My 84 came with a Kenda on the rear & a Dunlop 491 on the front. Both tires are in excellent shape & I have no issues whatsoever on the Interstate or the streets. I remember the p o told me he changed the rear tire but not the front because it was in good shape. Since the wife & I are planning to take longer overnight trips I decided to check the tire date codes. The rear was in fact replaced as it had a date code of 0711. The front although perfect is 8 years old with a 2304 code. SO... Although I am happy with the current performance of this tire combo, I was wondering should I match the the front tire with a Kenda as well? At least for the life of this set. Has anyone had issues with Kenda tires up front? I hear that Gen 1's are fussy about tires. The next full set I will ask you guys again for what would be top of the line, but for now I always like matching tires, but if the Kenda is problematic up from, I will just get another Dunlop 491.

Most of you know my Dunlop D404 is shot after 4.5-5K on the back of the 84. Last year before our trip to the beach and vogel I installed new Kenda Kruz tires on the 89. after 3000 miles I can say the tires still look like new. Handling and ride is good with no problems. The 89 only gets rode two up while the 84 is my solo machine. I bought the kenda's because the price is right and the rear tire is a 6 ply rating instead of 4 with a load capacity of over 900 lbs. I just ordered a new set for the 84. $145 shipped to the front door. The tread depth on the rear is a very deep design. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/tire-tyre-guide/Kenda-K673KruzF.jpg Kenda K673 Kruz Front http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/tire-tyre-guide/Kenda-K673Kruz.jpg

have any of you guys tryed the kenda tires on your bike?? i recently bought a new kenda tire for the back of my v-star for $72.50 size 17/80/15... when i got the tire i was really impressed.. the tire side wall was rather thick, and the tread design was rather inpressive also.. i have used e tires years ago and they seemed to last for around 12000 miles.. i ordered 1 for my buddies 09 vulcan 900 about 2 months ago.. he now has over 1500 miles on it and it still shows no wear yet.. i ordered them thru denniskirk.com .. got them within 24 hours.. of course they are located here in minnesota.. worth the check out.. it was the kruz tire, that my buddy got.. they up graded his to that, nicer tire than mine, but im happy with mine.. i will tryto get a coupleof pictures up later today..

Hey all, I am thinking about trying the Kenda Kruz tires on my 03. I used them on a 04 Suzuki I had and the were great. I know they have had mixed results on the 1st Gen bikes. My question for you all is has anyone used them on a 2nd Gen? Thanks all for your vast store of knowledge.

I replied to a thread a while back about Kenda tires and how good I thought they were. While cleaning the bike this afternoon I was checking out the rear tire and realized why I have a Guardian Angel on my handlebars. I have never seen a Kenda separate before, and wsa surprized that this one had. Does anyone have a suggestion as to why this has happened. I run the rear tire at 40 psi and check it everytime I get on the bike. The DOT on the tire is 2605 and I bought it new in 2006, three years of service and no problems until I found this. Chuckles
