Need a helmet? 2011 Motorcycle Helmets cops hate I never cease to marvel at the Free Enterprise System. When a product reaches the point where it's nearly impossible to improve its functionality, someone will still come up with a way to make people want to ditch their old one and get yours.

Was doing some odds and end things this past weekend and took my air filter box off--After I got it out of the small compartment it is lodged in I noticed someone had taken a 1/4 in. drill bit and drilled about 8 small holes on the sides of the box (all 4 sides)---Do you think this would improve performance or just some "Shade tree Mechanic" trying to increase the air into the carbs?...........................................Thanx......................Larry

OK, there has been a ton of discussion on this forum about oil, tires, windshields, leveling links, lights, carb heaters and the infamous whining splines in the clutch. I've personally appreciated all of the advice and opinion from all of you on the things that can improve my overall ride, performance and maintenance of my '99 RSV, and I hope I've added a little something to the discussions as well. So now what more can I do to make my ride as good as it can be, or improve its performance or life. It rides pretty darn nice right now (53K miles, ME880's, Yamalube semi-synth oil w/ Motorkote, leveling links installed, Showchrome 13" windscreen, full maintenance schedule every 3000 - 4000 miles)? Am I missing anything that I should be doing or changing or adding? I haven't changed out the i-basket yet, but that's already on the list.

I was just wondering why we don't have a area on the forum to post suggestion and ideas that the Yamaha team can draw from, and reply to? I would think it would be great market research, and a great what to improve the machine and keep riders comming back and buying the latest and greatest thing. Just a thought.

Well I checked the mileage on the new RSTD for the first time and got 41 mpg but I'm still in the break in period so I think that will improve. What are others getting.

Has anyone thought of, or done any mods to the front of the bike like increase the angle to improve the steering???

I just got the trike a bit ago and now my wife will not ride with me! Coming from the rear comfort of a Goldwing se to the seat and backrest of a 2001 royal star touring was too much of a slide......... Are there any trunks/backrests that would improve on the situation? I do have an ad in the wanted section. Help!

So, with a little over 400 miles on a pair of new Avon Venoms, I gotta say...WOW! Huge improvement over the stock tires. Quieter, smoother ride especially at highway speeds. As most Venom owners state, these tires seem to improve slow speed handling, almost makes the bike feel "less top-heavy". Did I mention that I really like these tires"??

Well its time to buy tires on my 2006 rstd,I have read all the posts on what size is best .I have decided on the Avons .My question is this, I am 5 10 185 lbs , looking to improve slow speed handling , do a lot of two up . I do not have leveling links or have I altered the stance of the bike .Will the 150 stock size improve handling for me without any other changes . Iam concerened with high speed stability as well. Any sugestions for someone my size, I would love to improve slow speed handling while maintaining high speed feel . Thanks for any guidance !!!!!!

Not sure if i'm posting this in the right place, my appologies if so. I'm curious if anyone has removed the tour pack (trunk) and rear seat as a modification of look for a RSV. I'm thinking that it would totally change the styling and maybe improve the handling in the process. I think it would drastically improve the looks if there was only the rear fender showing, but still retain the bags. I think it would look very sharp. Anyone have done this, if so, much work involved, and do you have a picture? Many thanks, Bar:cool18:

Hey Members, Anyone get any tech tips, advise, possible costs, parts or modifications needed to lower my RSV. I am hopeing it will take her down a couple of inches or so, front and back. This should improve handling, especially with 2 up and/or a full tank or trunk. Appreciate any advice. Thanks, Bar:Venture:

Just recently bought a 87 Venture Royale with a voyager trike kit. It has about 30k miles. Depending on how I ride, I get between 20 and 25 miles per gallon. If i keep it 65 mph or below it gets close to 25. It runs & idles smooth; accelerates nicely; it just needs help on the gas mileage. I just bought some Sea Foam and am running that through it in hopes that will improve the mileage. My question - is there something else that can be done inexpensively that could improve mileage? I'm not ready to tear down the carbs or anything that extensive yet. Thanks for any/all advice
