1. I recently got a pair of Road King mufflers to put on my 2005 RSV, it was a very simple conversion except 1 thing. I need to find a exhaust sheild that will cover where the pipes meet the muffler. Anyone have any ideas?????
2. I was in one of my local independent bike shops today and found a new/ used(1 week) set of Road King mufflers very reasonable do I need any bushings, gaskets, special clamps or brackets to mane the switch, I have an 06 RSV and would like just a little more sound:cool10:
3. Reading USA Today , Wednesday,s edition and in the money section I see Tim Horton,s stockholders just approved its sale. For about 11 billion dollars they will now be owned by Miami based, wait for it, Burger King. To be honest, Burger King is moving to Ontario, tax purposes, so Timmies wont be totally American. I just hope they don't try to mix them together and start serving Whoppers. Sorry to all my northern friends but little by little and soon you,ll be just like us. Just get rid of the ""eh"" and we got ya.
4. I got my Road King slips ons today. They are from an 09 bike and were never used. I looked into the input on one of them and it looked like a wig was stuffed in there. This is what I pulled out. It appears to be packing? The stuff you see is brownish, the rest inside the muffler is white. Anyone else see this? Now that I pulled it out a bit did I screw it up?
5. I would like to know what year or part number Road King factory exhaust will fit 05 RSTD
6. I know...I know another RK Muffler question. I just wanted to check on something. I just got a very nice set of slash-cut Road King mufflers. They are off a 1998 model. Serial Numbers are: 65546-98 and 65547-98. From my reading here and other forums I understand that these will not contain the catalytic converter. However, when peering though the mufflers I noticed that I can see through the 65547-98 through a small center hole down in the muffler. I cannot see through the 65546-98. Is this normal or is there a problem with the one I can't see through?
7. I have a 98 Royal Star that I have almost completely turned into a tour deluxe. The last thing on my list are saddle bags, as I have all of the brackets and exhaust installed. The problem I am having is finding factory bags without spending a fortune! Is there somewhere besides eBay that I can source them? Also, I use to have a road king classic and I really kind of Liked those bags. Believe it or not, I can buy a pair of those for half the Yamaha factory bags. Has anyone done this, and if so is there a write up and pictures?
8. I am installing Road King mufflers on my 83 Venture Royale.I had no trouble getting exhaust pipes between the muffler and the manifold. My question is does anyone know a way to fab the rear brackets?I have an idea but am looking for other options. Also can the mufflers be drilled out or will it cause problems? With the new mufflers on it sounds pretty good but is still quiet. If they can be drilled out, what is the best way?Any help would be much appreciated.
9. has anyone done a rk muffler swap with a first gen?
10. Being a snowbound retiree I do spend quite a while with my nose buried in a book. So I was wondering - WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE BOOKS? Mine are: Mystery - The Sculptress by Minette Walters Horror - 'Salems Lot by Stephen King Fantasy - The Stand by Stephen King Sci-Fi - Perdido Street Station by China Mieville Biography - Willie Nelson Story Bike Book - Fallen Angel , Long Way Round Magazine - Cycle Canada
11. I'm interested in finding a set of Road King exhaust pipes for my 06 RSTD. Does anyone know of anyone or have any they might be interested in parting with? I think I need a bracket too, but I'm not sure which or where to get one. My understanding is that Road King exhausts will give me a bit of sound without putting my wallet in too much jeopordy so I'd like to give them a shot. As long as my ears won't be ringing after an hour long ride, I'd be OK. Based on what I've read on around here, quite a few folks like them and it doesn't sound like they will have any type of negative impact on the performance of my bike. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
12. Hey Ya, Got some questions about Road King Slip Ons. I bought a set of RK Slipons from the HD dealer that came off a 2010 bike. When I got home with them I looked in the tubes and the baffles are different. I called the salesman and he said all the newer models were that way. So I guess I have to buy two sets to get a matching pair? I have the brackets to mount them, but don't know what type of clamps ya are talking about. The clamps that hold the RSV slipons won't work? Thanks. Glenn
13. A certain fellow left his key/headlight on while we where stuffing our self's with fish. Man that fish was good .... And so was the big laugh we all had afterwards, it was not so much as what happened, but at what was said in the crowd that was willing to help push and give jumps from a Harley Road King... Sorry, but can not help it.
14. I know everyone who has chenged thier bars here says the way to go is that flanders bars. Due to the lack of available expendable fund I will have to wait months. The other option is toi find nice bars on ebay and get them in a week. I have been looking at road king and a few royal star bars. Better pull back and wider as well. has anyone tried road king bars, There is one I am looking at which does not have the knurled mounthing sections in the middle. is this necessary on our bikes for secure mouning or can i mount smooth handle bars? i have 3 on watched list on ebay right now so I am looking for the jury before purchasing. I can get one of these for $40 with shipping, hope I can go this route and save some cah while enjoying my ride some more.
