Okay, so the first leg of my Three Flags Classic rally ride is completed. Left my home yesterday, just outside of Olympia, WA., and made it down to El Paso, TX. in slightly under 24 hours. That was 1,727 miles from home to El Paso. Had horrendous head winds through Idaho, fuel mileage down to 28mpg. Lots of wind in the higher mountains, and...BigLenny...I have to agree with my compatriot MikeWA that simple physics on a naturally aspirated bike will show you that riding in much higher elevations will show you a lack of power on your '07 RSTD. I certainly felt that lack of power crossing passes at 6,000 and 7,500 ft. Passing power was affected, and I had to drop a gear more times that usual to go the speeds I wanted to. No rain to mention, but the heat was a killer. It was 98 in Boise, 92 in Cortez, CO, and mid 90's in El Paso. There was one particular (fun to watch) lightning show in far southest Utah, but I avoided being struck, (ha ha). Being from western WA., I really like riding in 60's degree weather. The hotter it gets, the less miles I am wanting to do. Give me a solid 60 degrees, and I can bust out 1500 + miles every day. So I made it to El Paso, and now we wait for all the "normal" riders to show up over the next two days. The we leave here at 3:00 am on Friday, head to Buena Vista, CO., then to Little America, WY., and then Dillon, MT., and finally end in Nelson, B.C. Entire round trip for me, home to home, should be about 4,500 miles. Other than lack of power at higher elevations, the bike ran excellent. The greatest asset on this ride has to be my new Russell Day-Long Saddle. My 10th seat from them, and by far the best yet. Never once had one second of discomfort in 1,727 miles in under 24 hours. Time to get into my motel room, and get some sleep. If I can, still UP from the ride.

Hello, I recently acquired a 1996 Royal Star Trike. The exhaust needs replaces and as I have found out, it is a rare animal and parts are difficult to find. Can anybody here point me in a direction? I have done all the searching I know how to do and keep coming up with nothing. Also, for a V4 it sure seems to lack a lot of power. Motor is running well, just seems to be missing something comparing to the inline 4 cylinder I was used to. Thank you, Jim

We just got our RSV last weekend and I was getting a tad frustrated at the lack of accessories for the bike compared to others. I searched and searched and searched on here, asked some questions and, lo and behold, I had answers to just about anything and everything I wanted to know!! I'm still a tad frustrated at the lack of accessories for this bike compared to, say, a Harley , which everyone seems to make accessories for, but that's just the way it is and I love our new bike. So This board is wonderful!!!! Thank you to every single one of your for sharing your help, your experiences, your knowledge and your time with me and everyone else!!

Just amazed that 5 th is so tall. Any upgrade in the road it's 4th or 3rd and 5th only level or downhill above 70. I know I can put the v max rear end in to change that. But the lack of hp and the tall gearing is making me think twice about keeping my 96 Royal Star. It's showroom and runs great but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

made the mistake of stopping in at my dealer saturday, and saw, and sat on the new victory crossroads. swore i would never buy another new bike, but this is probably the most beautiful bike i ever set eyes on. ultra comfortable ergomomics. i think it is the best looking factory bagger available. the one they had is jet black and really makes a statement. the only drawback is the lack of water cooling. if i did'nt like my nomad so much, i would consider buying one. it's not in the cards in the near future. maybe next year. i would like to get down to one all around bike and the victory could fill the bill.

A friend of mine has a '05 RSTD. When you turn the handlebars all the way left or right there is a popping noise from the stearing head. Could it be lack of greese or just wornout bearings. He says the bike handles fine. tew47

If I was to rebuild my carbs, is there anything I should be on the lookout for? A while back I was having troubles with it not running on all four. The issue came on all of the sudden. I ran some Seafoam through it, and after a while it came back. Everything appeared to be fine for quite some time. But then I noticed my mileage dropping. I was getting 38-40 mpg, but now I'm getting down to 32-35 mpg. I tried Seafoam again and it makes no difference. I've also changed the fuel filter, spark pllugs, plug wires, plug caps, synched the carbs, checked the diaphrams for holes and nothing has seemed to make a diff. I was having trouble with a bad stator about the same time and thought maybe a week charge (or lack of), may cause a week spark that might lead to a lack of a good fuel burn and have someting to do with poor mileage. I replaced the stator this fall. I didn't run more than two tanks or so through it since then. But it still seems to be getting the same crappy mileage as earlier. Anybody have any other ideas? Time for a rebuild? Won't be riding for a few more months up here in WI. so I have plenty of time to do it. Thanks, Bill

I belong to a few forums out there and I guess this week it came to shocking realization how much goes into this fine place we call home. One of the Chevy Avalanche forums I belong to came to an end due to lack of support and lack of help for the Admin. He just couldnt do it anymore and the money was up there. Sure everyone begged him not to shut it down and a few offered a few bucks but no real help. Real sad day there and I was only there a few weeks. I guess what Im trying to say is Thanks so much for all you do. You handle things so well here both administrator wise and reasoning wise many take it for granted. I hope you never get to that point ever and if you are ever close we will give the help! Everyone a little donation from time to time helps alot cuz this place is free to us but someone had to pay so we should all share a little of it. And Don--- Thank You!!!
