A HUGE THANK YOU! To everyone who purchased this spacer. I assume all are satisfied with it, your feedback/comments in the classified ad would be greatly appreciated. As much as I hated to do it, I had to increase the price by $5. I lost my connection for aluminum and cheap shipping rates. Bill W.

Have any of you ever been able to run 2 batteries in parallel on a RSTD? I have been thinking that it may help make sure that i always have power, but I am not sure how the increase in amps will affect the bike. Any ideas?

Can I change the number of threads displayed? When I click on the "New Posts" link at the top of the page I always get up to 25 threads listed, is there a way to increase this number? I do have the replies per page at the max number for when I am in a thread but can not find the setting to increase the number of threads displayed in "New Posts". If I actually have to do work at work there is always pages of new posts by the time I get back here. Sometimes if there are a lot of threads that need reading and or replies the system will timeout and I will end up missing the older ones on the later pages.

I have an '83 venture that has the left hand muffler end piece just about rusted through. Is it possible to just replace end caps or is it necessary to replace entire muffler? What would bst and easiest replacement be. (I do not really want to increase Db level). I have Jardines on my '90 RSV which are a bit loud, but seem to have misplaced them OEM'S !!

I just got my insurance renewal from Echelon General Insurance Company, through Riders Plus. I thought these guy's were supposed to be biker friendly. It went up approximatly $200.00 to a painful $812.00. That is roughly a 33 % increase, no tickets, no accidents and no claims. That was for one million liability only. No collision, fire or theft, for my 89. How do they justify such a whopping increase at a time when the average worker is lucky to even get a 2% raise If they even get one at all. I know some who haven't had a raise in 4 years and then there are the ones who have even been unemployed. :Avatars_Gee_George: :Avatars_Gee_George:

With the price of gas and the Lower mpg's of ethanol contaminated fuel. Is there an additive that would increase the btu's to increase mileage? Or is this even possible?

As I have stated before my other bike is a Honda Valkyrie. A common performance modification that is done and I have done to mine is the one listed below. http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/ect-mod.htm It is basically tapping into the ECM's programing which advances the timing while the bike warms up to normal operation temps to advance the timing. The Modification allows the rider to have control of advancing the timing AFTER the bike is warm also giving a bit more power and fuel efficiency. Very simple and mostly cheap and effective. I've found that my mpg increase and power increase is most noticeable with 89 octane fuels rather than 87 or 91. The modification can be turned off at any time when needed or desired. Can anyone tell me if this can be done to the Royal Star and if so where and which wires would need to be accessed.? Thanks, Tom

I re soldiered the connections on the circuit board for the class system errors I was getting, re installed the unit hooked up the battery turned the key to acc, the controller came on no errors showing sounds great so far but read on , switched it to manual and pushed increase, all the power on the bike went away except to the controller? I have no power to anything else. what the heck happened? I checked all the fuses, the main fuse looks ok through the window but it could be bad where I can't see it at.

Has anyone had any experience with these "combo" replacement bulbs. http://www.customdynamics.com/motorcycle_led_bulbs.htm They can be wired so they are become running lights, extra brake lights as well as signals. But what about the amber lenses? doesn't that mess it up? I really want to increase the visibility at the rear end of my 83 VR If anyone has other suggestions, including what and how to for light bars etc I'm all ears!

There is an article in todays paper stating the the provincial government is going to crack down on motorcycle riders due to there having been several deaths recently. Most of the deaths they refer to were caused by automobile drivers turning left into the motorcyclist or pulling out in front of the motorcyclist. I intend to send a letter to the paper and to the motor vehicles branch explaining that it is the automobile drivers who need to be cracked down on. Some time ago I saw a thread here which showed research into motorcycle accidents and the increase in the death rate was largely due to the increase in SUV's and high pickups on the road. I would like to use that thread but I cannot find it. Does anyone remember it and can you tell me where to find it. Thanks

Hey Boss, Is there a way to include a separate total number of Supporting Members in the Mini Stats area? I'm always curious as to how many we have & would enjoy watching THAT number increase rather than the false number that now reaches almost 8400.

