  1. My Daughter-in-law has been pregnant of 41 weeks now and the Doctors said it's time to evict the soon to be Granddaughter. Doctors have been telling them longer then 41 weeks can be an added danger. My son just called from the hospital and they are ready to induce labor. Son said they are giving her something that is 30% effective in inducing labor and if something doesn't happen tonight they will give her something stronger tomorrow. There has been no signs of problems with the baby or Mother. Picture was taken yesterday. Praying all goes well.

  3. It's a commin, Nascar on Da River, labor day weekend Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. We are about 1 hr south of Chicago very close to I57 and Rt17. This is a noisy weekend of Boat Races, bands and activities. We are on the river where a turn is , next to the start & pits. Room in the yard for campers . . . If you do come in, we are past the last Barricade, tell security you are coming to my house. . . Here is a link for the River Road side http://www.kankakeeregatta.com/
  4. Had it done yesterday and they were perfect. No adjustment needed. They did sync the carbs though. Whole job was $391. 5.2 hours labor.
  5. Do we have any storage shed builder's out here on this site kinda close in the area? I need a 6 or 7X12 shed with a 5 foot opening door on the 6 foot side and a floor inside. I am willing to buy the material and pay for labor for someone who might need extra money and give me a reasonable price. I am in a small trailer park and not a lot of room. Thanks Joe
  6. The North Dakota Department of Labor claimed a small Bismarck farmer was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to investigate. Department of Labor employee: I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them. Farmer: Well, there's my farm hand that’s been with me for 3 years. I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board. Then there's the mentally challenged worker. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night so he can cope with life. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally. Department of Labor employee: That's the guy I want to talk to...the mentally challenged one. Farmer: That would be me.
  7. Soon I'll be setting my labor rate for the upcoming season and would like some input. If you know what shops in your area are charging/hour I'd appreciate the following feedback: Dealer/Independent Geographical area (eg. West Tennessee). Labor rate. Thanks!
  8. my great niece had to do a research on labor day she found out that over 70% of the work force work on labor day. 60% never get that day off unless they work 2 years for there company. over 80% get that day off without pay.. wow some holiday huh????
  9. After 55,000 miles I finally blew my rear shock. Question, is it safe to ride 2-up? We have a ride planned Labor Day weekend, I'm 180 lbs and my wife is 155 lbs.
  10. Any body going to the rally in Grandburry TX this Labor Day week end..... I wont be hard to spot I don't think,,
  11. Hi, I am new here and this is my first post. I have a 1990 venture royale that just turned over 40,000 miles. It was working very well until recently, but now it is revving too high and, in addition, I have to manually turn the throttle back to slow the RPMs down (i.e.: it does not go back if I just release it). I have been told that I have two problems: 1) I need a new throttle cable, and 2) I have some kind of vacuum leak. Then they tell me that since it is a very old bike, they can not give me an estimate of what it will take to fix it because once they start probing all the little connectors near the carb they may fall apart and it may take an undeterminable amount of time (labor) plus time (elapsed) while looking for whatever parts may be needed. I realize that it is true that without a magic ball it may be impossible to come up with an accurate estimate, but I would like to have an idea of some likely range, specially the upper bound. Any ideas on realistic cost in terms of 1) availability and cost of parts that are likely to be needed and 2) number of labor hours involved? I thank you in advance for any light you may shed on the subject
  12. Leaving for the hospital. Our oldest granddaughter is in labor with her first child. This will be our 2nd great granchild...another boy. She went into labor at 2 am. Will keep you posted. Pat and Don PS. It makes us feel so old!!!
  13. Yesterday I rode out to Lafayette Powersports located at 612 Beau Pre Road in Lafayette to do a price check regarding maintenance for my scoot..... Carb Synch.....$380.00....and the Service Manager sez it will take 4 hours of Labor !!! Rear tire change-out.....$180.00.....Labor Charge Only!!! Boomer.....who left there so fast he forgot to pee on the floor.....and will be going to any Maintenance Days he can beg an invite to!!
  14. I am due for the 26,600 mile (42,000 Km) service. The maintenance manual says that at 26.6K, a valve clearance check and adjustment needs to be performed. I called my dealer and was estimated 3.5 hours of labor and $400. From his description of what should be done, it seems that they'll perform a 4,000 mile service. "It is a very thorough service", he said. Does this seem reasonable? Dave
  15. Hi, What is the approximate cost of parts to do the second gear repair these days? Not the labor, just parts. Thanks, Brian H.
