Hello everyone and almost Happy new year! I have been doing some research and reading up on safety gear, and such and. I have the alpine stars, the olympias, the heavy leather and such. Seems like Motoport is getting a lot of good/great reviews regarding their kevlar suits, pants and jackets. Now they are not cheap by any stretch, but testimonies from others on various forums and site seem to swear they are the top banana in safety wear. Lately, I have been more concerned with the good or poor choices of my gear in such an event happen. So....I wanna here from you guys and gals. Anyone have personal or know anyone who wears this kevlar brand? Here in Florida, the heat can be brutal, yet many a Floridian who wear the mesh kevlar have not experienced any overheating. From all accounts the customer service is excellent and the pants and jacket are custom made for your body, so they want specific measurements. Let me know what ya thoughts are. Right now leaning towards the purchase, and it will be my final purchase regarding gear. Thank you kindly for replying and have a fantastic and safe riding new year!!

Hope I can get some advice/recommendations on getting high quality chaps for this upcoming season. Prefer leather over kevlar or textile from a safety standpoint. Suggestions? Thanks

Denim goes away in mere feet if you go sliding. Jeans just aren't much protection. Competition Accessories and Fast Company make kevlar lined jeans. The Competition Accessories' Sliders jeans are cut somwhat baggy. Not really a traditional jeans cut. http://www.competitionaccessories.com/category.cfm?Category=2021 Fast Company make Draggin Jeans. These have a more traditional jeans cut but seem to run a little small. http://www.dragginjeans.com/Jeans.htm Fast Company also make Draggin' Shirts. These are woven mesh long sleeved kevlar shirts. They have velcro at the wrists to allow a snug fit when adjusted. http://www.dragginjeans.com/Accessories.htm

I used to ride without them, then regular leather driving gloves. This year I picked up a pair of fingerless gloves with hard Kevlar knuckles. When you think about it this doesn't make much sense. I just picked up a new pair of gloves from JC Whitney. Gladiate-R Kevlar leather gloves. ($49.99) They are full fingered and offer great protection. They may be too warm for hot summer days, but this fall they will be great. Heck even today it's a bit cooler out (mid 70's) and they were just fine. A couple that we ride with locally was in a severe bike/semi accident. Both were wearing full head to toe protective gear. The husband died from blunt force trauma, but his wife survived. Neither had any road rash. My wife and I are spending the money now to get full protective gear. What happened to them convinced us it's worth the money.
