It’s dead. Down and out for the count. I screwed it big time. I had used the washer under the valve cover shoulder bolts technique to stop a couple of small leaks. Worked fine except one little leak that was working it’s way down to the exhaust. Was looking forward to riding it through the weekend and decided while chatting on the phone with a friend, to “snug” that one valve cover bolt in an attempt to stop the small oil weep. Went good until I gave it the little “one more for good luck” tweak. Yea..more like major bad luck. It snapped off under the shoulder stop part. I don’t see how I can fit even an angle drill in there to drill for an easy out. Gotta pull the engine to fix it. I think that is way beyond my skill and time availability. Was going to start working on the 87 this weekend with/for my son. Seriously thinking of selling both as is and moving on… The 2nd Gens win this battle.... This sucks.

Yes, I said ‘distraction’. First of all let me say that I use my scoot for more then just unwinding on pleasurable scenic rides along quiet country back roads... it’s also transportation. As a result I often find myself rolling across the big slab to get from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ and like you have seen my share of “S##T” (careless driving). I don’t have to tell you folks about the attentiveness required for riding motorcycle but the fact of the matter is that the same attentiveness is required no matter what you’re driving! The difference is that if something goes wrong we are the one’s who will get hurt regardless of fault. Riding motorcycle commands your attention. On the other hand a car will conveniently allow the opportunity to read a map, fix your hair, talk or text on the phone, eat your breakfast, tend to the kids... all while boot’n down the highway at breakneck speeds, need I go on! The two don’t mix and that’s why it’s nice to have a Weapon for ‘Mass Distraction’ It’s nice to know that we have some options for those times when defensive driving just isn’t enough... gosh I love my air horn! I have the ‘Bad Boys’ mounted under the fairing and my only regret is that I didn’t install them sooner. My thanks to the people who make this product, it has helped me more then once! Having said that... I must apologize to the gentleman who undoubtedly soiled his pants after he wandered into my lane while chatting on the phone. Judging by his reaction he must have thought a freight train was coming, he pulled back so quickly that he overshot his lane on the other side before finding center of his own. Yes I’m sorry alright, sorry that he bothered to go out for a drive and leave his senses parked at home! Did I mention that I love my air horn! ... Now if we could only come up with something for the tailgaters!!!

Made the move in one piece. The wife and I successfully made the move from Del Rio Texas to Dover, DE our new home port for awhile I hope. We are staying on base while we close on a house in Harrington, which is just down the road a few miles. This place is like many others in the country, it’s a buyers market. We purchased a 7 year old 2300 sq/ft home on 1 acre for 230k. The original asking price was 302,999.00 but the house sat on the market for 293 days with no lookers. It’s a beautiful home but there’s just not that many people buying now. We looked at about 7 other homes that were originally 300k+ that had been reduced over time by at least 50k. All of the houses we looked at in this price range were beautiful homes in fairly new developments. None were older then 11 years, it’s a bad time to be selling in some areas but a great time to be buying in those area’s. The owners were so happy just to have an offer they never even came back with a counter offer. I fell sorry for the people that have to sell in this market, but it worked out for me because normally I could not afford a 300k house. And I can’t believe the taxes in DE, the taxes on the house we just bought were $1.302.00 in 2007, man I was paying almost 5k on a 210k home in Texas and almost 6k on the house in Illinois. We are hoping to close in about 10 days at least that’s what the realtor is saying. I hope so because my bike is outside with only a cover for protection, at least it’s on the Air Base so security is good, but the first thing I do before bed is make sure it’s still there and it’s the first thing I do in the morning. I will have to update my email address when we are in the house and hooked to high speed. I’m using dial up now and man I must be spoiled because the speed is like a first gen....SLOW!

Ok I’m going to have to say it but this 07 is faster, has a more responsive throttle and handles much better then my 03 Midnight. Also has a better radio, on my 03 I had to have the volume on 24 to hear the music out of the bikes speaker @ 70 mph, well I went on my break-in ride yesterday (340 miles) and I could hear the music with the volume set at 18, man what a bike. And like HIDRSV it’s PRETTY! Had some popping so I plugged the AIS and installed the Stebel Crome Nautilus which I ordered Wednesday morning and received yesterday, fast shipping from CALIFORNIA SPORT TOURING
