What is the owner of a bike with title in hand thinking about or worrying about if he says this in his ad... "PLEASE FLORIDA BUYER ONLY/TITLE MUST BE TRANSFERRED IN A TAG AGENCY BEFORE BUYER LEAVES WITH BIKE."

Can someone in the area tell me if the leaves have started changing yet?

Two days ago it was 96 degrees. Today it was about 72 and rained all day. I have some really tall Birch trees in my yard and I already have a lot of leaves on the ground. I hope this tropical depression gets through soon as it is giving me a lot of depression. RandyA

For a couple years I've been blaming it on iron deficient blood, on vitamins, dieting, and a dozen other maladies. But now I've found out the real reason. It's because we're overworked. The population of this country is 237 million. 104 million are retired. That leaves 33 million to do the work of the entire nation. 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work. 29 million employed by the federal government. This leaves 19 million to do the work. Four million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 15 million to do the work. Take from the total the 14,800,000 people who work for State and City Government and that leaves 200,000 to do the work. There are 188,000 ill and in hospitals, so that leaves 12,000 to do the work. Now, there are 11,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me. And you're sitting there playing around on VENTURERIDER.ORG!!!!!

If you are the kind of person who has a reaction to Poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac-whatever... Basically, if you get a rash (contact dermatitis) from any of those, in case you didn't already know- It's caused by "urushiol" found on the leaves. Once you've touched it, you have about an hour or less to wash it off THOROUGHLY, or get ready for the tin weeping blisters to come along... Anyhow, if you like Mangos... Be careful. I found out this weekend that Mangos caontain Urushiol in the skin, stem, and leaves of the plant. I ate a mango (skin on) last Thursday, and I looked like Jospeh Merrick byt Sunday. A shot in the keester of steroids didn't help, so now I'm on a 12-day prednisone reginmen... Also while I'm in here, I might as well clear up some other things about Urushiol (poison): 500 people could itch from the amount covering the head of a pin. 1 to 5 years is normal for urushiol oil to stay active on any surface including dead plants. Burning poison ivy leaves is a BAD idea, as urushiol becomes airborne, and WILL get on you. Rubbing the rashes won't spread poison ivy to other parts of your body (or to another person). You spread the rash only if urushiol oil -- the sticky, resinlike substance that causes the rash -- has been left on your hands. Popping the blisters will NOT cause anything to spread.

I was leading a group of about 15 bikes this last weekend on a fall river/color (late, few leaves left on the trees, this is important) tour and ran into the results of a dumb property owner. I had done a pre-ride the night before, so we were on the road less than 20 hours after it was deemed clean and safe. Rounded a turn on a particularly curvy section (thus, this road is probably a favorite of bikes all summer long, even though I had just discovered it 20 hours before!) and found the ENTIRE LANE cover at least 2" thick with leaves. Luckily, even though I had run the road, I didn't know it that well, and was going pretty slow (leading) and I got on the CB (most riders had CB and we had been communicating all along) because a hand or foot signal would not be seen by other than the one bike behind me and he was already in the leaves! The leaves were dry thank goodness or it could have been worse. After I realized I was going to make it, and the alert had been sent, I looked and saw that the ditch was perfectly clean on that side of the road. Well howdy! How nice of the property owner to intentionally make a road dangerous just so a ditch (that wasn't even in front of the house, but well off to the side) could be clean. In thinking about it in the 36 or so hours since, I have come to the conclusion that this owner did this intentionally, putting the leaves in the road right after a curve to wreck some motorcycles or less likely, to slow and wreck some cars. He almost succeeded with our group, but since I was slow to begin with, only one bike without CB had a wiggle and everyone made it through safe. I was embarrassed, even though there was nothing I could have done to avoid the situation that I could think of, short of pre-riding the route 10 minutes before, and even then it wouldn't be a sure thing! We were single file, at a very reasonable speed, below the speed limit, and spaced pretty well. Those things saved us some skin and chrome I am sure. One last thought, I am tempted to call the county police and report this homeowner. I am sure there is some rule about debris being thrown on public roads. I own a bit of property that fronts a city street, and won't throw grass clippings or leaves on the road or over the curb. I see this all the time in the country though, and it ticks me off every time, even if I am in a car, because I am always thinking bike safety. This happened in Illinois, any Illinois police (or other police) have thoughts on reporting this property owner?

Whoa!!! Don't get too exited! this is not a complete bike, the engine, wiring harness and "brains" were removed for a trike. which leaves everything else. But if you want a good "everything else" give me a shout and I'll put you in touch with the owner.

OK not having a metering valve on my Mk1, where/how does it physically mount, and I assume (ass u me) that the arrow points downstream to the front caliper, right? Also, how does the bleedeer orient/mount? The picture in the service manual leaves a lot to be desired. Someone please post pictures, or if you happen to be local stop over. I promise to not let Big Tom near the garage that day...

On one of the last really beautiful warm Autumn Days I was riding around the Cincinnati and Northern KY area, and put this little piece together! With my Vimeo videos you can click the four little arrows in the lower right corner (next to where it says Vimeo) and have a good fast connection, you can watch these Full Screen in full 720p High Def! If not hover over the video and click the HD ON and that will turn HD off and it will stream a little faster on slower machines FYI... Thanks for watching! I was in a foot of snow on Snowshoe Mtn today 4800 ft. Coming across Rt 15 on Pt Mtn 4000 ft the snow was 8 inches with leaves in full color on the trees. Those golden, red, and yellow leaves look neat on top of snow. Oh yea the deer were moving everywhere. No scooters to be seen. New tires on the 4 wheel drive work great. :snow2:

Can anyone around Boone or Blowing Rock tell me if the leaves are starting to change there? I am thinking about riding to Grandfather Mountain, but if the leaves are already turning brown and falling off like here in VA I might need to find somewhere else to go. Thanks hairman

While enjoying the wonderful sites this time of year...please please remember to watch your footing as well. Those leaves laying around are plenty slippery!
