I have a 1996 Royal Star XVZ13 something. I cannot for the life of me figure out what bike I have.( XVZ13A/AC/AT/ATC/LT or a LTC. I have a service manual but I seem to be broken when it comes to reading the CODES or when to start or stop reading them. Under my seat above the little tool kit it reads... 4NK1-010 C Does the C stand for? Also confused as to why inbetween my VIN code it has a 2 inbetween the two parts. I guess I am actually trying to figure out if I have a California model. I can't seem to find any parts to make it California legal..thank goodness. I bought the bike used and am confused. Thank you all, and if more info is needed just let me know. Thanks All!!!

I have removed the two nuts and bottom plug, but the cowling still feels like it is being held on by glue or another plug right in the middle section inbetween where the two bolts came out. Do I just keep pulling? It feels like the plastic is bending so much that it may break. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Bikes coming along, seafoam and idle adjustment has is idleing with the choke off now. Bled all the hydraulics, rode it around the parking lot across from me, Felt good, not tippy and the weight didn't bother me at all. I have to get tires and 2 diaphragms for the wells on the bars. Its backfiring a little at idle, but seems to run good. Battery tender hooked up. What tires of these 3? Perrelli, Maxxis or Kenda? I felt no wobble and think I could ride it around a little to help get the carbs clean etc. But . the back tire has cracks inbetween every groove, on the outside where it meets the side wll sort of. There both Metzs and old so they gotta go.Thanks again guys and gals, everything Ive done so far I have gotten from you.

I encountered a really strange one on the road Saturday. We stopped for ggas and when I went to restart, it acted like my battery took a dump. We push started ok, but the voltmeter barely made it up to 12 volts. About a half hour down the road I just happened to notice that my Hi/Low beam switch was halfway inbetween the 2 settings, so I reset it. Almost immediately the voltmeter went up above 12 volts, and the problem was solved. Fine and dandy, but yesterday I smelled a very faint burnt electrical smell, and looked, and sure enough the darnn switch was halfway inbetween again, same basic symptom. Put switch back and everything is beautiful again. I may be accidently hitting the switch when clutching as we have been doing a lot of twisties these last 2 days... Just wanted to make you aware of a potential problem source!
