1. I'm thinking about replacing my tail light bulb with a red LED to make it brighter. Has anyone done this,, does it work with the stock red lens or do I need to change to a clear lens.. Eventually I also want to change the turn signals to a cluster with running lights, brake lights and turn signals but not willing to spend quite that much at this time.
2. Not on the bike, but in the little Miata we just got. It was absolutely beautiful with views of at least 50 miles it was so clear. I took a couple of pictures, but did not realize I had a big greasy spot on the lens that I did not notice until I put them on the laptop. This was around the Little Switzerland area. We got off at 80 and went toward Burnsville as the road toward Mt Mitchell was closed. RandyA
3. My local Drag Specialist distributor wants $15.00 for shipping for a $2.95 Baron Mini Lens. Something I can mail for about $2.00. Looking for a non cracked Baron Mini Lens like the small one in the picture. It can be amber or red and the color can be really bad for I will be painting it red to match the others that I've already painted. I will be willing to buy the lens and pay for postage.
4. Just picked up a slightly used (maybe had 30 shots taken) Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR camera c/w 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and a 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS lens. The 55-250 lens was new in the box. Came with a real nice Lowepro "backpack" case ... all for $640! Now I can really make my scoot look great! Shot of our Honeysuckle vine at full zoom which is appx 30 ft away Shot of the house next door after dark. The "fire" is the street light. You can barely see the house with your eye due to the darkness, except for their outside lighting.
5. Folks, (On Kevin's recommendation below, let's call it: Right Front Turn Signal) My 84VR MKI had an unfortunate "garage crash" the other day for no apparent reason (aside from the sudden escape of front fork air). I had a 1x4 under the side stand (so she doesn't lean so much). I'm getting ready to replace the tires, and she'd been sitting for a couple of days since our last ride. So when I say "for no aparent reason" I mean I bent down to see just how bad the tread was on the front (cracks between the tread), and as soon as I tapped on the tire, the front end dropped 3-4 inches (air pressure had dropped to zero while she was sitting-obviously another issue), and because she had that 1x4 under the side stand, she dumped over on the right side, and crashed against a ladder hanging on a rack. The impact cracked the lens cover on the driving light, and the right mirror post. So getting on with my question: I've searched all of the service and parts manuals and can't find anything about a replacement lens. The only reference I've been able to find is a diagram calling out "driving light" ... with no parts breakdown or service procedure. So I don't know if the lens is available, or if I'm looking at replacing the whole light. Either way - no part numbers are called out. Is there a part number for the lens? And where can I find a replacement? Anybody got a used one they're willing to sell? Would also like to replace the mirror - although I can live with it for now. Any input is much appreciated.
6. I've seen some stupid stuff in my life and the morons that come with the show but geesh!, I had something happen that threw me completely today. What would be the last thing that you would think that someone would try to steal off your bike in the middle of the afternoon, in a Wally World parking lot at the end of the lane not 75 feet from the front entrance? Something real easy right? Something that would be real handy to just grab and go or cut off real fast right. How about the rear turn signal? Not just the lens but the whole danged thing! I park in that spot 5 days week doing my service route for my part time job. I'm usually in the store for 45 minutes to an hour. Some times less. I was walking up to the bike and saw something on the ground. It was the turn signal lens. First thought was some fool clipped the bike turning the corner. But no, the lens is in one piece. I saw the reflector for the light hanging down and the screws were gone. Got to looking and the taillight housing itself was pulled away from the bike an inch or so. I found the nut and washer for that on the ground under the bike along with one screw from the reflector and the screws for the lens. All they had left to do was jerk the wires loose and it would have been gone. I was ticked! How close did I come to walking up to them while they were taking my bike apart in the parking lot? I went over and asked a few Wally World workers taking their smoke breaks out front if they had seen anything going on over by my bike. Only one gal remembered seeing two other bikes parked by mine in the last 10 minutes or so but they had just left. Got my kit out and put it all back together and headed home. Still smoldering. I'm gonna keep parking my bike in the same spot. I'm going to start keeping an eye on it from the front of the store. I'm looking forward to introducing myself to the fool. He needs to meet me in person. I'm sure he will remember me after that. How bigga sack does it take to pull a stunt like that? Don't answer that.... no need to. Mike
