i have a noise coming from the back end maybe from the final drive sounds like im dragging something metal on the ground at first i thought it was my mud flap dragging from riding 2 up but that is to high off the ground it does not make the noise when leaning right for right curbs only does this when leaning left or hitting bumps in the road on the center stand in neutral spinning the wheel there is one spot i feel where the wheel rubs something on my 84 any ideas what it could be before i start tearing things apart to repair i would like to make sure i have all the parts i need so i can do this in one day early morning tear apart late morning early after noon fix late after noon put together and ride im using my 84 as a daily rider until the 99 RSTD is running.

Hello everyone I'm new to this site and I like it , very informative. I bought an 09 RSV in January and have loged about 16000 kms. since then, love the bike. The only thing so far that kind of anoys me , is the whine from the front tire. It does not matter wether i'm leaning left or right that loud whine comes up through the forks and it drives me nuts. I'll be changing tires in the spring .Any recomendations on quiet front tires? Thanks Gus...

I've got an '83 VR and am looking to bring the handlebars back about an inch or two without pinching the ends. (I'm running a leaning sidecar and the wider stance of the bars gives me more leverage) Is there something that would allow me to do so?

Looking to put a wider tire at the rear.What is the widest tire you guys have installed. Curious how it handles, especially leaning in turns. Screaming Red:doh:

It's cold out but no wind. See temp below. The sun is shining. Kinda hard to say if it's lionish or lambish but other than the cold I'm leaning towards the Lamb. Of course it is Sunday and we ALL should be leaning on THE Lamb (of God)...

Hey fellows, Just wondering if anyone might have experienced a rear wheel whine while leaning left at 80 Kmh (or 50mph)? It has been around for the last couple of years (at least 10,000 km) and I have not paid much attention to it. You can't really hear it below 80kmh or above 90kmh (55mph). It is just in that one speed zone and only when leaning left. Changing tire pressure does not seem to make any difference either. My gut feeling seems to think that the rear tire might the source of the sound. My Dunlop Elite II is about 40% worn and I can't remember if the sound was there when it was new or not. I am wondering if the cupping from wear is making it do this sound when leaned into the transition edge zone (Ie. between normal straight up running zone & the rarely used corner zone)? I can't remember if I read somewhere that the Firs Gen Venture rear wheel is slightly offset from the front (due to engine design, etc. - I could be wrong here) which could also accentuate the tire sound when leaning to one side more than the other. Another thought is that there may be a rear wheel bearing that might be showing some wear, but I don't have any experience with that on a Venture so I will have to throw it out to you all to see if you have had a similar experience . I get a lot of curious looks and inquiries about this custom feature on my 87VR. I wish I could take credit for this but this unique feature was already installed when I got the bike. It is a very, very handy feature to have when you pull up some where to park and the ground is leaning the wrong way. I don't know about you but, my greatest fear riding an 87VR is not the speed or the weight, it's haveing it fall over on the lean stand then having to ask for help to pick it up. I've also had some fun with it when I'm at an event and I back into a row of left leaning custom bikes with my unremarkable 87VR then lean it to the right. I love to watch the crowd walk by and ignore the custom bikes and focus on my right side leaning bike. -
I notice my turn signals sometimes auto-cancel, and sometimes I have to turn them off. How do they work? Do they cancel after a time-out, after leaning into a turn, etc? My owners manual doesn't seem to mention it.
