing "C is for Christmas," a child would hold up the letter C. Then, "H is for Happy," and on and on, until each child holding up his portion had presented the complete message, "Christmas Love." The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her; a small, quiet, girl in the front row holding the letter "M" upside down - totally unaware her letter "M" appeared as a "W". The audience of 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her "W". Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter continued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it together. A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen. In that instant, we understood the reason we were there, why we celebrated the holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos, there was a purpose for our festivities. For when the last letter was held high, the message read loud and clear: "C H R I S T W A S L O V E" And, I believe, He still is. Amazed in His presence... .humbled by His love. Again, HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS SEASON!

1. Think of a number from 1 to 10. 2. Multiply that number by 9. 3. If it's a 2 digit number, add the digits together. 4. Subtract 5. 5. Determine which letter in the alphabet corrresponds to the number you ended up with. 6. Think of a Country that starts with that letter. 7. Remember the last letter of the name of that Country. 8. Think of the name of an animal that starts with that letter. 9. Remember the last letter in the name of that animal. 10. Think of the name of a fruit that starts with that letter. ARE Y0U THINKING OF A KANGAROO IN DENMARK EATING AN ORANGE????

If anyone is planning on riding Vancouver Island be aware that the Naniamo police have announced they are going to stop and check every motorcyclist they see during the next year. This is supposedly to stop motorcycle accidents and deaths. They say it is the same as enforcing no cellphone regulations. To me it is more like mugging tourists so they don't get mugged by crooks. I sent a letter to the Nanaimo Daily News and another one to the Victoria Times Colonist advising them to read the Hurt report and asking how harassing motorcyclists is going to stop some idiot on a cell phone from hitting them. The letter to the Times Colonist was printed yesterday but I don't know about the Nanaimo News as we don't get it here.

Was following a thread that mentioned American Motorcyclist magazine and a letter how racers were spoiling riding for the rest of us. Couldn't read the letter without signing up with them but did find this interesting pdf about the different State laws regarding riding. For a good summary... go to http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/asp/legisltn/OnHwyLawChart.pdf or... http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/PrintLaws.html For Canada... this article was good http://ezinearticles.com/?6-Things-You-Must-Consider-Before-a-Canadian-Motorcycle-Ride&id=1391477 or ... http://www.ehow.com/list_7224801_canadian-motorcycle-helmet-laws.html (didn't know I can't listen to music thru my helmet speakers !). Also... probably won't affect Venture riders but keep exhaust sound laws in mind too. Sorry... hijacking my own thread but for a history on motorcycle helmets.. http://www.thehistoryof.net/the-history-of-motorcycle-helmets.html Tips from an insurance company http://www.kanetix.ca/ic_moto_info_moto_articles_03

Which one of you grumpy, old crusty farts wrote the letter to American Motorcyclist (AMA magazine) complaining about those young whippersnappers ruining the riding world? Actually, it was a good letter with valid points (with a picture of a beautiful Venture). However, the first reading of the letter had kind of a 'git off my lawn' tone. After reading it again, he was right. RR

As some of you may have read, I wrote a letter to my local paper about keeping an eye out for motorcycles, and included a snippet of one of the few biker 'poems' (hate to call it that) that are floating around the 'net... Surprisingly enough, they published it! NOW it's under attack by some lady named Angie in the comments section... So aggrivating! Anyhow, here's the article link... http://www.jdnews.com/articles/riders-77329-keep-change.html?cb=1271682134

Has anybody else here in WI. had their insurance go up? Mine went up more than 48%. I've never had a claim or violation. They gave several reasons that may have resulted in the increase. One of which was thew passage of a 2009-2010 WI. Budget Bill, effective 11/1/09. anybody hear of that one? As far as I knew, there weren't gonna be any changes until this July when insurance is going to be mandatory. I scanned my letter and attached it to see what you guys think. Is my premium still lower, or is it time to start looking for a new carrier? Keep in mind this is for a full year.

Vicki and I flew to Las Vegas at the end of March to celebrate her 50th. We had some problems with the Air Canada flight leaving Toronto - it left, it came back, it was supposed to leave again, it was cancelled, it eventually went out the next morning. So, I wrote to our good buddies at AC and asked them to compensate us for: ·one night's hotel stay in Veags (I had pre-booked and pre-paid), ·breakfast (Tim's at TorontoAirport would not accept the AC voucher) and ·one night of parking at TorontoAirport). Anywho ... finally (a couple of months later) I get a response back from my good buddy (budette?), a certain T Wylie at AC Customer relations. It's basically a "too bad-so sad-but you're SOL" letter, where s/he tells me that they have already compensated me - on the rescheduled flight we received a letter - en francais, even - allowing us the pleasure of taking $75 off their nearly-exhorbitant regular fees whenever we felt like it ... and oh yeah ... please submit your original parking and meals receipts so that we can "consider" whether or not to reimburse you. So, this morning, I thought I'd have some fun with my good friend T. Wylie - here's the letter that I sent him/her back:
