Does anyone know what the failure rate is for the rear shock on the 2nd gen ventures? I have a 2004 with 30000 kms on it and the rear shock is leaking oil. Any and all advice is appreciated! Cheers!

fuel light came on . I kept riding .20 kms later Needed to switch to reserve. I kept riding . 70kms after that i ran out . Thats ok now i know I have less than 70 kms on reserve. BUT what pee'd me off was the fact I could only get less than 22 liters in the tank . What happened to 23 liters and 3 of reserve making this a 26 liter tank ?

So, Trying to figure out some things on my '05. What is the typical expected life for the Brake Pads. I replaced the rears 2 years ago and now have put on 14,000 Kms (yup Canadian Eh!) on this set of rear brake pads. They were EDC FB??? for the dealer. Sounding like on the rear, the caliper is not fully releasing in the past few days? Grease to the brake pistons required? No pads on the front since I became the owner of this unit. Getting a squeaking noise from the fronts now, so thinking it's time. Total mileage on the scooter is 50,500 Kms. Any feedback (and I know I will get your thoughts) is appreciated.

I think I wasted 3 riding seasons on the 02 Nomad we had. This RSV is a much more refined ride. A pleasure in and around towns and stuff. The Nad was a bit of a pig. I always hated the engine noise at slow speeds. I spent a lot of time and effort to get it sorta wind free. Engine guard chaps, wider windscreen, larger lowers. In the end I was wanting a trunk. And then it left me stranded 800 kms from home with a broken tranny. I filled the air shock today. 30 psi. Way nicer handling now. Even with the stock tires. It lifted me in the seat so that I can actually see a little better over the ShowChrome windscreen I installed. It's a bit windy at 150 kph but I don't ride that fast normally Gonna change out the tires here shortly. Need some thoughts on that. How many kms you guys get per tank? I put in 20 liters today @ 276 kms. Isn't the tank 22 liters? There's lots of rpms so I don't believe in wasting them and like to pull hard thru the gears.I get a slight tingle in my feet and hands when I do. Does anyone else get that? It's kinda like a buzz as opposed to a vibration. I also installed a Utopia backrest...God bless the guys who recommended that! It's worth every penny! All in all it was a great ride the missus and I had today. Gerbing jackets are a godsend as well!

Well, I'm done (knock on wood). I bought a 1983 VR a month ago, low Km's ran great. It had a few issues I thought should be no problem. Silly me, lol. I should tell you I have never owned a bike that had more than Spark, Gas and Go before so this was an ad(venture) in working with a whole lot in a little space. My yoga teacher would be proud, lol. Speaking of proud, it is the members of VR that should be proud. As I said I was lost at a few stages of overhualing this wonderful bike. I had such a great responce to my questions and extra info on this bike I never knew I needed to know Me and Mrs Knees have been out on it every night this week just piling the km's on it to make sure everything is trip worthy. My god what a ride, time and km's seem to just drift by. I appreciate all the help with getting everything up and running and the only thing I had to buy was the stater. When I get some pictures I'll post them, show you what you helped put together. Knees In The Breeze

Up here winter is approaching quickly , I put away my scoot yesterday Its amazing how quickly the Kms pile up. I purchased my new scoot 1988 Honda Super Magna in the middle of July and put on 8386 kms on it and the furthest distance I travelled was Lowell to Manitoulin Island Its a far cry from when I had my Venture when I averaged 40,000 km a season... Ohhh !! How I miss Touring among The Venturerider members

Well here in the land of Oz it is really quite difficult to go and buy yourself a RSV. Checked with a lot of dealers all over the country and there are no stocks. The very last 07 RSV was shipped out of here to New Zealand. I'm a bit disappointed that Yamaha Australia are still listing the 07 XVZ 1300TF on their inventory but are no longer importing them to Australia. So looking for any used bikes around the whole country there are only 3 for sale that I can find. I'm doing a deal for a white 04 with around 25,000 kms on the clock (15,500 miles). The only problem is it is 3,000 miles away. Gee, I must be keen:thumbsup2:. I've booked my flight for Monday week and am going to ride it back from north of Brisbane to Perth. (will soon find out if I like the bike or not). Have to decide if I will have time to return on the coast road or cut across country and save myself 1,000 kms. Just wish I had a few weeks instead of a few days to ride back.