7. I just received my Tri-bar headlight. Bought it on ebay from a Yamaha dealer. Its a factory Yamaha part, New in Box, date code on the label is 2004. The glass lens isn't perfectly clear. Taken by itself its not too bad, but its real noticeable compared to the Tribar passing lamps, which have perfectly clear lenses. The lens has just enough distortion to make the chrome tribar cover inside the housing look fuzzy, like the prescription in your glasses is off. Lens isn't dirty or foggy, just looks like the way the glass was made. Anybody else have this or notice this? Debating on whether or not to send back to seller. They aren't that easy to find though. Wondering if they all came through this way? Thanks, RSTDdog
8. My '91 VR came with an aftermarket light bar on the trunk. It has amber turn signals on the corners, "tail lights", just inboard, and the center section is a brake light. One of the turn signals burned out, and I thought I could get to the lamps by removing 3 screws from inside the trunk... Yeah, right. As it turns out, the turn signal lens, (and I'm assuming the red lens for the brake and tail lamps) just "pop" out. Apparetly the previous owner used RTV to keep the turn signal lens in place. Question is, does anyone know who made this light bar? I'd like to find more info about how it is mounted and how lamps are changed. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
9. Any one have a recommendation for a thin style digital camera in the $200 price range. I would like to get one that has HD video recording capability. I am not looking for an SLR type camera, would prefer the thin style, retractable lens would be fine. We have a Minolta Dimage X1 that has quit working. Gary
10. Does anyone have a clear taillight lens they would be willing to sell? I can't find just a clear lens. I am planning on purchasing an led taillight from radiantz or custom dynamics, and would like to get a clear lens to go with them. I realize clear alternatives makes an led kit that comes with a clear lens, but it has no license plate lights like the others, so I don't want that one. 05 RSTD
11. I am looking to change/upgrade the passing lamps on my RSV. They are the Yamaha OEM sealed beam style, and I would really like to change to something with a replaceable H3 bulb. I would still like to use the existing mounts, is there a way or a different lens housing I can use? I also hate that the sealed beam is "yellow" compared to my Silverstar Ultra. Any and all help you can provide would be great.. Thanks JM
12. My lens is cracked and I can't find just a lens for sale anywhere, the only way I can see to buy it is the whole assembly with the mounting flange and adjusters for like $125 at the cheapest. Anyone know of a place that sells just the glass? or have any cheap alternative to replace it? Would it be possible to just use a plain sealed beam headlight even?
13. http://f397.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f40731%5fADFqv9EAAE2DS8n68Q2YFnMcXqs&pid=1.2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The Ant and the Contact Lens: a true story http://f397.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f40731%5fADFqv9EAAE2DS8n68Q2YFnMcXqs&pid=1.3&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Brenda was almost halfway to the top of the tremendous granite cliff. She was standing on a ledge where she was taking a breather during this, her first rock climb. As she rested there, the safety rope snapped against her eye and knocked out her contact lens. 'Great', she thought. 'Here I am on a rock ledge, hundreds of feet from the bottom and hundreds of feet to the top of this cliff, and now my sight is blurry.' She looked and looked, hoping that somehow it had landed on the ledge. But it just wasn't there. She felt the panic rising in her, so she began praying. She prayed for calm, and she prayed that she may find her contact lens. When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but it was not to be found. Although she was calm now that she was at the top, she was saddened because she could not clearly see across the range of mountains. She thought of the bible verse 'The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth.' She thought, 'Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.' Later, when they had hiked down the trail to the bottom of the cliff they met another party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, 'Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?' Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across a twig on the face of the rock, carrying it! http://f397.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f40731%5fADFqv9EAAE2DS8n68Q2YFnMcXqs&pid=1.4&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The story doesn't end there. Brenda's father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a cartoon of an ant lugging that contact lens with the caption, 'Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You.' I think it would do all of us some good to say, 'God, I don't know why You want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if You want me to carry it, I will.' God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Yes, I do love GOD. He is my source of existence and my Savior. He keeps me functioning each and every day Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him... I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)
14. Doing my annual upgrade project on the 87 XVZ1300 and need a few parts to replace damaged bits and pieces. Please let me know if you have any of these items and are willing to sell. Front turn signal lens plastic water pump elbow temperature sensor for radiator fan Passenger leather pouch
15. Is the screw that holds the blinker lens in something different than a regular phillips head? I was trying to use a standard phillips screwdriver and did not have any success. I am trying to figure if mine are wallowed out phillips head or something different as far as the head goes.
