Well the high 90 and 100 temps drop so I had to get out and ride. I rode down 37 to Bedford Indiana. Took 450 over to Shoals then U.S. 150 to Paoli . Then took 56 over to Salem. Then 135 back to Indy. https://vimeo.com/48115377

I just received news that a local rider and his wife went down in Indiana, the preliminary reports were that he lost control when the rear tire blew out. I know him and he is a pretty conservative rider. His wife did not survive the crash and he is in bad shape. My training was always, let off the gas, no breaks and steer to the side slowing down gradually. I have never experienced a blow out in all my years of riding, I have had tires gradually go flat. Please respond as to your experience with a blow out and any tips for riding it out. We will keep our friend and family in thoughts and prayers.

well, I got my plate renewal today and I'm looking at $104 for a 2005 bought for $9,500 back in 2008.. seems a little hi even for indiana, the trailer was only $25. anywho who else is getting screwed and for how much.

heading out at 5am for a huge vintage scooter and motor bike flea market in portland indiana with a good friend of mine. we do it every year. i think i knew every scooter ever made and then another shows up there. if your in the area it's well worth a stop at the fairgrounds. it takes at least a day to see it all. we will be staying in selena ohio at holiday inn express.

Well, my influence (for good or bad) has rubbed off on my eldest son, Curtiss. He is on spring break from college this week and leaving today to go riding/camping. Curt is taking my 2008 KLR650 which is a reliable machine loaded down with everything he needs. This bike is really a great packmule. He will head out about noon today and is aiming towards Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park. He wants to camp, hike, and just sit around and read (going to school to be a literature professor). I envy him and want to go too. His route today will take him thru central Illinois (Rockford to Normal) and then over into Indiana. Once he gets into Indiana, I expect he will get off the interstate slab. Will likely stay tonight in the Hoosier Nat'l Forest near French Lick. Tomorrow will see him down to Mammoth Cave. I will post a picture of the loaded bike and son once he is ready to go. If he runs into trouble, I may need to rely on the graciousness and support of this family until I can get down to him. While he is 22, he is still my little boy (sure - 6'4" little boy) and I want to protect him the best I can (without him knowing it). I will keep you all up to date. I love my son and am very excited for him to make this trip alone. It will be a great experience for him. Wish him luck. RR

I was looking at a map of Indiana and seen this road of 446. It is south of where you go a cross Lake Monroe and where comes in to a town of Meumee. Then you could take W CR 1000 to Houston then Huston road to 135 and come out above Freetown. Anyone from Indiana been a cross this road. If so how is it ?

Last month out riding. A rider ask me if I had ever seen the grave in the middle of the road. It is 5 or 5 1/2 miles south of Franklin Indiana east of U.S. 31 on 400S. So I had to get out today so I rode out to see it.

With the weather being so dry here in Indiana this summer. The weather man keep saying the fall colors would come earlier this year. That they would not last long. Don't know if this is going to be true or not. But here is some video I got out looking. On Oct 6 2010 I rode 450, U.S. 50 ,446, and 45. A 217 miles rider for me. Then on Oct 9 2010 I rode down 37 to Sulphur. Then down 66 to Cannelton a 319 mile day. Well, the good news is that Eileen, Dylan and I are on our way to Texas. We had planned to leave tomorrow but got away late today. Only drove about 5 1/2 hours or so but made it just south of Louisville, KY today and stopped early. The bad news is that I got an email from my company today. I need to enjoy this vacation because they just told me that they are increasing my territory. I used to have Ohio, Western PA and Western NY. They then replaced Western PA and Western NY and gave me Indiana and Michigan. Now they are telling me that I am keeping Ohio, Indiana and Michigan but they are adding back Western PA and Western NY and also giving me all of Kentucky and all of West Virginia. So there are some busy times when I get back from vacation. Oh well...I DO still have a job.

I noticed several people are selling bikes as parts bikes because they dont have titles.I had a 1981 sr250 that had no title. The last it was titled was in Ohio in 1987. I live in Indiana. Being the privacy act I was not allowed the names on the last owner that had a title.So I tried to go through the Indiana BMV. that was like talking to a wall. The next step was to go to court to get a judge to sign so i could get a title. The cost was $130 just to go in the court room. With the chance the judge says no i did not go that route. Found a place on the internet called International title.. Called the number sent the paper work they requested. Three weeks later I had a registration and plate. This was from Maine. (legal)Transferd plates to Indiana and it was done. Some states dont need a title for motorcycles after 15 years. Just thought this might help someone out...By the way the plates and registration cost me $140 through International title.

I will be leaving tomorrow for the changing of colors I would like to ride withothers if possible. I will be leaving Indiana tomorrow around 3 and plan on stopping for the night and finishing the trip Wednesday. Is their anyone else going from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky?

Valerie and I made it home around noon today from the Southern Indiana weekend. Thanks to Joe (Freesyrider) and Donna for organizing the weekend. Although it was a bit cool yesterday we had a great time and met new and old friends and shared good food. What more could you ask for? Dennis