Just wanted to pass this along to the group...I have used these folks a couple of times and they have one of the best discount accessories available on the web... I would expect this Yamaha Price Increase to apply to ALL Dealers...Not just these folks...I know its a lot, but here it is....Just in case you want something before February 209... Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving.... George In Virginia Dear valued customer, we here at South Seattle Sports Plaza are faced with a dilemma that has us torn between some directions in which we need to move to further provide you with all your motor-sports needs, first question is, do we drop our current discount to between 15 and 20 percent like all the other dealers, giving that extra profit to Google and Yahoo to stay in the top positions of their search pages? Or do we keep our discount at 27 percent and cut our expenses on search engines and hope our customers keep spreading the word to receive the volume of business we need to support that high of a discount. On Yamaha’s last price update Oct 1st, they not only did a major price increase but they also dropped the dealers’ profit margins on thousands of items. One example is the new Star custom wheel kits. The front wheel for a Road Star, part number 5C7-f54E0-V0-00, retail is 1449.95 and dealer cost is 1087.50. Our price is 1087.46 on our website. This is like many other accessories items that have 25% or fewer profit margins and we loose money. But that’s the bad news. In these times things have increasingly slowed and we are in need your business and that of your friends now and in the future. So for the good news we are going to leave the 25% discount on accessories where it is and has been for the last couple years and increase the parts discount to 30%. We will keep these prices till February and then change the parts discount to 25% and the accessories discount to 22%. I would also like to add that right now our Star inventory is well stocked and we have a lot of items that Yamaha even has on backorder. Also when ordering parts if you see something that says backorder we still might be able to get it out of Japan or even have it in stock. If you order a backorder item and it will be awhile before available, we will contact you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. Thank You, Dan McVeigh yamahasportsplaza.com ysppart.com allyamaha.com onlyyamaha.com

Anyone know how to do this on an 89? I find my throttle just a bit sticky and my cruise control seems to keep increasing, then suddenly really increase, and suddenly go right back down to where it should be. Perhaps lubricating would help get rid of this problem. Thoughts?

September 1, 2008. "Dear Yamaha Dealer: Yamaha Motor, works hard to remain your #1 source of parts and accessories. We strive to provide high quality parts and accessories at competitive prices. Due to a significant rise in supplier cost, a price increase will be implemented starting October 1st 2008. This pricing change will only effect parts for units no longer in production, some selected older parts will have a greater increase than others. In early September, two price master files will be distributed to your Dealer Management Systems and posted on YDS for your convenience. One file will have the parts prices for the month of September. The other file will have the October prices. By comparing the two files you’ll be able to see which part numbers have been impacted. It may be beneficial for you to stock up on these parts in September before the price increase is implemented. Thank you for your continued support of Yamaha Genuine Parts and Accessories". Trevor Kemp National Parts & Accessory Sales Manager Parts & Accessories Division. My Brother in Law forwarded this onto me after he recieved it from Yamahasportsplaza.com. Keith.

As you can see, I have the 87 for sale now. (I am no electrician) and Lonestar Medic found me a beautiful 86. But this one has the hitch on it. I don't plan on towing but thought it probably doesn't increase the sale price on the old bike. Is it worth the time to pull it off just in case, or give it up?

I just hit a deer while pulling a CycleMate 2000LTD. I could not scrub off enough speed before impact & the trailer kept pushing me and the bike off the road. I felt very helpless & I got hurt bad & totalled the bike ! Trailers make your bikes stopping distance increase a lot and increase your chances of getting hurt or killed ! JJ

I know that diesel engines will improve mpg over a breaking period. My truck saw an increase in mpg from 17 (new) to 20 to 21 after 20,000 miles. I have just turned 14,000 miles on my RSV and the last 3 tanks of fuel I have gotten 48 to 50 mpg. NO, I am not complaining. Just quite happy at the milage. The only other thing could be that I ran some Seafoam thought it within the last 800 miles.

I was talking to Yogi on this site and he said that he head that Dothan Powersports in Dothan, AL would do a mod on the venture that would increase the hp to 120. Today I rode to Dothan with some friends to the Dothan Bikefest and on the way back we stopped at Dothan Powersports. I talked to the service manager about this. He said he used to have a tour deluxe and did this mod on it. They re-route the air intake and mount four K&N air filters under the tank. Then they put on either bub or barons pipes, I don't remember which pipes he said, and they rejet the carbs. The manager said this would increase the hp to 120 and increase your gas mileage. Just wondering if any of you have heard of this or tried this. Oh, and the cost is $1,200, which means I won't being doing this anytime soon.