16. I saw this stuff mentioned on another website (and maybe even this site somewhere) and thought I would try it. I have LOTS of trouble with my sunglasses fogging up. In fact, they fog up EVERY time I put them on and stayed fogged up UNTIL I started moving. Not only is this dangerous, but it's annoying as hell...and very distracting when I first take off. This fogging occurs EVERY TIME during ANY KIND of weather!!!! Therefore I can safely state that I could reproduce this "fogging" anytime and every time. I received the product today...so before I used it, I went ahead and put my sunglasses on and sure enough after about 30 seconds the corners of the sunglasses fogged up enough to where I could not see. I went back in and coated my glasses with the Clarity DeFog It and then went back outside...put the glasses on and NO FOG...wore them for about 5-10 minutes before getting on the bike and going out for a ride (after all, it was a pretty day). So I am a fan now. More testing will follow, but I saw difference like NIGHT and DAY. Now about the product. It can be used on almost any type of lens (polycarbonate, glass, etc)...and special coatings of the lens will NOT interfere with use of this product. It's not expensive to buy (although you don't get much), and a TINY, TINY bit goes a LOOOOONG way!!! I used 3 VERY small dabs on the lens and it worked fine. The product comes packaged with only 5ml of fluid and a special cloth to use, but it's only $5.99 for the liquid and $7.99 for the dried towelettes. I just ordered another bottle and also this time the towelettes...and expect those to last a LONG TIME!!! https://www.defogitworks.com/everyday
17. Here is Kent Hartland's DIY With my Version for Added Running Lights. He shows his version with the standard set-up . Follow his directions Mark and drill a pilot hole on the second ring and across from the bolt stud. I went up to a half inch drill bit and finished with my Dremal sanding tool. All my drilling was done form the inside as well. Another thing that is different is place the plastic nut that you just cut REVERSE IT from how Kent show's his. The reason is that it will clear the lens bolt tab perfect. finger tight. I also used some clear silicon sealer and just placed a small ring around the butt of the light lens as shown. it will squish out a little and wipe right off with ease. Here it is installed from the inside. It is almost in the right spot to be able to notice if you forgot to turn off your blinkers. This one shows that it will be lined up with the blinker bulb. And a few more all done , takes about an hour or less. I also added some di-electric grease to my bulbs, they were extremely dirty inside the bulb contact rings. Kent's picture was a little blurry, so here is one that might be a little better to read the part number. Enjoy, Jeff
18. The LED tail light should have been a quick install, but somewhere in my bikes past someone over tightened the screws for the lens and pulled two of the bosses out of the lens and the third one was cracked. Nothing really holding the lens on except the sticky gasket. So, get out the trusty epoxy and glue the bosses back in. After that dried, install the Radianz board. Job one finished. Now for the Stebel horn. Installed the relay on one of the bolts under the coolant recovery bottle. Removed the old right side horn and connected the old horn wires to the relay. Press the horn button to check the relay and it clicked as advertised. The factory horn behind the left fairing "clunked" meekly. Hum??? Light in my head came on, wonder if the horn I took off the right side of the bike will fit in behind the fairing? WRONG, they are completely different, but when I hooked up the "fairing horn" directly to the battery, it sounded off perfectly! Soooo, why not put it back in place and power it from the new Stebel relay????? Now all I need to do is fish a 14Ga wire under the tank. Done! Put a short 14Ga ground wire to one of the horn mounting bolts, pushed the horn button, relay clicks and the puny little horn is not so puny anymore! Now make up a "Y" connector and hook it up the the relay. Mount the Stebel air horn using the shiny Carbon_one bracket, hook it all up, push the horn button and DEY-YUM it is LOUD!!! The combination of the two horns will come close to waking the dead!!!
19. On my way to the eye surgeon to have a lens implant worked on (laser surgery). Have implants in both eyes... cant see too well out of my left eye due to crystilization formed over the left lens...haven't been seeing to good the last several months especially at night...........yikes....ok can't see anything at night any more while driving and during the day its like looking thru waxpaper...given taters some scares over the last riding season and hitting those potholes at night isn't good for thr scoot either....gets costly......... I'm confident all will go good today...if not I'll have to have the lens removed and a new one installed.....scalpuls and eyes give me the willies........Saturday's round will be with my oral surgeon...been having trouble with my gums getting infected and last week had to have more teeth pulled...all was great until two days ago when I got a new infection on the other side of the gums...can't win...by the time I'm done dealing with the entire tuneup this winter I'll be a new man...the good news is that my blood pressure is better and my glucuma is better too...I THINK !!!!! ok time to go...........
20. Does anyone have a head light frame they don't need? I want to install a Tribar lens on the Venture headlight frame, but don't want to destroy my stocker. It doesn't matter if the lens is cracked or broken, I'm going to break it out anyway. Thanks, Ponch
21. Might be time for a mod???? I was riding to work today and noticed in the reflection from the car in front of me one of the lightbar lights was out. Got to work and one of the light lens was cracked all the way across. Seal broken=no light. :-( Any suggestions on replacements?

24. a warning for folks with progresive lens glasses, I had mine in the hard case in the trunk for our 100+ degree ride, as I had my sunglasses on, when I got home, I noticed I couldn`t clean them, after looking close at them, I noticed that they are coming apart where the lenses change, I now have a line and little specs that look like they have chrystalized.... so its new glasses tomorrow, at least the lenses....I have never heard of this happening before..
25. Hello everyone. I am looking for a clear headlight lens. Anyone know where I can get one at? Bill