15. I know if I put a Road King muffler on my 08 RSV, I will have to use some custom brackets for support. My question is: will I have to use a bushing or will it slip right on the pipes without a bushing?
16. Crazy Facts You Probably Don’t Know. Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled “Gentlemen Only…Ladies Forbidden”…and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language. The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV was Fred and Wilma Flintstone. Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the US Treasury. Men can read smaller print than women can; women can hear better. Only two people signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, John Hancock and Charles Thomson. Most of the rest signed on August 2, but the last signature wasn’t added until 5 years later. The State with the highest percentage of people who walk to work: Alaska The percentage of Africa that is wilderness: 28% (now get this…) The percentage of North America that is wilderness: 38% The cost of raising a medium-size dog to the age of eleven: $ 16,400 Q. Half of all Americans live within 50 miles of what? A. Their birthplace Q. Most boat owners name their boats. What is the most popular boat name requested? A. Obsession The San Francisco Cable cars are the only mobile National Monuments. In the 1400′s a law was set forth that a man was not allowed to beat his wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes. In Shakespeare’s time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. When you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase “goodnight, sleep tight.” It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride’s father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon. In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts… So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them “Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down.” It’s where we get the phrase “mind your P’s and Q’s” More Crazy Facts Many years ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. “Wet your whistle” is the phrase inspired by this practice. Q. 18. Once upon a time there lived a king. The king had a beautiful daughter, The PRINCESS.. But there was a problem. Everything the princess touched would melt. No matter what; Metal, Wood,Stone, Anything she touched would melt.. Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her. The king despaired. What could he do to help his daughter? He consulted his wizards and magicians. One wizard told the king, 'If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured.' The king was overjoyed and came up with a plan. The next day, he held a competition. Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt would marry her and inherit the king's wealth.. THREE YOUNG PRINCES TOOK UP THE CHALLENGE. The first brought a sword of the finest steel. But alas, when the princess touched it, it melted. The prince went away sadly . The second prince brought diamonds. He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt. But alas, once the princess touched them, they melted. He too was sent away disappointed. Thethird prince approached. He told the princess, 'Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there.' The princess did as she was told, though she turned red . She felt something hard. She held it in her hand. And it did not melt!!! The king was overjoyed. Everybody in the kingdom was overjoyed. ! And the third prince married the princess and they both lived happily ever after. Question: What was in the prince's pants? M&M's of course... They melt in your mouth, not in your hand. What were you thinking??
19. I have some stuff for sale cheap...I have the stock mufflers and a set of HD Road King mufflers if anyone is interested. Let me know. Starkruzn@gmail.com
20. Last night my friend and modified my road king mufflers by driving a 1/2 in. rod all the way through the pipes. Now I have decent sounding exhaust, but I am concerned if I leaned out the motor too much. Opinions?
21. I have a 2 sets of R/K mufflers number is 65546-98A Are these off a 98 R/K or not..
22. Well, it actually took me about 5-6 hours, but the end result is very nice. I installed a set of new old-stock Road King mufflers on my 98 RSTC2. The hardest part was making my brackets, but I got to use my new wire-feed welder, Ye-ha. Sound is much better than the drilled out stock mufflers. BTW, I didn't drill them out, they were already that way when I bought the bike. They sounded terrible. Getting the new mufflers to slide over the exhaust pipe was a real pain, with lots of grinding and filing, but finally got it. Thanks to all for the information and pics.
23. I just bought my uncle's 96 red/wht Royal Star (with only 4500 miles!), and have been reading about the Road King exhaust fitting onto the RS, with a modified bracket. Is there a particular year range RK exhaust? Where can I find a bracket? Thank you! Jon Jax, FL.

Tires

Hey I don't want to start a tire debate with this one, I went to my stealer while a friend of mine had his tire put on his GW why he didn't bring it here and use my jack I don't know, to change the tire was 70.00 5 bolts and the tire drops down... So the parts guy told him to keep his eye open in April they will run a sale on Metzler tires, I said what about E's or avon, then reach across the counter shook my hand and said good luck with them, they are the internet king of tires, blah blah, then as I look around, I said oh I get you don't have them in stock and you don't sell them... Here was the kicker for me, How much to change the my tire out "rear" he said 135.00. Sounds good to me what kind of tire...No that is labor only, so might open me a shop changing tires at less rate and in 2 yrs retire...They are nuts on that price
25. Went for a ride today with two of my Hardley riding co-workers. One has a stock Road King and the other just bought a Police Road King, that was turned in at the end of a two year lease. We made about a 12 miles of a 35 mile trip around the Natchez Trace when the fellow with the Police bike pulled in to a rest area, cause he needed to check for leaks. I just sat there and smiled! He was marveling at how quick that bike is as it would jump right up on 90, before he shifted into 6th gear. I need to let him ride my RSV...
