I don't mind the cost of great touring riding gear especially if I can avoid of any the mistakes that sent others back to buy something different. Any lessons you learned AFTER you bought gear for riding cool and wet winters (I'm in Oregon) or hot dry summers (like eastern Oregon) that you wish you had known, or purchases you wish you had made first? Thanks Tom

So I keep getting punished for teasing everyone about the wonderful weather we are having here. My battery capped out on my bike, fortunately in my garage and not somewhere away from home, but still ruined a nice day for a ride even if it was to work. Before I go and buy a battery to replace mine I've learned to bounce things off you guys so here it goes again. Any batteries out there that is a benefit over the stock ones in these bikes? Can't imagine there are too many options out there but I figure I should check just in case.

Things I learned as a potential juror today: 1. As a potential juror, I do NOT have the right to say. "I object!":confused07: 2. I do NOT have the right to say, "hearsay, your honor!". 3. Healthfood stores are dens of left-wing feminists (I learned this from the defense attorney). 4. I do NOT have the abilty to tell if people are guilty by looking at them. I was not selected, but I would have made an excellent juror, I think.

I should have learned the ancient art of Origami, which is the art of paper folding to produce beautiful things, before I attempted to wrap the family's Christmas presents. Oh well, I can always blame the dogs.....

I got the call yesterday that I have been dreading for sometime. My Father in law, StormRaven's Dad called to say he had a heart attack 2 Fridays ago and an emergency quad bypass surgery. He got to come home Fri. He sounded weak but was in good spirits when I talked to him. Also learned my adopted mum (my parents have already passed on) goes in tomorrow for another bypass surgery. Please keep them in your prayers. Tricia

As you all know my father has been in the hospital for just over three months. Today at 2:30 pm my father quietly passed away. His body just seemed to decide it had enough and shut down. I never thought I would suddenly feel such a huge emptyness as I did when he slipped away. My Father has been a big part of my life and I know everytime I swing a carpenters hammer to drive a nail or saw a piece of wood I am going to feel his absence, because everything I learned about building houses I learned from him. His favourite phrases were always 1- a job worth doing is worth doing right. and 2-never trust another mans tape measure.

I'm heading out tomorrow A.M. to pick up my "New to Me" 2005 Venture. I'll be going to Youngstown to see Randy (Crash) and picking her up. I've never ridden a Venture but I have ridden a Tour Deluxe. Is there a lot of difference in handling? I know that the Venture is a bit top heavy and that concerns me a little. I've been riding for over 30 years and I've learned that if your not a little nervous on a new bike there's something wrong. I was just wondering if there was any advice that you guys would give to a "Venture NewB"?

well as much as i hate to say something bad about crotch rockets. 2 and maybe 3 kids learned a good lesson today. they passed me like i was standing still on i-270, heavy traffic, weaving in and out. about 15 minutes later i saw red lights along side the road and 2 of them were on their knees next to their bikes in hand cuffs. came back by a little later and they were loading the bikes on a car hauler. guess their riding days are over. they will probably nail the one that got away later. i imagine they broke a whole bunch of laws before i saw them ,and the cops were waiting for them. can't really go off on them, i did a little stupid stuff like that when i was young. i just did'nt have as fast a bike. i learned the hard way to.

I hit the horn and the starter button at the same time and pow, no more power. I guess that was too much for the 30 amp main fuse. Lesson learned.

OK all of you AMSOIL Distributors, Tell us all that you know about the differences between the new EA oil filters compared to the previous SMF filters. And does this change justify the change in price IYHO? And don't give us the AMSOIL literature sound bites, but what you have learned and feel is important. And while you are at it, what drain and filter change intervals are each of you using on your Ventures? Curious minds need to know, Rick
