I sold my 85 Venture Royale with the two tone brown paint about 2 years ago, and basically completely quit using the site. Well im back in the Venture saddle again Im purchasing 2 identical 2 tone gold 83 Royales. I purchased both with a total price of $1000!!! One has 65,000 miles and the other has 28,000. The one with 28k doesnt drive because the carburator is plugged, and I intend to ride the one with 65K home. I believe i came across a great deal. The one with more miles needs a speedometer cable and 2nd gear is out of it, which i intend to repair. It also has a bad rear master cylinder. It has the Radio deck and CB with the electronic air shocks, but the back one you have to pump up with a compressor. The one with less miles needs a few pieces to put back together, a carb rebuild (which i intend to do). I will also replace the 2nd gear clip in this transmission too, before it can go bad. It also needs a rear master cylinder and a rear tire. Neither of these bikes has cruise, which I intend to fix. But i plan on putting the better of the two parts onto one bike with less miles and have 1 really nice venture, and the other a "bad weather venture" or sell it for more than what i bought both bikes for. I have a few pictures of the bikes, if anyone wants to see.

I'm sure this has been questioned to death, but I would like some advise. I tend to feel that nobody beats the quality of factory parts, but..... I need a clutch for my '89 VR. suggestions---all stock / Barnett Pressure plate / stock or aftermarket frictions? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I intend to do normal driving--no serious abuse. Only slight mods (from what I can tell)--cams / jets. Pretty stock setup. What should I expect to pay? I priced a whole new stock setup -$270.

My intent with this post is to provide as much information as I go along as I can. Going to the Darkside seems a daunting task for a lot of folks, including myself, so I'm going to try to do a blow by blow of my own procedure and report back, if not daily, at least every ride for the first several thousand miles or so. Finally, got my new tire yesterday and am having it installed today at 10. As many of you know I live in a motel and doing any of my own work isn't really an option unless I can get Sleeperhawk or Pecker's help so I have a local shop, M&M cycles, doing the whole nine yards. I purchased the tire, $60 including shipping, from Onlinetires.com. Originally ordered a Federal, but ended up with the Nexen because the Federal was on national back order. For an online out-fit they don't respond well to emails etc, but when I finally got on the phone with them they went right to work and sent the Nexen the day I called. I'll reserve judgment on the company for now as they seem very competent if you speak by phone to an actual person. I just feel as an online store they should be more responsive to email and they seem to not check their email much. As quick as I ordered the tire from Onlinetires I jumped over and hit up Innovative Balancing for the Dyna Beads. I've used this approach to every tire I've ever installed on my own and I absolutely love Dyna Beads for balancing my tires. I intend to use 3 ounces in the Nexen as recommended by Innovative Balancing for installation of a c/t on a motorcycle. For now I intend to continue to run the oem Dunlop D404 on the front. Perhaps next month I'll change that out. Contrary to popular belief I'm not a wealthy man. That's it for now, will report again, as soon as I return from the install. May make a detour to the state fair along the way, so please be patient. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_xOOWRVc9-a4/StmilFSnjqI/AAAAAAAAA4M/-R9EQycLL_I/s400/165_80_15.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/_xOOWRVc9-a4/StmilBTAo4I/AAAAAAAAA4Q/2Wqo2UlU_Q8/s400/NexenSB802.jpg PS: the tread is deeper than it appears in photos.

After careful consideration and waiting for the 2010 venture I have bought a new to me toy. 2007 wing with EFI. It sure dose have a lot of buttons though! On the way home while trying to find the auto wave button I may have accidently launched the space shuttle. I still intend to hang out here cause I still have the 84 and I think it will still make a good service truck. ( That would be a shift cover from a 5 ton truck this spring ). Besides you guys make me laugh, and after looking at my bank balance, I need a good laugh!
