How many Jeep owners do we have on here?
-
I hate to be the one to re-post a thread but I give up. I have been searching for actual 1/4 mile & 0-60 time for the 2005+ RSTD for over a year now and keep coming up empty handed. I know that these bikes aren’t made for the strip but these are figure I like to know on any vehicle I own. I have seen a couple of places that has said something about the 6 second range 0-60 but that number doesn’t seem correct. The only mod's done to my bike that I am aware of is a pair of BUB slip ons and it seems way quicker than a mid 6 0-60 run. There was one occasion were I pulled up behind a Cherokee SRT8 at a on ramp for the high way with a nice Borla exhaust and as soon as I stopped he start revving it up. Normally I wouldn't pay any attention to it but I wanted to see how quick one was off the line in person. Knowing I was going to see the Jeep in action was enough for me to try and give him a run for his money. Well any ways when the light changed he laid the hammer down and I dumped the clutch in chase but to my amazement next thing I know I was changing lanes and he was slowly disappearing in my mirror. I slowed down when I hit 70 and just went on about my business but right before my exit he shot back up beside me trying to get me two give him a second try but I just gave him a thumbs up and got off my exit (it wasn't worth passing up Bass Pro). I know a lot of people would think a jeep would be no comparison for a bike but the SRT8 is an AWD capable of sub 5 second 0-60 runs. Also they pretty much eliminates the issue of a good or bad driver, even though it has over 400hp with its AWD launching and wheel spin is not a problem. But anyways if I could leave that jeep sit then the numbers I have been reading seems like they are off by a bit so if anyone would has any personal experience or knows or read of any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times I would greatly appreciate it.

On Sunday, Doreen and I went for a ride. It was a beautiful day, sun shining, slight breeze and not very hot. As we were Westbound on SD HWY 34 about 10 miles from home, we were passed by a soft-top Jeep. I had been watching it catch up to us for a bit as we were only cruising about 55-60 MPH in a 65 MPH Zone. After the Jeep went by, I got a great surprise. A great looking MK II (in BLUE!) went by us. They must have had a strict time table to keep as they were going about 70-75. I was able to keep them in sight until they turned North on SD HWY 25. We were headed to DeSmet, SD and headed up the same highway. I thought that we might see them in DeSmet but no luck there. They must not have been members here. They by-passed a perfectly good Dairy Queen!! If it was anyone here, I hope you had a great ride and if you get back in the area, feel free to contact me. Madison has a fantastic DQ! Stay Safe, Dave

Yesterday was the day of absolute fear while I was riding home from getting my RSV inspected. While riding down an interstate in the left lane, I was passing a Jeep who at the last second as I was right next to his vehicle decided he wanted my lane. There was no indication or turn signal on the jeep that he was going to change lanes. That section of the highway has a concrete divider about 5 feet high and about a foot and a half from the edge of the left lane. I missed scraping the wall by less than a foot and the front bumper of the jeep was less than a foot from my saddle bags the last time I saw the situation for what it was. Have no idea how I got out of it, but I am very glad my clutch did not slip when I opened the throttle to get the hell OUT of that situation. I cannot imagine the mess I and my RSV would have made had I hit the brakes, the wall, or the jeep. Guess my life insurance would have been paying the claim shortly. In 40 years of riding, that is the closest I have ever come to dying on a motorcycle. Must have been pure instinct, experience, and training that kicked in, because I had no time to think. Time to put the loud pipes back on the RSV!!!!

Last fall I posted here that I was selling my bikes, but then came fall - winter and , well , you know how it goes... We park the Jeep in the driveway (because the garage is filled by 2 1st Gen bikes) and this week the Jeep was broken into and everything was rifled thru. It turns out that many of the cars on the block were broken into as well. Since I travel for my job and my wonderful wife is home alone - she is a bit upset (to say the least). Now the bikes really have to go. Make a serious reasonable offer and take them home with you. I'm in Winnipeg MB right now, but when I get home this weekend I'll post pics (after going to buy and install a motion sensor security light).

I AM LOOKING FOR ANYONE THAT HAS HAD OR HAS A JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL. I AM AT THE END OF MY ROPE WITH THIS THING, I THINK MY EGR VALVE HAS GONE BAD AGAIN, HAD IT REPLACED BY THE DEALER AROUND 22,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN OK TILL NOW. HAS 38,000 MILES ON IT NOW WARANTY IS GONE AND GOT A LOW POWER PROBLEM AT TIMES WITH BLACK SMOKE AND DROPING CYLINDERS AT TIMES MOST OF THE TIME IT JUST HAS LOW POWER AFTER IT IDLES FOR 2-3 MINUTES, THEN I JUST SHUT IT OFF AND FIRE IT BACK UP AND EVERTHING IS GOOD, UNTIL I LET IT IDLE AGAIN. I PUT A CHEAP SCANNER ON IT TO READ THE CODES AND I DONT THINK IT IS GIVING ME THE RIGHT CODE P0069, THIS CODE ISNT FOR THIS JEEP ITS LIKE A GM CODE. I WOULD JUST REMOVE THE EGR AND SEE IF ITS JUST PLUG UP WITH GUNK, BUT ITS NO EASY THING TO REPLACE. THATS WHY IM ASKING FOR SOME INPUT IF I SHOULD TRY TO CLEAN IT OR JUST REPLACE IT. JUST WANTED TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE JEEP DIESEL OR IF IM THE ONLY FOOL THAT GOT ONE OF THESE JUNKERS, THANKS:mo money:
