I'm 150 miles from home and turned my jacket on and zip, zero, nada. Third time I've used it. After I got home and thawed out, I checked for power, got juice. I go to take the controller apart, but I don't have a phillips small enough. I get on internet and look for controller, Out of stock. Anyone know where I might find one? Thanks Richard

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the towns, the boys were waitin for the countdown. The fireplace was full of that stocking routine, in hopes the big boy would make the scene. With our stomachs full of paninis and beer we headed for the bedroom for some special cheer. When out in the yard there arose such a racket, I ran for the door and pull on my motorcycle jacket. I saw a large Bro on a 56 Pan, wearin' black leathers, a cool biker man. ... ... He hauled back the bars on that bike full of sacks, and it hit the roof like it was running on tracks. I couldn't stop gawking, the old guy had class, but I had to go in I was freezing my ass. Down through the chiminey he fell with a crash, and out of the fireplace he came dragging his stash. With a smile and a glee he passed out the loot, a new jacket for her and some parts for my scoot. He padded her ass and shook my right hand, turned on his heels and up the chimney he ran. From upon the roof came a great deal of thunder. As the massive V-Quad ripped the silence asunder. With beard in the wind he roared off in the night shouting "have a cool yule, and to all have a good ride."

Bought a new Tourmaster Rincon jacket last April. But since then its been in the 90's and 100's practically all summer here in Texas, so I never got a chance to try it out. But today, it was in the mid 40's to mid 50's and I got a chance to give the jacket a test drive. WOW! I have to say, even a grizzled old leather wearing biker like me can learn new tricks! That thing is WARM! I got a good deal on it from Motorcycle Superstore back in April, only $99. I have just about worn out my trusty 20 year old leather jacket, so it was about time to try something new. If your looking for a new basic-looking textile winter jacket, check the Rincon out. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/39/16896/ITEM/Tour-Master-Rincon-Jacket.aspx

The owner of Red Jacket Firearms (in Baton Rouge) custom built a AR-15 for the Combat Vets of Louisiana. Our intent is to Raffle this beauty off at the Great Southern Rally later on this month. All tickets sold out weeks ago. Our guys showed up today to pay/take delivery of the weapon....Will refused payment and donated the weapon to us. This means the La CVMA can donate $1500.00 more to our Veterans Home instead of paying for this tricked out AR-15. Boomer....who sez Red Jacket Firearms iz de cat's meow for their generosity.

I recently purchased an 07 RSV, will it operate 2 gerbing heated jacket liners and 2 pair of gloves?

Ok, summer is here. It hit 80 today. I bought a Scorpion textile jacket last fall and it does it's job well. I rode in temps down to 12 degrees with the liner in and it was warm enough at that temp. Take the liner out when it is between 40 and 70 degree range and that is great. But today........80! Not good! Been looking for a mesh jacket for a while for the upcoming hot days and there are a lot to choose from. Everytime I find something I think I would like it's not available in my size or sold out. I watch Motorcyclegear on a daily basis. I just want something that breathes and offers a fair amount of protection. Don't really need a rain liner as I carry a rain suit in the bag at all times. So I'm going to ask what are your comments on what you wear. That might help me narrow my search down a bit. Mike

How about a rattler in the jacket? Now that's something!!!

The first mod is to replace the carbs with "Guppy 471's". No, they're not fuel injectors, they're gills. Also plan on taking off the Avons and putting on "Evenrudes". Will get me through the water better. Replace the stock handlebars with a new chrome "Rud-R", gotta steer this beast somehow. The hard bags will go, pontoons in their place. Finally, all my road gear, jacket with CE armor, riding pants that are padded and armored, full face flip up helmet, gloves- chuck it all for a good wet suit and scuba gear. At least I'd get the bike out.....

This morning was cold so I only took my leather jacket, however it warmed up fast and I had neither my summer riding jacket or sunscreen I am now lobster red but I still enjoyed the ride.

Just got back from a 3000 mile trip from KC to Florida. Encountered weather from 33 degrees, rain and also 85 degrees. The Tourmaster heated jacket is the single best purchase I have made for my bike. I could ride at 33 degrees for long periods of time and be fine. It extends the riding season by 2 months for me. My only limit is the road conditions (Don't bike under 32). I think the jacket with the collar is best. The heat on the inside of my arms really helps to keep me warm. I would not have thought that. The jacket also allows the use of Tourmaster gloves which is likely my next purchase. I have heated grips, but I am not very impressed. I use light gloves, but the wind over my hands just zaps my heat in my hands. I have added Hippo hands which work great to keep wind off my hands and also the rain. The only thing I don't like is that they are awkward to use and get the hands in and out while riding.(Scratching my face, moving my sheild etc). The jacket is awesome. In my opinion a must have. BTW- I did run down my battery by having driving lights on accidently with my vest. These 2 in combination appear to be too much for the electrical system. I was in a rain storm when the bike stopped running. Wasn't a couple minutes before a fellow biker came to my aid with his truck and gave me a jump. Was really great.

ok.....just got back from Daytona.........i had to use my heated gear, gloves, jacket liner, pant liner.....what would cause the charging system to , at one time , to be showing proper voltage ( 13.8) with everything on....then later , voltage down to 12v...and then back up to maybe 13.2 ,,etc...and i'm not talking about the thermostat cycling off and on.....if i turned of the pants and jacket, the voltage would go to normal......gerbing heated clothes..and i have the updated stator.........the way i understand the stator, is that it's basically has "3 phases "...so , one could be acting up ?......what else...

Quickstep needs a new leather jacket, so thought we would buy in the states. Does your family owned bike store sell them? He wants the "Brando" style jacket, with no belt on the front, but wants to try it on if he can get one. Just thought if they were coming to MDthey could throw one in the trailer [2XL]?????????????

Nothing to do with Ventures, but thought you guys might like to see what kind of weekend I've had. Although a geologist by profession, I'm also local elected politican official. Reports began coming in about a stranded whale in one of our bays on Thursday. So we began to mobilise crews to be ready. From previous experience its normally a dolphin or small whale, although any stranding here is rare. You can imagine our surprise when we turned up to be greeted by an almost full grown bull sperm whale, all 39 tons of it! I'm sure if you google Whale on beach in the UK or something like it there's a lot more info on it. Suffice to say its taken three days to try and remove the whale with as much dignity as this kind of operation can afford. Nonetheless, a very sad end to such a noble giant of the deep and a personal privelige to stand next to such a massive warrior of the deep. I've added some pics, there are many others for those with strong stomachs! I'm the one in the orange jacket and green hat Cheers

Just a note to let you know about excellent service. Marca split the zipper on her Frogg Togg Jacket. We had bought our suits at Hully Gully in London last year, but didn't have the reciepts any more. I emailed FT with my problem and within a day a got a note back stating their policy, and that they had experinced problems with zippers being too light and coming apart, so I could ship the jacket back to them and the would see what could be done. So that's just what I did. Here comes the fun part, I shipped via Expedited Parcel, Canada Post. Put it in the mail on Oct 12, it arrived in Mississauga the day following, and sat there until Oct 24 at which time it progressed to International shipping and finally left Canada on the 25, arriving at FT on the first. I then informed FT that the item had arrived, finally, and they weren't impressed, but told me that the turn around would be 2 weeks, and so not to expect it any sooner. I told them I understood. Yesterday,,,,, a package was delivered,,,,(about 1 week after it arrived at their place, and in that time they even fixed it it ) the same jacket with a new upgraded zipper,,,,, no charge Mr Norg, pleasure doing business with you, have a great day. THANKS FROGG TOGGS for the excellent service, and for making up lost time on the part of Canada Post. I will buy FT again, but not Canada Post

Well, I became a supporting member Wed, and Thurs I went down, so I guess I gotta send another donation in. I was on my way to work and people were all and out not driving worth a darn. I had to slam on the brakes and one second later I'm sliding on my left side. Probably was going 25-30 mph. Helmet got some scratches, jacket, glove and boot just got some "character" added to them, pants got a small hole. Bike lost it's left mirror, sanded some paint off and chipped the edge of the turn signal. Highway peg, saddlebag bar, and pipe took most of the abuse and had the most wear. Guy behind me stopped, helped me right it, and push it to a nearby parking lot. Me, I got some bruises on my left side, some rug burn most likely from my shirt moving (jacket kept it from being road rash) but the worst injury was my RIGHT thumb must have hit something because it was swelling and hurt like a sob. Wife picked me up and took me to the dr. Nothing broken, just sprained. But now I can't grab the throttle. So after work, I had a buddy come and drive it home for me. Started ok, rode fine, he liked the power of it (1st gen rule!). So for now, I put in on winter insurance, will have to fix the mirror, I want to repaint & repair all the cracks in the fairing, and will de-link the brakes, which is what I'm sure put me down. My son asked if I was getting rid of it. I told him "No way". -Andrew

well i went out for a ride after fixing the venture with the upgrade fuse box. from skydoc_17 let me tell you it works great. nothing wrong with the bike here is how my day went. i stopped at a resturant for something to eat. i had a nice old leather jacket i had for many years. i left to go to the batroom came back and had my dinner. went to leave and s##t my jacket was gone. insurance paper to the bike in there a copy. and a old coin i found with the date my mom was born 1932. i carry that for luck. she passed at age of 60 in 1992. i can replace the coin. but funds wont let me get a jacket. i found some cheap imitation ones on fleabay for $29.95 im sure they wont hold up if i went down? realy irks me i had that jacket since 1990. my brother got it for me. he passed from pancreatic cancer 5 years ago. i just hope the jerk who took it enjoys it. if he,s stupid enough to wear it with a brainerd MN patch on right side. and i see him im going to run him over. and test that jacket for him.

When I was fortunate enough to win the $100.00 gift certificate for New Enough I needed another riding jacket. I ordered the Cortech Tour Master Mod Denim Jacket. Well it arrived today and it is nice. Armor in the back and arms and you would never know it's there. Removable liner and was able to order it in the tall size and it fits perfect. Thanks again Don for having the contest.

I'm ready to look for a new rain suit. I have a set of Frogg Togg Road Toads but I don't like the pants. After wearing them a few times they seem really worn in the crotch and seat area. The jacket seems OK. I have a pair of nylon rain pants I picked up at the Bass Pro shop that I really like but I have a hole in one of the legs that I've got patched with duct tape. The things I like about these pants is that they pack up really small into their own back pocket and they are light weight. I've looked at Nelson Riggs, Tourmaster and Fieldsheer suits and they all seem to be much heavier and bulkier to pack and they seem like they would be very hot during summer showers. I stopped at a Harley shop recently and found this packable suit that seems OK but I hate the logo emblazend across the back, http://www.stpaulharley.com/Men-s-Packable-Rainsuit-98028-09VM-p/98028-09vm.htm I don't want pants with suspenders because I want to be able to throw the jacket on first quickly if I need to. What's everybody using for rain gear? Dennis

I just read this story and found it interesting. An inflatable jacket to protect a motorcyclist in the event of an accident. Anybody here have one? http://www.wbaltv.com/news/14328936/detail.html

My 16 YOA son, Dan, passed his MSF Course this past weekend. He scored 96% on the written and only had one minor mistake on the driving course. He has been driving around town on the little Honda we found. This is going to be great, another rider to DQ! I had a stragne occurance a couple of weeks ago. I rode to the bank to make a deposit for work and a fellow followed me into the parking lot. He approached me and said the he used to ride a Goldwing until he wrecked a couple of years ago. He said that he had some riding gear he would like to sell. Doreen and I went to his house and discovered that he and his wife had two leather jackets, a women's textile jacket (with back, elbow, and shoulder removable padding), womens nylon wind chaps and a pair of men's leather chaps. The bigger leather jacket was too small for me and too large for either Doreen or Dan. The smaller leather jacket fits Dan great. We purchased the the nylon chaps, textile jacket, leather chaps (for me) and the coat for Dan. They were happy to get them to someone who will use them and we were happy to get all this for just $200.00! I know the textile jacket is that much alone when new. Sometimes it is nice that things work out. Usually, for me, I step in the cow pie, this time I was able to step over it. Dave