  16. I just completed the TVA Fire Academy last week, and when I got home, my defenses were down. I had been home about 2 hours Friday, when the flu hit me hard. Everyone seems to think it was the H1N1, but not positive. I was shivering like crazy, and my temp kept trying to hang around 103 degrees F. I had a bad headache, swollen glands in my neck, sore throat, and overall weakness. I didn't freak out. I drank LOTS of cold water, used ice packs, and took lots of Ibuprofen....and I waited it out. After the third time of sweating it out, the fever went away, and hasn't returned. I still have a bit of a sore throat and headache, but I think they will pass with time also. The important thing is...I kept my butt at home, and didn't go out spreading it around. What a way to spend my Labor Day weekend. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
  17. How much would you pay far a complete rear brake job ---- rotor pistons and seals and the labor to do it
  18. If you haven't been to the Pork in the Pines. Great food Great people (well Red1 may or may not be there this year) Great riding and did I mention Great Food. So, if you really want to have a great labor day week end please consider coming to the 2009 Pork in the Pines. www.porkinthepines.com
  19. The manual call for the steering head and swingarm to be greased at this time. The dealer is saying it will take 8 to 10 hours of labor or $640.00 to $800.00 dollars. Is there some way to grease these areas with out disassembling the motorcycle? Barry:Im not listening to

  21. I had my bike towed over to Motion last week to get a flat fixed. On my way there I called to find out what the labor would be and was told $64. When I arrived there the service manager came outside and wrote down the mileage and VIN. I confirmed with him that the labor was $64. When I went to pick it up later that day they tried to charge me $100 for the labor. When I asked why they said because the bike had hard bags on it. This didn't seem to be an issue when I dropped it off. The clearly saw that the bike had bags then. So anyways I went back to the service manager and he started blaming it on the new guy, even though he is the one that gave me the price. After telling him several times I wasn't paying the higher price he finally said "it’s been a long day, what do you want the ticket to be?" I added it up for him and paid the $64 labor. In short if you get any service there make sure to get the cost in writing when drop it off. I don't know why they would try to pull something like that but they lost at 3 three customer's business. My dad, my brother and myself. My brother bought his bike. I noticed they were allot friendlier when you are handing them a check for $9 grand.
  22. There are only three places close enough to bring the scoot for any type of work. I needed a back tire and got a Bridgestone last weekend. $195 for tire $150 for labor (they all charge $100 and hour) $30 for tax $380.00 for one tire Just wondering what everyone else was paying
  23. Okay folks, maybe ya'll can help. I know it's not a Venture but I gotta crawl before I walk so here goes.......... My V-Star quit running last summer. Took it in to a bike mechanic, says the CDI unit went out. Finally replaced that a few weeks ago. Still won't start. Have had ppl tinkering to avoid having to take it up to Fargo and get raped for a simple job. The latest is it has no spark but it's arcing somewhere like where the seat goes but Bones (Tinkerer #3) can't find where. He's more of a motor man than an electrical man. I just know it's something so simple that a guy could look it up and bam there's the problem and it's an easy fix. I just haven't found that right guy. Just for taking the tank off Fargo would charge like an hour labor and it took Bones 3 minutes to get it off so you see my problem. Gawd do I wish it was Labor Day W'end and I was at Pork in the Pines and my bike was the pity bike! But it's May and it's riding time, and gas is through the friggin roof and more importantly, I've got the itch dammit, I wanna ride! I know ya can't fix a bike without it in front of ya so suggestions are all I'm asking for. H E L P ! Brandi
  24. Well I did it. I bought my 2006 RSMV in December. It turned 8,000 miles this week so I performed my first "Do it yourself" maintenance for the 8,000 mile service. 1. Oil Change 2. Oil Filter Change 3. Inspected hoses 4. Inspected Brakes 5. Changed out Spark Plugs (Anything I need to do after changing plugs?) The plugs were a bear to change out. I had to take the seat off, loosen the Gas Tank take of the "dressing on the cylinders so I could access the fron plugs. Is there anything else I need to do. I rather enjoyed doing this myself and saved almost $200.00 in labor costs had the dealership where I bought the bike would have charged me for labor alone Al Tomlinson Bisbee, AZ
