1. Returning from the Hell's Canyon Motorcycle Rally, Baker City, OR, this past Sunday I may have overpacked a saddlebag and now I am unable to open the saddlebag. Perhaps some material is in the way of the latching mechanism. After a couple of days trying to place pressure at various points and having helping hands depress the "open" button I am exhausted. My research so far suggest the OEM latch mechanism has some history of sticking and remedies have ranged from cutting off the hinges (trashing the bag) to getting one latch unlocked and insert a 14 inch rod to open the second latch. Once opened, then to lube the latch. A call to my dealer, RMC, resulting in them being willing to look at it but not sure if they can help. But the next opening in the schedule is a week or more away. A journey electrician and all around mechanic friend is going to look at it today for me. He's pretty handy and has a great mechanical attitude. I am looking for any experience and advice from this forum. Thank you in advance.
2. I'm trying to get the TCI connector plugs out. They wiggle but don't want to come out. There is a tab on top of the plug, is it a latch that needs to be lifted or do I just need to pull harder?
3. I'm in need of the right side saddle bag lid for my '86. I think it was stolen while I was in the auto parts store. Who knows? Maybe I just didn't latch it. Any way I sure need one. If you can help out, thanks.
4. 1986 Honda Goldwing Aspencade - Triked with the same trunk that was on the two wheel bike. The pictures show what he has now and the parts are missing. He was at my house today to pick up a flag mount. A friend at church needs a part for his latch on his trunk. He has looked and says he gives up. So I volunteered to help him find the part. I told him that I had connections that worked every time. He is not computer oriented. He needs this for his original trunk, part of the latch that is connected to allow the latch to grab hold of the top lid hasp. The lid is fairly large and it has a wind deflector sport type visor on it also. There is two parts there, one on each side of the lid. He said there is a part that goes in the latch on the bottom, a couple small rods of some type. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Fuzzy
5. my left saddlebag is in a bind at the rear, it won't open. any suggestins as to how to get it open. I'm in Colorado and my jacket and rainsuit are in there. I push down on the latch as hard as i can while my friend tried to get it aligned. we're stumped. any help would be greately appreciated.
6. Coming home from MD weekend the left side of the trunk latch wouldn't open when we stopped to eat. I was able to force it open but then it wouldn't latch. When we arrived home the right latch wouldn't open. Again I had to force it. When I pulled the latch assembly off the trunk I found that the lock mechanism is held in by 2 screws, one was loose. Turns out there is a spring on each side that is continually trying to lock the latch, the lock cylinder pulls a mechanism against the springs to unlock. With the loose screw the pieces misalign causing the trunk to be locked even with the lock cylinder in the unlock position. Fortunately I was able to reassemble it and it now works fine. Just a tip that you might want to check those screws are snug. Apparently they can work loose in 20 years.....
7. Alright...i'm having a problem and need some advice....I recently lubricated all the hinges and moving parts on my saddlebags...NOW, my right saddlebag will latch closed BUT after riding for a few minutes it pops open. I was able to duplicate this by hitting the bottom of the bag a few times and i can easily get the latch to pop. I have taken it apart and put it back together. Everything was tight and it is still doing it. I have not seen anyway of making the latches tighter and i'm in need of some help. This didnt happen before i lubed them so im thinking the lube has to wear off but im hoping someone has an idea...

11. i opened the trunk yesterday and the tab thet goes into the latch was still in the latch. it some how broke off is there any way i can glue it ansd if so what kind of glue do i use and also do you think i might be able to use fiberglass resin to hold it better?
12. Right rear saddlebag on the 99 is broke. You can unlock it and push down on button but no tension on latch. It's not working the release. I can't unbolt it until after it's open. So how can I get it to release? I have a shop hammer close by but not that desperate yet.
13. Lately I've had a little trouble closing the lid on my trunk on my 07 Venture. This morning it was really difficult. Doesn't seem to want to latch. It was dark when I rode to work so I couldn't tell what was going on. I know nothing was between the hook and the latch. I'd appriciate any suggestions. TIA, Eddie:confused24:
14. Hey all, have had my midnight venture over three weeks and i have a hard time getting rear trunk to shut and latch without putting serious weight into it and even then it takes a couple of times of pushing down to get it latched. took off black plastic latch cover inside trunk and everything seem tight and lined up. wondering if anyone else had this problem and ideas to correct it. oh when i get it latched it does lock as it should and opens fine. thanks Brian D.
15. I have had a problem with one of the saddlebag latches on my 2004 Venture. The latch is extremely difficult to open. It closes just fine but to open it I have to press down on the latch with both hands really hard. Does anyone know about this problem or how to adjust it?
16. Hello I would like to know how to remove the latch cover inside the trunk of a RSV1999, there is 4 plastic knobs that seems to hold it in place but I don't know how to remove them and don't want to break anything. Is there any special tool needed? Can I use something else? Any trick? I have included a picture from inside the trunk so you can see what I mean. Thanks for your help Hermann
17. If any of you had the unfortunate or helpless feeling as I have had when you try and take the saddlebag or trunk of the brackets and all the key and lock does is turn turn turn, really sucks!! Well, what I did was take the locking mechanism off the bag (in my case bags), unscrew plate on back remove circular tumbler (making sure not to lose the spring that holds pressure on latch), replace plate and install lock back on to bag. Now, to remove bag from bracket just take screwdriver or knife blade and push against front side of latch. Holding latch with blade push bag backwards. Not the best way to fix the problem but it works for me!!!
